give trump the opportunity to win back his vote. trump himself took to twitter to target house speaker paul ryan. ryan is another republican who has turned his back on the gop presidential candidate. cbs4's chris boswell live on capitol hill for us tonight. ryan is not the only one that's pulling his support. >> reporter: certainly not, karen. donald trump really is ratcheting up his war against any republican who does not support his campaign. essentially cutting ties with many in the gop. it comes as hillary clinton is really climbing in the poles. and time really -- time is dwindling down. >> donald trump is attacking republicans who have turned their backs on him. trump took direct aim at paul ryan on twitter calling him weak

the budget but then they start talking about their nominee. >> reporter: the fallout started after leaked video shows trump using crude language to describe how he makes it advances on women. >> just start kissing them. it's like a magnet. there's no other way. >> reporter: also slammed john mccain for no longer endorsing him because of what trump calls his locker room comments. he implied he will no longer worry about other republicans saying the shackles are now off so that he can run the campaign his way. >> i don't know what he means by like you know, being unshackled. i'm at a loss for what he could say that would help him, that would be less disappointing than the things he's been saying of late. >> reporter: speaker ryan is focused entirely on protecting majorities in congress. while democrats are working hard to tie gop members to trump. >> eric paulsen refused to disavow donald trump. until he threatened his own campaign. >> reporter: democrats need 30 seats to take back the house. and five seats to win back the senate. >> it is one of the most

>> reporter: hillary clinton is in florida today talking about climate change with former vice president al gore. and mike pence today did say that he has talked to house speaker paul ryan since ryan announced he will not campaign for the trump-pence ticket. back to you. >> thank you. hillary clinton will be in colorado tomorrow, campaign in pueblo specifically, she will encourage voters to send in ei at 6:30. north carolina state trooper shot and killed a man who was apparently mad about hurricane matthew rescue operations. the community of lumberton one of the areas hardest hit by floods, the driver was driving through high water when he encountered that man. investigators say that man had a gun, was hostile toward the trooper and that's when the trooper shot him. 30 children hospitalized after receiving a dental procedure at an office in california. the orange county health agency says tainted water used during the procedures caused bacterial

one of the children affected. surgeons had to remove three of her permanent teeth and part of her job own to stop bacteria from spreading. >> she was looking at her school picture and said grandma, i want my teeth back and she says the kids are going to laugh at me. and i said the kids are not going to laugh at you. you're beautiful. nobody is going to laugh at you but that breaks her heart. >> the clinic investigated by the dental board and has stopped performing any procedures involving water. dental group released a statement saying it is committed to improving -- providing safe quality care. new video shows someone dressed as a creepy clown hanging onto the back of a city bus. this was in detroit, michigan, commuters were understandably confused and a little upset about it. no one knows who the clown is. the detroit department of his petition says it sent the video to police who are now investigating. boulder voters will soon decide whether to impose a tax on sodas.

the rock 'n roll denver half marathon is coming up this weekend. important part of training is nutrition. recently our cbs4 run team met with a nutritionist to get some advice. >> we're going to make apple cinnamon energy bites. >> reporter: a balance between proteins, fats and a little added sugar for good measure. >> this is a great training food. >> reporter: karen morfitt, britt moreno mark haas and i are training for the rock 'n roll denver half marathon. we had a lot of questions for nutritionist amanda turner. >> what do you eat the night before a race? >> that's a great question. night before you do want a higher carbohydrate yield but people often misconstrue that with eat a lot of food. >> reporter: while we chopped and measured we also talked

quarter protein, you should have about a third to a half carbohydrates. and then a quarter to a half with vegetables on it. that would be an ideal plate. >> marathon trying to gain weight because i get so hungry after i run. >> so it kind of ties into that. right? if you have higher volume food that makes you feel more full. so you're not over eating on calories. >> reporter: as we added chocolate chip to our energy bites for a little fun flavor turner also talked about how you can train your body to function better with the proper balance of nutritious whole foods. need a nap after long runs? ey >> or during. the u.n. humanitarian agency is asking for nearly $120 million. the money will be victims of hurricane matthew. this is the newest -- this is the news from around the world. only a portion of the devastation caused when the storm blew through last week. the official nationwide death toll is 473. the tally of numbers from local officials put that close to 1000. now there are concerns of cholera and other diseases. efforts to legalize same-sex marriage in australia appear to be at a standstill. the opposition labor party is refusing to support plans for a

significantly colder. as our front continues to work through. temperatures right now still not that bad out there, 65 in denver, 64 in greeley, 63 in burlington. 53 in salina, 52 steamboat, 55 craig, 71 grand junction. weather watcher in pete's reporting 59 and she says that's 10 degrees cooler than her last report. so it's cool enough as the front makes its way into northern colorado. 68 in denver winds out of the north- northeast at seven miles an hour. we had 79. so it was pretty warm outside. i want to put a jacket on just to be -- but i certainly didn't need it. 77 in denver, 67 is our average. we are well above that but tomorrow well below that so you can actually where the jackets tomorrow. taking a look at wind speeds, it is gusty with the front working through. 25 miles per hour gusts, windy in akron as well with winds

satellite and rater there's a lot of rain in some areas, bigger thunderstorms up on the eastern plains nothing severe, some lightning roll through parts of our northwestern corridor we will zoom around the state just a moment but we will start in denver, near aurora a little bit of rain right now near thornton as well, most of the denver area is on the dry side. chance of some rain tonight and through early tomorrow morning a little drizzle as well. a bit more active -- all the way from lake -- up towards craig and hayden, all the way through walden as well, snow in bit of lightning too as we head south of i-70 near aspen through crested butte all the way down into ours and once, some snow is part of there, some rain in the lower elevations, out in the eastern plains there's been a lot of lightning some of the storms moving to kansas. you can see near fort morgan out towards parts of the north eastern plains, down near cheyenne wesley we have some storms as well. rest of the night expect rain and snow sticking around for us even by 10:00 tonight.

parts of the san juans, here in denver a couple showers misconstrue for us. even early tomorrow morning western slope you should start off on the dry side there may still be a little bit of snow in the high country tomorrow morning we'll have the chance for some fog across the foothills and out east. skies slowly start to clear out by tomorrow morning and then there's a chance of a few more clouds again tomorrow evening but it is a drier day tomorrow. after the front passes through. temperatures tonight it will be a little chilly out there 39 to denver burlington. mountains tonight not too bad in the mid-to-upper 30s, 39 in frisco and eagle 34 in craig and beaker 46 over in grand junction. tomorrow this is when you really notice the changes only 58 for us and again we hit 79 today, 58 in denver 57 in greeley, out on the eastern plains mid-fifties for ray and burlington at 55, 57 frisco 60 steamboat, 66 craig and 73 in

news of disappointed company earnings. the dow dropped a whopping 200 points. nasdaq down 81. us and be lost 26. blue bell is expanding a voluntary recall with cookie dough, supplied by a third party called aspen hills, that company says there cookie dough was contaminated. it could contain listeria. no illnesses reported. no other blue bell ice cream is affected by this recall. the world health organization is urging countries to tax sugary drinks. the group says raising prices by 20% would reduce consumption and fight obesity. voters in boulder will design any sugary drink tax next month. if approved it would place an extra two cents per ounce tax on sugary drinks like sodas. today is the deadline to submit a claim if you've had issues with your front loading washer. back in july we told you water can get trapped in the rubber gasket area leading to mold. if you bought a whirlpool, kenmore, maytag or lg machine

a suspected hit and run driver involved in a deadly crash is arrested and that is where we begin tonight's reporter brief. >> i'm jennifer brice at city park. police have arrested a man involved in a deadly hit-and- run off of colorado boulevard. a woman driver died. suspect tyler white was later found naked swimming in a lake at city park. we spoke with him during a jailhouse interview. white admits he was speeding when the cars crest. saying he was iv hours earlier but did not feel i. police say the toxicology reports and crash data will now be part of their investigation. matt kroschel in breckenridge where tonight a hate crime is being investigated by the district attorney, two men from the front range face felony charges. related to an attack on his bike path. it happened last month during oktoberfest. thousands of people were here in breckenridge. the victim was knocked off his

the entire attack captured by a witness on a cell phone. two men george howard and raymond solis are charged in this biased motivated crime. the district attorney says the video evidence shot on a cell phone camera by a witness is pivotal in this case. while it's hard to watch, it does show the amount of hostility and anger involved in this attack. and other dead colorado voter. tonight at 10:00 cbs4 investigators have turned up more colorado voting regularly's. >> he died at the age of 88. but then something remarkable happened. well after his death, a vote was cast in his name. six weeks after he died, he voted? >> he did. unfortunately it was counted. >> just the latest in a series of dead voters we've uncovered. >> how many but -- how many is
