behind it. a wet stretch to the morning with fog, rain, and snow in parts of the state. we will tell you where. live from colorado's news channel, this is cbs4 morning news. >> it is so foggy out in some places you cannot see 20 feet. >> let's get over to ashton who can tell us exactly where it is settling in. >> i wanted to quickly show you are streetlight camera the street from cbs4. if you look closely you see all of the precipitation. it is some drizzle with low clouds and fog this morning. the biggest issue is on the southeast side of town. that is where the biggest problem with fog is this morning. you can see here on doppler 4000 we have the low clouds ever. right now let's get a check on the traffic. here is joel.

this is as you are trying to get on the ramp from colfax to northbound i-25. and then of course you see the lower visibility we have keep in mind that can bring with it some hydroplaning as well. we have breaking news in denver. it is an apparent barricade situation near iowa street and police are there and so is jamie leary. >> it is so sensitive we cannot have our cameig see jamie. tell us what you are seeing and what you understand is happening out there. >> reporter: denver police have not asked as to turn our lights off but we assess the situation and decided not to do this because they are trying to make sure the situation doesn't escalate. you can see an armor vehicle with s.w.a.t. teams here as well as denver

residential area on the corner of utica and iowa. we don't know if there's anyone else with him but they are using some serious training right now and communication right now. you can hear them talking behind the but they are being very calm in addressing this man. they are telling him come out of the garage with your hands up. we don't want to get hu we are not going anywhere until some form of communication with you happens. they are asking him to try to make some noises inside the garage to let police know he is doing okay. that has not happened with no communication. we are just hearing from the s.w.a.t. team right now who is trying to calmly talk this man out of the garage. we did speak with denver police

he was targeted because he was gay. these two men, george howard and maintenance of these are charged with bias crimes and assault. one of the jurors who convicted him was racist. he was convicted of unlawful sexual contact in 2010 accused of groping two girls. his case has gone to the supreme court because of words said in the jury room during his trial. >> they exhorted the jurors to convict him because he is mexican. >> his attorney said his client was denied the right to an impartial jury. attornies hearsay hr statement should remain protected and not be admissible as evidence one

let's get a check on weather and traffic. >> we have fog and drizzle. good morning everybody. low clouds hovering around the denver metro area. in the high country we still have light snow shower's. no problems with visibility but here in the metro it is a problem especially on the southeast side of town. we are looking at the concerned when it drops below a half a mile. that is currently the case for parker and greenwood village. generally speaking there is some fog this morning. just be aware of that as you get on the roadway. it is much cooler this morning than it was yesterday. 35 outside right now. you will definitely notice the

41 in a high temperature of 50 or 21 degrees colder than yesterday. so a real taste of all for the middle of the week. right now let's check in with joel for your traffic. check we've been watching from our cbs4 mountain cam in dc some of those taillights and headlights coming along and visibility very low from the high country. in town you are dealing with lo back. who we are across the denver metro area with a closure in place from northbound i-25. look at all of that yellow we have. it is the fog showing up on the index. that is affecting the drive along e e-470 and portions of sixth avenue into the high country. today the presidential campaign makes another step in colorado.

he had a lot of questions for nutritionist amanda turner. >> what do you eat the night before a race? >> a higher carbohydrate meal. >> reporter: well we talked about measure we also spoke about what to eat while training for a raise. >> you should have about one third of a plate carbohydrate and then vegetables. that would be ideal. >> i'm trying to gain weight because i get so run. >> if you have higher volume things that means you feel more full. >> reporter: as we added chocolate chips to our energy bites for a little fun flavor, turner talked about how you can train your body to function better with a proper balance of nutritious whole foods.

concern when it drops to a half- mile or lower. for the time being that is really only parker. we had a much bigger problem in southeast aurora but currently the visibility is up to a mild. we will be watching greenwood village where the visibility is .6. everybody should see at least some fog this morning with drizzle. be prepared for t well with temperatures 35. yesterday at this time it was 61. it is a big change this one compared to yesterday and it feels like october this morning 25 degrees colder than we were yesterday. boulder 25 degrees and it is colder here in the metro area than it is in some mountain

boulder. 40s on the eastern plains. you can see doppler 4000 showing the low clouds we have in place. the cold front responsible for the weather is down to the southeast of us in places like kansas. as it moves farther away this cool air will modify. we will be in the 50s today going right back into the 70s tomorrow with 73 for the temperature and friday up to 81. for the third weekend in a row if the gorgeous with sunshine saturday and sunday and high temperatures in the mid 70s. that is your weather. right now let's get a check on the traffic. here is joel. >> you can see the headlights coming by and that is the only way you can tell the camera is functioning. look at this with low visibility coming down this morning. in town it is a better situation

spots. you can see that on the road weather index from e-470 and we have seen along parker road with 285 out to conifer and the high country including us-6 down into lakewood this morning. you are seeing lowered visibility. tickets lower. you have lower stopping distance and the roads will be slicker. northbound we closure and a couple other construction projects in place causing closures as well. taking a look at the high country we have concerns when we see moisture here. it is still a pretty good drive. thanks a lot. they are homeless children encouraged to capture their hopes and dreams through photography. they were given digital cameras as we can kathy walsh got to
