f0 hi, everybody. good morning to you. 4:30now. this is the news on cbs4, thursday, 13th of october. i'm alan gionet. >> i'm britt moreno. thanks for waking up with us. let's get a check on the forecast and figure out what it's all looking like. outside today. >> yes, indeed, after probably staying inside yesterday, which was a good idea, with all the cloud cover, the drizzle and of course the chilly temperatures yesterday, by far the chilliest day we've had so far this season. today we start a warmup. for now there's a lot of cloud cover not only over denver, but much of the state. these clouds will gradually clear as we progress through the morning. by this afternoon we should see a lot of sunshine. quick check of the visibility, none of the fog issues like we

central park boulevard. road work c-470 on the hog back and police activity at spruce. denver police want to find out who shot and killed a person last night. shawn chitness live with what we have learned. >> reporter: we were able to learn in the last few hours that this is a homicide denver police are investigating. understandable they spent quite behind me, this is the intersection they had closed off and had a lot of different officers and cruisers in the area for most of the night and into the morning. just opening up this area really within the last 10 or 20 minutes. if you look at what the scene looked like earlier, they took over much of the apartment complex as well as the business area that is here.

side and businesses on the other side. someone was shot and killed and denver police are investigating this as a homicide. it's unclear who they might be looking for, if they have suspect descriptions of who might be responsible, as well as what led up to this shooting. those are the details we're waiting to hear from denver police. we first learned about this a little bit before 10:00 p.m. wednesday night. a lot of time has gone by. we're waiting to learn more from police later today. live i cbs4 morning news. arapahoe county sheriff's deputies want to find shooting suspects. they found a 17-year-old boy shot in the leg on florida near parker last night. he is expected to survive. they describe the two suspects only as black males who got away in a silver chevy impala. trump's campaign spends a third day in florida as the campaign continues to push back against a wave of new claims. more women are coming forward

past. our brian webb has the latest. >> reporter: donald trump's camp is demanding a retraction and threatening legal action after the "new york times" report claims he groped and kissed two women decades ago. in it, rachel crooks, a 22-year- old receptionist for a company in trump company, claims trump kissed her on the cheeks and mouth after she introduced herself to him for the time. jessica leads says trump touched her under her skirt as she sat next to him on a flight 30 years ago. >> it was like he had six arms. he was all over the place. >> reporter: reports of forcible touching and kissing emerged in two other publications yesterday, including people magazine. more troubling still, this 1992 entertainment tonight video in which trump could allegedly be heard making questionable

bomb squad investigates an ied in nederland, they determined it wasn't active. the device was detonated. we are now awaiting word in there's any surveillance video showing who might have left it there. it has people living there concerned. >> oh, it's a big deal, because it's so scary. this is the center of town. this is. this is where everybody comes and shops and meet neighbors and talks to people. >> authorities still have not released what was used to make that explosive device. we have another hurricane picking up steam, this one a category 4. it's heading towards bermuda. forecasters say hurricane nicole is extremely dangerous. it has maximum sustained winds of 130 miles per hour. today hurricane nicole is expected to pick up speed and pass near or over bermuda. time to take a look at

>> way to make a stand. >> my goodness. the search is on now for two men who stole a big pile of cash in aurora. it happened outside the key bank on havana near mississippi late last month. police say the victim withdrew $80,000 from the bank as he was leaving, two thieves knocked the victim to the ground and took the money. the men were last seen in a white lincoln lx. it did not have license plates. game day. new this and espn analyst adam shiftier says trevor siemian will start for the broncos tonight. as the team gets ready to take on the chargers, they are fully aware they've not had a lot of trouble beating the bolts. broncos have won an nfl record 15 straight division games on the road. that's five straight years of going to san diego, oakland, kansas city and leaving with

continue today and in the upcoming weekend. tomorrow we're going to be near a record high temperature in the denver area. everybody across colorado will be above normal. temperatures right now stapleton at 42. lakewood 44. 41 in thornton and 44 over in the golden area. state-wide, mountain temperatures for the most part 20s and 30s now. 52 in grand burlington. yesterday the clouds held tight. we've seen the cloud cover overnight and we still have cloud cover this morning. these clouds, i promise, are going to clear out. unlike yesterday, we will see some clearing today. by this afternoon we should have mostly sunny skies. futurecast in fact over the next 48 hours not showing much, except occassional cloud cover. shower northern corner in the

currently backing far northern -- impacting far northern california. in san diego where the broncos will be this evening, it's going to be very pleasant as it usually is in san diego. temperatures will be in the 60s coming up this evening for the game. of course, coverage here, cbs4 starting at 6:00. temperatures today will be in the 70s along the front range. yes, that's right, 70s, after 49 yesterday. a real nice warmup for today. then tomorrow the record is 85 degrees. we are expecting 83 for the and for the weekend upper 70s, close to 80. we'll stay around 80 to start next week. joel. i have the clicker in my hand, so i can't clap, but this is me giving applause. i-25 and 84th past thornton parkway, it's nice and wide open. you can see that green as you extend down through town. that means we're at or near posted speed limits. one problem on c-470 to the south of 285, southbound direction, which is really the

paving work. police activity blocking off a portion of roadway, north of colfax there in denver. police have been out there looking. it's not affecting, it's on spruce between 14th and 17th, so it is affecting just those side streets. keep that in mind this morning. southbound coming into town 9 minutes from 120th to i-70. thank you so much. question for you, do selfies make people happy? according to a the university of california irvine, the answer is yes. the study finds smiling selfies increases your chance of happiness. it was conducted over the span of four weeks with 41 students. they found that over time if they took a smiling selfie early for the rest of the day they remained upbeat. but can too many selfies be too much? >> when we grew up, we took

tax dollars at atm's at strip clubs and pot dispensaries. >> reporter: not exactly. the way this ad is worded it sounds like she's okay with welfare recipients using, spending tax dollars at these establishments. she's not. but she is okay with them accessing the money there. here's what you need to know. four years ago congress required states to come up with policies to prevent withdrawals using electronic benefits transfer cards, at atm's at liquor stores, casinos, and pot shops. the state legislature passed a bill to comply with that law. carroll voted against it. she said it was a protest vote, she saw the legislation as dog whistle politics. she also worried about banking deserts, saying the only atm in some neighborhoods might be in

but her campaign wasn't able to give me examples of that. this law is bad. while there's no evidence in the ad tax dollars are being wasted on things like alcohol, marijuana and lap dances, there is evidence these illegal withdrawals. cbs4's brian maass found hundreds of welfare withdrawals for thousands of dollars at al year. i'm political specialist shaun boyd, that's a reality check. >> you can find all of shaun's reports at cbsdenver.com. here's sports. trevor siemian listed as questionable this week, but all signs so far have pointed towards him playing tonight in san diego. his status just one of many issues the broncos dealing with on a short week of preparation as they try and bounce back
