overhead. all the clouds from yesterday, they're still here. but unlike yesterday, the clouds won't be nearly as pesky today. they should clear out by mid- morning and this afternoon we should see a lot of sunshine. a nice warmup starts today with highs in the 70s. near record heat coming up tomorrow. we'll talk about that in just a moment. now let's check in with joel. looks like the bulk of the crews have moved out of the way. this has been blocking the ramp from westbound colfax to ou flashing lights out there, say that 10 times fast. we still got some in the way, so that's expected to be cleared out in the next half hour. >> thank you. something in the water this morning. donald trump's campaign spends a third straight day in florida as the campaign continues to push back against a new wave of new claims of past inappropriate behavior against women. our brian webb has the latest on this from new york. >> reporter: donald trump's

and threatening legal action after a "new york times" report claims the republican nominee groped and kissed two women decades ago. in it, rachel crooks, then a 22- year-old receptionist for a company located in trump tower, claims he kissed her on the cheeks and mouth after she introduced herself to him for the first time. jessica leaves, says trump touched her under her skirt as she sat next to him on a flight 30 years like he had six arms. he was all over the place. >> reporter: reports of forcible touching and kissing at the hands of trump emerged in two other publications yesterday, including people magazine. more troubling still, this 1992 entertainment tonight video in which trump could allegedly be heard making questionable comments about a young girl. >> you're going up the escalator? >> yeah. >> i'm going to be dating her in 10 years. can you believe it? >> reporter: many republican

the republican nominee. >> now is the time to stay the course. >> reporter: hillary clinton's campaign seized on the new york times report. >> you know, this latest incident about, you know, how he treats women, he double downed, he double downed on his excuse its locker room talk. >> reporter: yesterday wikileaks posted more e-mails they say came from clinton's campaign manager, that her campaign -- >> the clinton campaign has no public events today, but she is holding private fundraisers in san francisco and los angeles. arapahoe county sheriff's deputies want to find two shooting suspects. they found a 17-year-old boy shot in the leg on florida near parker last night. he is expected to survive. deputies describe the suspects only as two black males who got away in a silver chevy impala.

investigation into a suspicious device left at the nederland police department. investigators are working to find out who left it. bomb squad robots examined that device for more than 12 hours. they have determined it was active, but did not detonate. early wednesday a reverse 911 call went out to people and businesses in that area. the device was detonated by the bomb squad. we are now awaiting word if there is surveillance video showing who left it. it has people living there >> oh, it's a big deal, because it's so scary. this is the center of town. this is. this is where everybody comes and shops and, you know, meets the neighbors and talks to people. >> we still don't know what was used to make that device. we have another hurricane to talk about, picking up steam. it's a category 4 heading towards bermuda. forecasters say hurricane nicole is dangerous already.

winds of 130 miles per hour. today hurricane nicole is expected to pick up speed and pass near or over bermuda. back here at home it's really smooth sailing. ashton is here to talk about a very warm day. good morning. it's getting smoother, that's for sure. good morning, britt. hi allen and good thursday morning, everybody. want to check in with our weather watchers, including john at coal creek canyon, degrees. not as chilly as yesterday morning at this time. phil curry, franktown, reporting 41. at the bus stop this morning it won't be as cold. we'll be around 40. skies will be mostly cloudy just like yesterday morning. the clouds are high enough that visibility and fog is not a problem. the cloud cover we do have, it's going to be clearing out by mid- to late morning. by lunchtime, partly cloudy skies. 67. yesterday's high was 49. it's going to be far warmer

today. a high temperature around 74 degrees this afternoon. this is just the start of a warmup. tomorrow we're going to be close to a record high temperature. we'll show you the full fiveday4cast in just a moment. now let's check in with joel for the latest on the commute. love the sound of all of that. thank you, ashton. good morning, everybody. take a look at from our cbs4 mile high cam. closure in the westbound direction of colfax at i-95. will be in place the next quarter hour or some road work along c-470 near 285. we have police activity going on that's closed off a portion of spruce between 14th and 17th. that's that icon you see just to the north of colfax. how about drive times? southbound coming into town looking great. still looking great both directions along i-270 along commerce city, speeds in the upper 50s. denver police want to find out who shot and killed a

block of south molina. and our shawn chitness is there. >> reporter: they just opened up this spot in the last hour, clearing this location. we know one person did die in this shooting. take a look at the scene earlier when denver police were just arriving into the area that took over much of this side of the street of galena, where there is a business co apartments as well. that's where it appears this shooting happened and the person that died was found and we did see quite a few police cars as well as a large number of officers in the area conducting this investigation. unclear what led up to that shooting, and who all might be involved, as well as if denver police have a suspect or a group of suspects that they are looking for. we are hoping to learn more from them later today as they continue their investigation.

cbs4 morning news. boston police say a shooting suspect armed with a high powered weapon is dead, and two police officers shot in a violent incident overnight. this happened last night in east boston. the man armed with an assault style weapon. police commissioner says right now looks like it was possibly a domestic incident that went even worse. there are reports of heroic actions by other officers to save their injured collea the officers, most of the officers that were involved tonight. they did a good job of making sure they were able to do what they had to do as police officers. >> one of the officers was shot multiple times and is listed in critical condition. the second officer in stable condition. a teen suicide leads to the discovery of racist and anti- semitic chat messages between some boulder high school students. the school has already expelled five students and police say

of a nazi themed facebook group chat room. they attended six different schools along the front range and western slope. >> reporter: a disturbing facebook chat group. >> i think they were just joking around, took it too far. >> reporter: now five boulder prep high school students are expelled after a friend's suicide revealed a neonazi e facebook group. boulder police say 15 students from six area schools, openly discussed executing jews and african-americans in what they called the 4 th reich's official group chat. police say the leader committed suicide to show his allegiance to the nazi party. other comments include white power and death to all jews and the n word.

group and was surprised to learn about their involvement. >> the things i saw on there were just like, i would not expect them to say that in real life. >> reporter: boulder valley school district says students involved in the group face disciplinary action. they issued a statement saying -- racial slurs around boulder high aren't that uncommon. >> like 95% of the kids here definitely yell, like, slurs or are joking around and jokingly say racist things. >> reporter: boulder pd says there was not enough evidence to support criminal action against the 15 students involved. as offensive and repugnant as the online conversation was, the law does not allow for criminal charges simply because

good morning, everyone. thanks for joining us. a report published in the british journal of sports medicine says strenuous exercise during pregnancy isn't likely to prolong labor or increase the risk of premature

watch. the international olympic committee reviewed existing studies to conclude exercising throughout pregnancy also may reduce a woman's need for a c- section. british researchers have found a drug already used to treat multiple sclerosis and this may reverse some of the disease's physical toll on the body. the study followed more than 400 people who took the drug. 28% showed signs of physical improv who were given a different drug. and new research finds people with autism are more likely to use logic over emotion to make decisions. the study revealed those with autism use logic because they are not as easily influenced by gut reactions. >> interesting information. weather and traffic every 10 minutes. ashton is here to talk about what we have ahead. our enormous temperature

yesterday we topped out at only 49 degrees. we're almost that warm so to speak here this morning. 44 in stapleton. 45 in littleton. you'll notice when you step out the door this morning it's not as chilly as it was yesterday at this time. that being said, jackets are still necessary. fort collins is at 36. it's 37 right now in greeley. we have 30s and 40s throughout the eastern plains. 30s in the high country. 30s and 40s for the western slope. there is still some cloud cover on top fog and visibility won't be an issue for the morning commute like it was yesterday. futurecast, i'm going to fast forward this over the next 48 hours, you can see very little happening over colorado, other than our big warmup. we'll be close to a record tomorrow. a couple of showers possible in the far northwest stretches of the state, up near dinosaur national monument. by saturday morning. that will come from a storm

california. showers into portland and seattle. mostly sunny skies in san diego this afternoon. game forecast mid-60s in san diego for the broncos and chargers, right here on cbs4 this evening. temperatures this afternoon will be in the 70s across the front range. it's a big warmup compared to yesterday. but tomorrow's warmup is more significant. we have 83 in the forecast. the record is 85 set back in 1962. we'll be close to that record. then joel, as we look at the en saturday, sunday. similar weather for monday. we're going to lock into a pattern. i like locking into that one. not going to have the broncos at mile high tonight, but you have this ramp 's reopened colfax to get to i-25. southbound coming down into town, still seeing speeds in the 50s and 60s. more volume in the westbound direction of i-76.

down. similar situation along i-270. c-470 near 285, along the hog back, where they've been doing paving operations, getting the cones out of the way. police activity spruce, a heads up if you're heading out the door. northbound along parker road still looking great with speeds into the 40s. speeds into the 50s both directions i-70 between i-25 and i-225. a question for everyone this people happy? according to a new study the answer is yes. the study finds smiling selfies increase your chance of happiness. it was conducted over the span of four weeks with 41 students. they found over time if people took a smiling selfie early for the rest of the day they remained upbeat. but can too many selfies be too much? >> when we grew up, we took

places. we reflected out instead of reflecting in. >> i just can't get on board with the selfie stick yet. but the study finds you can become a happier person by smiling in that selfie, even when you are faking a smile. everybody, say cheese. >> or you can take a picture of something else. broncos on the road tonight and here on cbs4. they're going to try to shake off that home loss when they take on the san diego chargers. >> they favorite. this game will be important, it's on tonight on cbs4 at 6:00. romi bean is here to talk about the game. there's so much to talk about, including coach kubiak. >> very important game. the broncos have their first afc west matchup tonight. these games are so important, the broncos quarterback chris harris, jr. calls them

kubiak. doctors ordered him to take a week off. joe decamillis will be the interim head coach. offensive coordinator rick dennison, a long time kubiak assistant, will call plays on the offense. and defensive coordinator wade phillips, he'll keep doing what he's been doing. phillips has been in the interim role three times in his career, so if joe decamillis has any questions, doesn't have to look very far. >> the good thing is, wade has he's a great sounding board. he's a guy that hired me in dallas, so i've got a lot of respect for him and he's probably happy he's not doing it. yeah, he gave me advice, and other people have too. it's been positive around the league, and hopefully we can get to 1-0. that's what we want to try to get to. >> quarterback trevor siemian is expected to start after sitting out this past sunday's loss to the falcons.

tie. romi, we missed the memo on this. but we have a lot of spirit. >> it's all inside. >> question, i think the fact came up that von miller has sacked phillip rivers 11 times, most times ever. what's going to happen this game, do you think he'll make it another time? >> i think he definitely will. the broncos, like mark haas told us earlier, they've won 15 straight ad von miller is not thinking about that or sacks, he's just thinking about having another best performance. he really lives game to game and doesn't think about the stats while he's playing. >> we'll keep track thought the day -- throughout the day. thank you, romi. you can hear her week days 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.

morning. we have cloud cover covering colorado for the time being. the clouds will clear out by mid-morning and this afternoon we'll see a lot of sunshine. checking with our weather watchers, ron in lone tree reporting 49 degrees this morning, saying he's surprised to wake up to something so mild. compared to yesterday, i agree with you, ron. don in johnstown reporting 36 degrees. won't be stop as yesterday, but still chilly at 40. let's check in with joel. unfortunately after that i have to talk about trouble. southbound coming into town, a stall in the left lane, not express toll lane. you can see the cars trying to get by. it's slowing things down. speeds dipping down into the 40s behind that, that's an average in some of those lanes speeds in the teens and 20s.

headlines this morning for a cupcake that some people seem to think is racist. the bakery owner named the cupcake with an oreo baked inside, mr. president. customers lashed out over that. the baker said her decision was partly based on the fact president obama's favorite cookie is an oreo. she changed the name to the professor. this man is taking a 21st century approach on a tradition many of us grew he's using solar panels to power it's freezers in his ice cream truck. he says he's been working on this about three years in las vegas. >> the noise from a generator, the maintenance, the fuel, the emissions, anything. solar panels will last 25 years or more. >> way to go there. harold invested at least $2,000 in the system.
