through, tough game to watch. the latest on the grassfire in parker that came within feet of some beautiful new homes, firefighters stopped the flames just in time. andrea flores has been in parker all afternoon. you've learned now how that fire started. >> reporter: that's right, karen. south metro fire says a man working on a driveway gate accidentally started the fire. as you can see behind me, that fire quickly spread over this hill toward homes and roads putting residents on edge. >> when mother nature wants to give you a scare, she can do it. >> reporter: ryan fruworth and his lawyer lindsay say they have a lot to be -- and his daughter lindsay say they have a lot to be thankful for after flames came dangerously close to their home. >> initially when you hear that, you're saying oh, it can't be that close. so i wasn't too worried about it. >> reporter: but panic set in when the family found firefighters in their backyard.

foot away from my fence in my backyard. i was really scared. >> reporter: inside the family dog cappy home alone. the fire started 3:00 thursday near crowfoot valley road and worked its way up a hill toward five homes near rain tree circle. >> with the small breeze, warm temperatures and extremely dry fuel and the slope the wildfire was able to pick up some momentum. >> reporter: but crews quickly stopped the fire in its tracks. >> i feel really blessed. colorado is a dry wouldn't think that there be a fire in october, but it can happen any time anywhere. >> reporter: south metro says the fire serves as a good reminder that wildfire season can last all year long. now the family is grateful crews kept them out of harm's way. >> thank you because you saved my house, my family, yeah, just thank you for your hard work. >> reporter: now two people were hurt. one person was treated for

firefighter, also treated for unknown injuries and went back to work. they're both expected to be okay. live in douglas county andrea flores, cbs4 news. the city of denver using a rarely enforced law to shut down a popular bar we're told because cold crush is a health risk to our community. jeff todd on that story live in the rhino neighborhood. jeff, you talked to some people who think this business is being unfairly targeted. >> reporter: yeah, jim. this sign was put up yesterday morning saying that it is a public nuisance. this is a rarely used action, but it comes after a homicide investigation started here early monday morning. on monday morning detectives found bullet holes all over 27th street outside of the cold crush bar. neighbors say sunday nights are out of control. >> there's always drama or fights especially on sunday nights. most of the time you can't even get to the alley. i have a hard time trying to

>> reporter: several people told us denver officers do provide security at the bar, but this week the city decided to shut down the bar. it suspended their liquor license and could start a nuisance abatement case. >> to hear it was closed, it was heart breaking. >> reporter: laney hodges said this place is just like her home. >> i know that i can come to cold crush and find people that appreciate diversity and social justice. >> reporter: the city says it's a public health risk letting the bar stay open. >> i think there is a sense that there might be some targeting going on because it is a black owned business and because there tend to be black patrons here. >> reporter: the city says it's looking into cases of disruptive and illegal activities. >> it would be sad to see it go because it's really the heart of this whole neighborhood right here. >> we are interested in working with people to make this work for everyone because this will be a huge loss to the community. >> reporter: just take a look.

10 days. >> yeah. put this game behind it, learn from it and play like who we are. >> reporter: thank you very much. back to the studio. >> the broncos now 4-2 looking all at the 4-1 raiders. so the division race getting very interesting. >> been a long time since the raiders held the broncos in the division. a man convicted of sexual assault on a child is on the run. 28-year-old timothy chavez took off before he was sentencing. our karen investigators about why they're so desperate to find him. >> reporter: according to court documents chavez has a long history of sexual assault involving children and at the time of this attack he was a registered sex offender. instead of serving a prison sentence, 28-year-old timothy chavez is on the run. he was tried and convicted of sexually assaulting a teenage girl. according to court records, the incident happened in january of

his victim was a 16-year-old co- worker. the report says after only working with the girl twice he followed her outside during a smoke break. he would eventually push her into an enclosed dumpster area and sexual assault the young girl. chavez was found guilty in girl and set to be sentenced in early august, but police say he never showed up to court. he was already a registered sex oftener when the attack happened making this his -- offender when the attack happened making this his second assault on a child increasing the number of years he's looking at. he's wanted on a nationwide warrant and should be considered dangerous. if you see chavez or might know where he is, you're asked to call west minister police or ?: reach out to the denver crime stoppers and remain anonymous. you could also receive a reward. a troubling story in boulder, the investigation into a student suicide led

group for nazis. you talked to one of the teens who was expelled from school because of this, lauren. >> reporter: he tells me that his fellow group member's suicide was a result of depression and not any allegiance to nazi views as suggested by police. he also says no one meant anything that was posted in the chat. do you think about killing people based on the color of their skin or -- >> no. i don't think it's funny. i turned off notifications from the klatt -- chat so i didn't have to read the things that were said. >> reporter: the former high school senior sage reynolds said the derogatory comments posted in a facebook group called the 4th reich were never meant to be taken seriously. >> it was wrong to let it get that far. they were saying things i get

>> reporter: reynolds said the joke was started by a fellow student or friend of his and lasted one or two days. though reynolds said he did not contribute racist comments to the chat, he was one of five students expelled for involvement. another student involved in the chat who asked to remain anonymous wrote cbs4 saying in part, "i want to make it clear no one in the commune was at risk. on behalf of everyone -- community was at risk. on behalf of everyone in the group sorry who everyone this may have reynolds tells me that he is now the target of threats on facebook for his role in in group. he also says that if he -- in this group. he also says that if he could go back and do it directly, he would have left the group immediately. donald trump says allegations of sexual misconduct are false. coming up why he says that women are making up those stories.

>> yeah, guys. >> reporter: we're here with bradley. let's start with the beginning of the game. you guys give up two really long drives. what happened in those first two drives? >> we just didn't come out with as focused as we need to be. they came out with a lot of juice. we knew their backs was against the wall. they were going into the game 1- 4. so we knew that we could see anything and they were able to drive on us and that's something that we pride ourself we didn't do that well at all. >> reporter: what happened in the 2nd half because you guys obviously did a good job keeping them out of the end zone after this opening drive? what changed? >> we always adjust, you know. we're never worried about somebody dominating us the whole game. we just have to adjust and i think it took us a little bit to wake up and i think we did that and did a great job of that. >> reporter: you guys obviously have a long break before the monday night game.

campaigned today for clinton. she delivered a powerful speech about the accusation against trump. >> i can't stop thinking about this. it has shaken me to my core in a way that i couldn't have predicted. it's that feeling of terror and violation that too many women have felt when someone has grabbed them or forced himself on them and they've said no, but he didn't listen. this is not normal. this this is disgraceful. it is intolerable. it doesn't matter what party you belong to, democrat, republican, independent, no woman deserves to be treated this way. none of us deserves this kind of abuse. >> donald trump is threatening to sue the new york times and people magazine which printed allegations from three women. let's talk about that weather. one day of cold weather, but the temperatures shot back up.

we do have some clouds streaming in now, a little rain that may hit the ground in parts of our northwestern corner, but the rest of us just a few clouds building, overall fairly clear and a few clouds overnight. the main picture is high pressure building in the southwest over the four corner states. we have a pretty powerful system making landfall in the pacific northwest. that doesn't really come our direction because our high pressure is so powerful it shoots it more to the north. we may get a few shower in the high country overall we'll be very dry. on our futurecast not much activity. we are looking at mostly sunny skies tomorrow morning, maybe a few early clouds and throughout the afternoon and evening mellow conditions outside, maybe a few clouds but fire danger will be high in some areas tomorrow. we have our red flag warning at noon tomorrow for the san luis valley. the area could see winds up to about 35 miles an hour and very low humidity. heading into wyoming, nebraska,

it's very dry across the southwest. so just be very careful. even though we aren't under the red flag warnings, just be cautious. 48 degrees tonight in denver, 39 in greeley, 45 in burlington, 51 in boulder, 48 in grand junction. tomorrow we warm up even more, our record tomorrow 85 degrees. 84 in denver, 82 for boulder and fort collins, 85 burlington. ray could hit 90 tomorrow, 69 eagle and aspen, 75 craig, 80 grand junction. your five-day forecast if you're running in the rock and roll half marathon this weekend, sunday morning should be mild, mid-50, lots of sunshine. 80s and 70s this weekend, cooldown potentially tuesday with a slight rain chance, maybe a little again wednesday and we warm back up to end the week. it will feel like fall next week with the 60s even though it might still be dry.

>> reporter: von miller talking in the locker room tonight after the broncos suffered their second straight defeat. you look at this game and really anything that could go wrong went wrong with the broncos. >> reporter: across the board. there was penalties. the defense gave up a long drive mentioned, that early touchdown that put them in the hole early on and the broncos offense couldn't get anything going to try to get back in the game. when they hung around because the defense did tighten things up, they could never get the ball across midfield to give themselves a chance. they made it competitive, but it was to overcome. >> reporter: tonight we wanted to know what broncos uniform do you like the best? the orange jerseys they were wearing tonight.
