they get ready to send those ballots to registered voters in all of this happening as both campaigns have some top supporters in town including for the democratics and hillary clinton's with top supporters going through different campuses. bernie sanders joins senator elizabeth warren as they campaign on behalf of secretary clinton last night with sanders around 3:30 university today in fort collins and then heading to cu boulder at then campus at 5:00. both of the senators yesterday speaking at the campus urging young people to get at the vote as they did a campus tour. donald trump, jr. returning to colorado today. last week he was in north carolina and donald trump, jr. will meet with supporters and

the centennial gun club and then in the afternoon trump junior will head to the sink in boulder. his father arrives in colorado tomorrow and will first speak down in the springs and then head over to grand junction on tuesday. all of this with three weeks to go before election day and of course it is important to have both campaigns having top supporters in colorado gearing up for the final presidential debate on news. >> shawn, thank you for that. questions surround a shooting in denver near martin luther king jr boulevard. police have not said much. we do not know how many victims there are or if police have a suspect in custody. we will bring you more information as it becomes available. >> let us get to weather and traffic every ten minutes on

weekend. >> it was awesome. some folks are looking for something cooler and a cool down does start today with 70s this afternoon and a red flag warning posted for denver and eastern plains with middle park also included. the concern of course is the elevated threat for a wildfire today because of the dry soil combined with the warmer temperatures. 42 degrees right now 31 on the planes at limon. we have a couple 60s in the mountains this morning with the wind only at 5 miles-per-hour. it will take some time before it ramps up. i do not think we will have any issues with windy closer to lunchtime when you notice the wind. temperatures today 10 degrees below where we were yesterday. yesterday the high was 86 and

around 10:00 last night. there are no expected delays this morning. right now home owners are out of their homes because and wildfire in eagle county. it is called the freeman fire burning nearly 300 acres. three helicopters are helping firefighters at this point we understand no homes are threatened. conditions are so dry in colorado boulder county issued a burn ban our dry weather and the wind forced the cancellation of a big event last night it was to be the second night of the lantern festival at the speedway in the cone. candles pushing lanterns into the sky but the wind was up and people living nearby were worried about the lanterns starting fires. they canceled it with andrea

see the sunrise. we will see a lot of sunshine today with temperatures above normal once again reaching the midway point for the month. i thought we would take a look at where we are so far. 6 degrees above normal with our daytime high so far this month for the lows 3 degrees warmer than normal so far this month with precipitation running a corridor below normal since october. seeing anything today. for now winds notepad picking up later on especially the mountains with wind gusts reaching over 70 miles-per-hour. those higher mountain passes will be extremely windy today with a red flag warning and wind gusts up to 40 miles-per- hour. we have 50s and 60s in the colorado high country and high

nasdaq up a fraction. ohio governor plans to ban wells fargo for a full year. this follows in the footsteps of california and illinois. the company has been under fire for unauthorized accounts. the federal deficit increased for the first time since 2006 with spending exceeding revenue for the fiscal year. and pepsi is reducing sugar from its drinks. the goal is to have two thirds of its drinks have 100 calories or fewer from added sugar. pepsi will add low-calorie options and be formulate existing drinks. >> that is good news. let us go to your top stories with a man accused of shooting a san francisco police officer in the had dying in the hospital last night. the suspect was reportedly

police chased and shot him arrested him after a short standoff by using a device to distract him. the officer we understand is partially paralyzed. rain has helped firefighters get a handle on the little valley fire that is just route 22 homes in nevada. it sparked north of carson city on friday. not all of them are still being threat some residents brought food and drinks to those firefighters to try to say thank you. it is not clear how the fire started. and olympian6 is mourning the death of his daughter shot and killed early yesterday in lexington, kentucky. trinity gay was the daughter of tyson gay. they tell us the 50-year-old was not in either car but it is

crossfire. police detained two people for questioning so far. tyson gay competed in the last three summer olympics. his daughter was also a sprinter. new video of a group of people here trying to save a man from a burning car. cell phone video shows where it landed near a river in palm bay, florida. the driver strapped in by his seatbelt. one good samaritan tried to pull him out but leave him alone. police ended up teasing and arresting the man. it has not felt like fall with 55 degrees in denver but fashion is tracking a cool down. -- ashton is tracking a cool down. >> a cold front is on the way too we will talk about that plus your travel forecast straight ahead. you are watching cbs4 morning

very tough area on i-25 with the reported accident southbound at i-225 having some backups on southbound 225 as a result. maybe university may be your best way to get into the tech center this morning with ashton altieri in the weather center. good morning. good monday morning, everybody. time to check the travel forecast with rain once again in the pacific northwest for as the biggest issue of the wind in the mountains up to 70 miles-per-hour this afternoon. for the eastern part of the country a few showers in parts of the mid-atlantic region mostly cloudy in dc with miami heading up to 84 and dallas almost 90. the major airports have philadelphia having weather- related delays and also in phoenix because of runway construction projects.

reopening. the train crashed last month killing one person and injuring 100 others. 64 tracks are open but two others still being worked on. the speed limit was also lowered to 5 miles-per-hour. investigators say the train engineer with speeding before the crash. two people taken to the hospital with serious injuries after a small plane crash in georgia. this was in stockbridge. an 8- year-old girl the children's hospital. the other victim was a man. it was an exciting weekend with another rock 'n roll half denver marathon in the books. you may feel like i do if you ran. i am hurting a little bit with 14,000 runners signed up for this event and i was one of a team of four of staff members. >> you out ran everybody.
