broncos. mark joining me as always. will parks, how you doing, man? >> i'm doing good, how you guys doing? >> nice to have a couple days off? >> definitely. >> got to go back to arizona. what was that like? >> it was amazing to go out there and receive all that love from that community, like i said it was definitely one to remember, the greatest three years of my life. to go back out there this past weekend, it was definitely a good one. >> did it make you wonder how you ever played there as hot as it was? >> yeah, i forgot i there. it was crazy. them boys fought hard. we were obviously not able to get the win but they fought hard. >> practice today, back on the field after a couple days, a light day for you guys. was it at least to get back out there and get the juices flowing a little bit? >> it was good to get back out there with the guys and get the juices flowing, the blood moving. we went over the film, went over the corrections and we went out there to have fun. >> what was that like to go
6:32 pm
maybe in san diego? >> obviously it was a slow start for us. we wished we could have that back. it's a new day now. we talked about as a whole defense we watched the film, respect the whole defense. the offense, watched it as a whole offense. special teams watched too. we went over the corrections, made the corrections and now we're ready to play houston this week. >> let's take a look at tonight's coors light cold hard facts. fourth in points allowed 21st in rushing yards per game. but let's talk about the first couple drives. opposing teams have had their way in the first drive of the game four times in the six games they've scored touchdowns a that happened again in san diego. what's up with the slow starts for this defense? >> that's not us. the first, man, it's something we've got to control. that's what we pride ourselves on, being a tenacious defense, going out there, putting our offense in great field position.
6:33 pm
we want to kind of throw certain packages at us that we think certain teams are going to do. that should give us the edge as far as starting off fast. >> you guys play a boat load of man coverage and last couple weeks teams have lined up and faced heavy personnel, two backs, two tight ends. they basically attacked the middle of the field trying to get match-ups on line backers. obviously san diego did it with their tight ends. atlanta did it with runningbacks. what corrections are you guys talking about making or do you need to make any? is >> we definitely need to make corrections. like i said, today we went over it, we're going to get the job done. we're going to put the right people in the right position. we're going to help the linebackers out more. but we still not going to change what we do as a defense. we're still not going to change the way we attack, how aggressive we play. that's just how we play. >> now that the falcons have had some success and the chargers had success last thursday, do
6:34 pm
do that with you guys? >> they'll probably do it. obviously i'm not over there, the oc or anything like that. but they can do it all they want. like i said, we're going to definitely be prepared for these next couple of games, just figuring out what teams are going to try to do to us, who they're going to try to isolate on and things like that. >> what adjustments have you guys made after the first drive when you've given up a bunch of 3rd downs and all of the sudden you come up in the 2nd half, like 0-6 so what adjustments have you guys made on the sidelines? >> first it started at halftime. we went in there, like hey guys, this is not us. vaughn, tj ward, all those guys kind of getting on everybody. there were a couple m.a.s that guys usually don't make. demarcus ware who's obviously not playing but he's in there getting on all of us. telling us that's not us. go out there and play that denver bronco defense. that's what happened in the 2nd half. >> how much of that is you guys
6:35 pm
are there a lot of adjustments made? or is it simply everybody picking up their game? >> it's everybody stepping up their game. everybody playing smart football. playing denver bronco defense football. that's what we did in the second half. guys were out there making tackles. guys were getting hands on the ball. von miller, william, sylvester, putting pressure on the quarterback. it made our jobs a lot easier on the back end. >> for you guys a rookie coming in, could you have picked a better defense to come to? >> no, words can't describe how smart those guys are. people, they go out there and watch the game, oh, they made a good play. it all starts from early in the week. i watched something, they'll see it totally different from when i've seen it. we go out there and i'm like oh, wow, how did you know this was going to happen? it happened a bunch of times especially with aqib back there. we'd be on the same side a lot of times. he tell me to do something and i do it. next thing he jumps in the way and gets a pick.

welcome back to xfinity monday live. hanging out with safety will parks. he had a highlight moment. take a look. >> tries to field it on the bounce. i think it was touched. and will parks picks it up and runs in to the end zone. and the cannot advance with will parks picking it up, they will get possession. >> now the nfl rule is you can't advance the punt but did you think you had a touchdown? >> definitely thought i had a touchdown. that's every kid's dream to come true to get their first touchdown especially on thursday night football. i went to the sideline and he was like hey, man, it's the rule but i thought you had a touchdown too. if i could have that back, i definitely would. i hope they'd call that a
6:40 pm
rules. >> that's why i returned it. >> that's just a dumb rule, 1. it should have been a touchdown. how about the other special teams plays? especially as a rookie you've been playing a lot on the defensive side but that's really the forte and you were doing this all day long. you had the pooch off the free kick. then the onside kick. your special teams lined up and played their butts off. take me through those plays. >> oh, man. all those guys teams, they don't care about nothing else but making jo-d happy and making plays. we go out there with a purpose. we go out there knowing we've got one job and that's to put our team in the best field position possible, take the ball away, force turnovers. anderson with a forced fumble. you've got cody latimer. taylor, dixon who is also like
6:41 pm
it's all around, all across the board you've got a bunch of guys who love what they do every day and they take pride in that. a lot of guys overlook special teams but like you can see, it can be a difference in the game. >> obviously the guy who's in charge of that unit is the interim head coach. can you even imagine what was going through his mind? getting pushed in to that position? >> he's ready for anything that's coming his way. whether it's a fake on us, always makes us aware of that. him stepping to the head coaching job, next man up. coach, players, whatever. he was definitely ready for it. we were happy for him. we played it hard for him. >> the one thing we heard all the players say leading up to the thursday night game was how much they love and respect him. you echo that. >> we definitely respect him. i've been here for the last six months. we developed a relationship as
6:42 pm
playing for him. you wouldn't want to play for a guy like that. i played for a guy like that any day of my life. >> we've got plenty more broncos talk coming up this thursday night here at the viewhouse centennial. cj anderson and brandon marshall are going to be our guests. football blitz presented by uc health. we'll get started at 5:30. join us for the blitz. plenty more to come tonight with will parks on xfinity monday live. right now we've got to get you back inside to the cbs4 studios and jim benemann. >> county started mailing out ballots for the presidential election today. we'll show you what it takes to
