good morning, everyone. i'm britt moreno. this is the news on wednesday, october 19th. >> good to have you here. i'm alan gionet. here's what's happening now on the cbs4 hours away from the final presidential debate in las vegas. coming up, why at least one topic of discussion will certainly cause controversy tonight. >> reporter: and for that third and final debate, one company bringing the battle to the big screen. we'll show you how to catch that stream for free at a theater near you. we hear from donald trump as he made a stop in colorado springs. our political specialist shaun

election is rigged. we've been telling you we're going to get a change in the weather. here it is in the high country we have snow again. >> can you believe it? october in colorado. let's get over to ashton and figure out what the day is bringing us. more snow on the way? >> maybe a few more snowflakes for the mountains. but we're really winding things down, not only in the high country but the front range as well, where we got a little bit of longmont a whopping .02 inches of rain. most of it is over in nebraska now. we'll talk more about today's weather and the weekend coming up. let's get a check on the traffic. here's joel. good morning, ashton. take a look at into the high country, i-70 to the eisenhower and johnson mountain tunnels. the situation improving. some of the chain restrictions have been lifted. some of the passenger traction restrictions remain in place. >> makes you think snow tires.

final debate in las vegas. this comes amid allegations of sexual assault for donald trump. and more controversy over e- mails including the back and forth between a state department staffer and fbi. and the president himself is now chiming in about claims of rigged elections. >> tomorrow night is going to be interesting. she's home sleeping and i'm working. >> reporter: donald trump taking a shot at hillary clinton ahead of wednesday's debate. >> it's the way it's going to be in the white house, too. she'd be sleeping, i'd be working. >> reporter: the topics will include immigration, economy, supreme court and fitness to be president. that last one will likely spark talk of controversies in both campaigns, including hillary clinton's e-mails and donald

again. here are a list of some of the places. they're showing it at a total of eight theaters across the state. 206participating theaters across the u.s. the company wants to encourage local communities to be engaged in the political process and public policy, and after viewer turnout with the first debate, opening theaters for people to watch was a no brainer they was the most watched ever with 84 million people tuning in to watch them interrupt each other, and heated debate. not only is this showing free this evening, but they're giving you a free pop with purchase of a popcorn. so that's another added benefit. if you want to participate tonight, it airs at 9:00 p.m. eastern at the university of nevada las vegas in las vegas. live in sheridan, jamie leary, cbs4 morning news.

we're hoping everybody gets along there this time. >> we sure are. weather and traffic now, getting along with ashton in the weather. good morning. good morning to you. i really hoped we had seen a little bit more rain on the front range overnight. we kept the expectations low. in the mountains we have some snow falling this morning. once you get above about idaho springs along i-70 a few snowflakes flying to county. up highway 119 up into estes park we have a little bit of snow left. what's left of the snow in the high country will be rapidly coming to an end as we get closer to sunrise and for the most part we're going to have a dry day almost state-wide. temperatures now in the 40s around town. 41 city park. 30s for the foothills. right at freezing in evergreen. our cbs4 weather watcher harold reporting 38 in parker. forecast for today, it stays

50s. a warmup starts tomorrow and continues through the weekend. we'll detail that coming up. now let's get a check on the roads in the high country with joel. they're a bit wet out there as you make your way along i- 70. this is near the loveland ski area. you can see the snow along the side, and i know they're pumping out a lot of snow into the ski area. be prepared for wet conditions and in some places a little snowy. denver metro malfunctioning 40th and -- 11th and speer has caused some slowing. southbound coming into town speeds into the 50s. ten minutes from 120th to i-70. donald trump was in colorado springs yesterday. we asked him about his claims of voter fraud. his chances of winning the election, and preparing for the

shaun boyd. >> reporter: let's say for hypothetical's sake, things don't go your way, will you run again in 2020? >> well, i think they are going to go my way. we see polls coming out, the swing states are all very, very close, and i think they are. but i'll make you a deal, if they don't, you'll be the first one i talk about it. >> reporter: donald trump not looking beyond november 8 and polls not looking good for him in swing states like colorado, where he rallied thousands of supporters, telling them the election is rigged against him. >> can of any national voter fraud? >> well, actually there are articles you have over 2 million people, dead people, or just about 2 million, that are registered to vote. some of them do vote, but they're dead. >> reporter: he says the media is also poisoning the minds of voters by playing up allegations of sexual assault by women that he suggests were paid by democrats. >> very interestingly it just came out there were protestors

democratic national committee or somebody, and this is a situation which is not so much different. these were made up allegations. >> reporter: the allegations all but certain to come up at the last presidential debate. >> have you been prepping for this debate? >> well, i have been. i have been. listen to the crowd. it's 21 days. hard to believe. after all of this time and all of this effort. and spending of money. i will have spent over $100 million by the time this all ends. >> at least equally prepared for the final debate as the last one. among the topics, newly released documents showing a state official trying to bribe the fbi to de classify documents. in colorado springs, shaun boyd, cbs4 news. >> that debate tonight at the university of nevada las vegas, 7:00 p.m. here on cbs4. that's where you can watch it. police are looking for two

it happened last night at asbury and york. du tweeted a gun was fired into the ground and the only description is police are looking for two black men about 5'8", with dark clothing. governor hickenlooper orders the army national guard to help in the fight against a wildfire burning in southern colorado. it's now burned more than 25 square miles near the town of westcliffe. evacuation order is in for owners of about 175 homes. and people who live in 70 other homes are being warned to be ready to leave if that fire creeps closer. the fire has already destroyed five homes. pueblo county sheriffs officials say the fire started when high winds blew a metal outbuilding into a fire line. zero containment so far. a father is alive thanks to

f0 a retired police officer from colorado springs says a high powered light treatment is helping her get she believes a neuro laser has helped reverse brain damage caused by severe concussions. here's our health specialist kathy walsh. >> how are we doing? >> good. >> reporter: once a week, jennifer focuses on healing her brain. >> we are stimulating the cells. >> reporter: the doctor runs a high power laser over jennifer's forehead. >> we're putting infrared light into the brain.

mother, the light has been a life saver. >> it's miraculous. >> reporter: jennifer lost a baby in 2006, after 10 years as a colorado springs cop, she retired because of a hip injury. she was depressed, suicidal. >> i was literally in bed in the fetal position all day long. >> reporter: she says a scan showed brain injuries she believes were caused by concussions. in march she started light therapy. >> it's giving me my life back. >> reporter: her husband agre unbelievable. >> these patients are profoundly better. >> reporter: psychiatrist dr. henderson says the laser turns on the brain's own healing processes. >> i see this as the future in brain injury and the future of other of the treatment of other diseases like dementia and parkinson's. >> reporter: the doctors are raising money for more research and to help other first

chance to see the light. >> that was kathy walsh reporting on that unbelievable story. the laser is fda approved, but the treatment is experimental. the doctors do take patients now, but it is $100 for treatment for first responders and veterans. $200for everybody else. let's turn to weather and traffic now. if you're going to different parts of colorado, you could get snow. >> indeed. along the i-70 corridor going through the colorado high country we have some snow coming down. it will be winding down here by mid-morning there will be little, if any, snow left up there. the i-76 corridor from fort morgan to sterling, light rain that way. watching that snow from around idaho springs to winter park and up to estes park. for now we're done with our very light rain, spotty light rain we had overnight in the denver area. we didn't expect much and didn't get much. watching a little bit of snow

well. as this upper level storm system moves away from us today, high pressure, which is centered over las vegas will make its way into colorado. that's going to promise a dry and warmer end to the week and weekend ahead. but for now it's chilly outside. temperatures are in the 30s for most of us around denver. we have 20s in the mountains. 30s and 40s on the eastern plains. high temperatures today, 50s for highs here along corridor. 40s in the mountains. again, we start a warmup tomorrow afternoon. tomorrow morning we'll be cold. in fact we do anticipate an official freeze tomorrow morning. 31. then 61 tomorrow afternoon. 73 on friday. and then mid- to upper 70s coming in for the upcoming weekend. that's a look at your weather. let's get a check on the traffic, including the latest on the winter driving conditions in the mountains. they're really wet up to the eisenhower and johnson tunnels. about an hour ago big fat

those conditions can change so rapidly in colorado, it's best to be prepared as some passenger traction restrictions are in place. some chain restrictions have been lifted. loveland ski area, you'll be fighting splash back. in town a different drive, pockets of volume, but nothing that will slow you down too bad. slowing c-470, 285 where they continue to do the road there. southbound coming into town, just nine minutes from 120th to i-70. thanks, joel. police want to find a man who exposed himself and made lewd comments to young girls in thornton. the first case was at 134th and high street. the girl said a man motioned for her to get into his car and he wasn't wearing clothing. another report of a man trying to lure a girl near high and franklin streets. both times the man was in a white four door sedan. firefighter in arizona got

he was dispatched to an emergency at the home of his parents. there was nothing routine about this cardiac call. >> when you see your dad lying on the ground and his face is blue and he's not breathing. >> on the radio all he remembers hearing is code, which means somebody has no heartbeat. darryl was able to shock his dad, tommy back to where i was watching golf on tv, and noticed that i was gasping. >> now the family is doing well and he is now fitted with a

donald trump and congressman coffman would punish women. and coffman tried to redefine rape to mean only forcible rape. in coffman's bill, victims who were drugged, even minors, victims of statutory rape, would not be considered rape victims. coffman and trump are too dangerous for colorado. this is the colorado none of us want to lose. i'm gail schwartz, and i'm running for congress to stop the sale of our public lands. coloradans should have the freedom to use this land for ranching, hunting and fishing, not watch it sold off to the highest bidder. scott tipton wants to cut off our access to these lands for generations to come,

is offering counseling for students who are offended by halloween costumes. in a blog post, the school acknowledged costumes on a college campus can sometimes cross the line. they reminded students there's a 24-hour hot line if they need someone to talk to. on social media people are responding with humor and sarcasm. but the university is not joking. weather now and traffic to get you going. here's ashton. >> it's time for the travel morning. as we look around your region, the snow that's left in the mountains, little bit of rain in the eastern plains will come to an end by mid-morning. maybe a few issues. in terms of air travel, no problems. wyoming will see rain and snow today. a lot of rain in nebraska as well. most of the country is going to enjoy a very nice day. east coast, new york city, 78 degrees today. 81 in orlando with partly cloudy skies. 87 degrees in new orleans. all the major airports from

hubs. let's get a check on our local traffic. if you have to be traveling into the high country we have the toughest drive there. passenger traction restrictions in place up over vail pass there. also we have chain restrictions in place u.s. 6 over loveland pass. the drive to dia, eastbound along i-70, inbound along pena boulevard seeing great speeds. northbound along parker road eastbound along i-70 speeds into the 60s. and it's kind of cool. 38 in denver. >> hard to get out of bed on a morning like this. coming up, the final president debate tonight in las vegas. we'll preview what could be another wicked showdown. >> reporter: president obama hosted his final and biggest state dinner at the white house last night. i'm hena daniels, i'll have more coming up. call it a business

loveland and arapahoe basin. mother nature helping out, 1 to 4 inches of snow over the higher peaks. along the i-76 corridor in northeast colorado we still have light rain falling. be aware of that around sterling and toward fort morgan. in denver we weren't anticipating much rain and unfortunately we didn't see any measurable precipitation. but longmont got .02 inches of rain. we'll talk about the forecast the rest of the weekend. now let's check along i-70 to the eisenhower and johnson mountain tunnels. passenger traction restrictions in place over vail pass. we have some chain and passenger traction restrictions in place u.s. 6 over loveland pass. road/weather index here, looks like some portions of 285 saw moisture. joel, thanks. this morning authorities are hoping a man with a sordid history shows up with a court
