suspect. >> that is right, jim. formal charges were filed today but more charges were stacked on to the suspect after a third victim was discovered by police they say from a incident that happened over a year ago. >> reporter: two teenagers got shot on in backyard after hopping a fence. they believe the teens were trying to get at marijuana plants illegally grown in one teen died, the other is seriously hurt. >> there were 6 shots initially and a break and two more. >> reporter: the home owner has been formally charged with multiple counts of 1st degree and attempted murder. but those charges now include a third victim that investigators stumbled upon, another teen shot under similar circumstances at this home. police say that incident happened about a year ago. >> it doesn't appear that the victim at that time filed any

that teenager was treated at the hospital, but gave a different story about how he suffered that gunshot wound at the time. >> reporter: and hammock is also charged with actuality straighting and cultivating and manufacturing marijuana. the truck driver who got trapped beneath his semi morning has died. for some reason, the truck rolled forward and he was dragged hundreds of feet. we know the man was 35 and from thornton, but his name has not been released. due to an awkward scheduling clerk, they will come face-to-face tonight. this time to roast each other at an annual political dinner in new york. >> it might be hard to imagine these two joking around.

parts outside of a walgreens. they took off without the machine and without any money. new tonight, a new twist to the irs scam. phone calls this time are going after college students making threats they owe the irs money. these calls can be intimidating, especially for students. >> reporter: that's right. and that's exactly why they're going after they say getting fake calls from the irs isn't that uncommon, but now a nationwide phone scam is tricking college students all across the country into providing credit card information and even handing over gift cards. >> i hangup or i delete the voice mail. >> reporter: jessica, a senior at metro state university is no stranger to fake phone calls. >> they're calls saying i owe money to the irs.

meridith has learned to ignore calls from strangers. >> i don't pick up if it's a number i don't recognize. >> reporter: college students and their parents are finding themselves at the center of a phone scam. thieves posing as irs agents are fooling students into paying thousands of dollars for a federal student tax that doesn't exist. >> anyone's who's ever asked for a social security number, identification, birth date, mother's maiden na anybody. >> reporter: they're even threatening to arrest students who don't shell out. >> i ink people who are out on their own for the first time, they're 18 and they just don't know any better. i think that would be a really important aspect to cover in freshman classes. >> reporter: cindy hail, financial aid director says it's important for students and parents to know the irs will never ask for payments or

phone. authorities say it's hard to track down scammers like these because they typically demand money through untraceable operations. metro state says school payments should always be made online or in person. reporting live in denver,. now the latest on the massive rock slide blocking highway 133. the slide wednesday morning sent more than 100 tons of rocks on really damaged the concrete barrier. today, cdot told us the highway won't be reopened until saturday at the earliest. some of the evacuees of the huge wildfire south of pueblo are going home finally. it has burned nearly 17,000- acres since monday. fire crews say they're making good progress. the fire was sparked by a

and coffman tried to redefine rape to mean only forcible rape. in coffman's bill, victims who were drugged, even minors, victims of statutory rape, would not be considered rape victims. coffman and trump are too dangerous for colorado.

you send it in. turns out you just broke the law. rick sallinger live to explain why this is illegal in colorado. seems pretty harmless. >> reporter: well, it is true. take a picture of your completed ballot and you could end up behind bars. the denver da sent out a warning regarding that today and the aclu said it sounded to them like a threat. it's okay ak a ballot in hand, but don't you dare show who you voted for. colorado's secretary of state wayne williams says it's a misdemeanor that carries up to a thousand dollar fine and up to a year in jail. >> the reason for that is the possibility of selling a vote or trading that vote for something. >> reporter: the prohibition is not just in colorado, but in various states and in countries around the world.

release reminding voters that posting selfies with filled-in ballots is prohinted. the american civil liberties union calls it a crazy law. >> i thought issues that release at this point in time is like a tacit threat to prosecute people for exercising their right to take photographs of themselves with their ballots. >> reporter: the law against showing your vote may have teeth, but not much of a bite. > prosecuted for this? >> i can't speak for has anyone ever. i'm not aware of any within the last few years. >> reporter: but selling one's vote is usually a matter taken much more seriously than just with a wink and a nod. in this day and age of selfie sticks and phone cameras, that law may seem like a bit out of
