>> reporter: people turned in 1,000 pounds of prescription drugs across denver, 515 pounds here at this station, alone, which is over 100 pounds more than what was turned in that the take-back event here last year. we have seen a steady stream of people coming by here throughout the day, including a line that stretched to that doorway. dumping them by the bottle, and the bag, denver residents lined up at dpd district 3 drop off old and expired meds. >> i think one of them i had 3-4 years, just found it in a drawer and thought, okay, these need to go. >> thank you, guys, for doing this. >> you are welcome. >> much better than flushing them down the toilet or the trash and landfill. you accumulate whether you like to or not. >> reporter: ben brought drugs unused for years in his cabinet. >> variety, aspirin up, pain pills, narcotic pain pills.

an upcoming hunting trip near red hill in park county, walking near a stream, a bear knocked him to the ground and attacked. he broke free with only minor injuries to hands, legs, and stomach, wildfire officers took dna samples from his clothing to try to track the bear. they say the bear likely attacked because it was startled. firefighters stopped a burning home from turning into a brush fire in colorado springs. purposely-- kids purposely lighting fires in an abandoned home. they were caught by police. the flames spread to trees and bushes but quick work stopped it from spreading. the home was destroyed but was slated to be torn down. no word on charges against the kids. a juvenile is now charged with starting the massive wildfire burning near the colorado/wyoming border, the beaver creek rr burn 38,000

june. it is 75% contained. the junkins fire southwest of pueblo, 9 homes have been destroyed as well as another 19 structures. the fire burned 18,000 acres and is now 40% contained. tonight, more evacuees are allowed back into homes in areas deemed safe. crews are still digging firelines to prevent flames from spreading. meteorologist dave aguilera is in colorado's weather center. dave, another hot day has us worried aboute >> certainly does, yeah, and extended outlook there is a chance of rain coming our way, but not much. with the hot temperatures, red flag warnings were in effect all day long. this goes until 6:00, less than a hofl our on this. north of fort collins, wellington, back to the foothills of larimer, boulder, boulder had a fire ban all day and weekend because it has been so dry there. mountain valleys and northsern

dropsover the northern part-- drops over the northern part of the ridge it loses moisture. northeastern colorado may see temperatures drop a bit, maybe 5-10 degreesa of where we were today, however, we lose all the water with that. it will be another sunny day but a cooler day on the way tomorrow. another system out here may give us a chance of rain by the time we get to tuesday, but that is a few days away by the time it gets here, that may lose a lot of moisture as well. so, if we didn't have this drought and fire situation, it would be some fantastic we made it to 82dia today, 80 downtown, the record was 84 degrees. 2 degrees off of the record high and we started out pretty mild, close to 40 degrees this morning. out now 77 in the city, 78 at the airport with northwest wind at 13. humidity, 10%, awfully dry out there right now. debbie bidwell, a weather watcher in fort collins has 71 now and john murphy in fire stone at 79 degrees.

coming in overnight and tomorrow, not much moisture showing up at all. couple clouds in the foothills and mountains, no rain to be had across the state tomorrow. another high and dry day. temperatures tonight will be in the 30s and 40s, over most locations here. then highs tomorrow, there is the cool down. look at that. 70s and maybe even upper 60s in boulder, greeley, fort collins as the cooler air settles in. 60s and 70s in the mountains and west as well. my forecast for you tonight. mostly clear skies, about the overnight low, 43dia. tomorrow, it will be mostly sunny, maybe 1-2 low passing clouds in the afternoon and then a little cooler, only 75 in the city, 73 out of the airport. as we look ahead, the soothing 70s still go on. even though we cool down, low to mid 70s all the way through thursday. isolated showers possible on tuesday and of course monday night is the big bronco game. probably 60s and 50s but no rain to be had, you should stay dry
