new developments as two separate shootings in denver turn deadly. the first happened outside a liquor store 20th and park avenue saturday night. that victim has died at the hospital. thank you for joining us. i am kathy walsh. >> i am tom mustin. melissa, i understand you talked to people who knew the victim? >> reporter: and, tom, a family mb as jose haukez. family members left this memorial this afternoon. there is a broken door boarded up and a bullet hole in another door here at the liquor store. an employee was here during the shooting, says the victim ran into the store after he was shot. >> and i heard pop, pop, pop, pop. >> reporter: witnesses heard the gunfire that shattered glass saturday. shots rang out in the parking lot of this park avenue

argument between members of two small groups of people. bullets struck ap adult male -- an adult male who then ran into the liquor store. >> i said i wanted to get a beer, and they said i couldn't. >> reporter: paramedics rushed the gunshot victim to the hospital where he later died. the victim, in his 30s, went by the nickname joker. the deadly gunfire left workers at a liquor store nearby worried for their safety even considering finding a different job. >> i live and work within a mile radius. so i know my neighbors. i walk down the street and wave left and right to people. i love that sense of community for living and working in the same -- you know, we are a block away from work. >> yeah. it's kind of horrifying. it makes you want to move out of the city for sure. the crime is crazy here. >> reporter: a dpd spokesperson couldn't say whether the shooting was gang related or what motivated the violence.

will show us that violence isn't the answer. >> reporter: and there have been no arrests and police right now are not able to provide a suspect description. they are asking that anyone with any information on this shooting come forward. live in denver, melissa garcia, cbs4 news. >> thank you. tonight man is dead after another shooting overnight. this time in denver's green valley ranch neighborhood. this happened on north court. that's where cbs4's dillon thomas is live. >> reporter: police remain on scene here at the 4700 block of ireland lane where they say shots were fired. now, here's what we know. police tell us they received a 911 call around five reporting several shots fired. when police arrived they found an adult male shot more than once who was later pronounced dead. police could not tell us what led up to the shooting or the

could not further elaborate on the description or lead, but they say there is no threat to those nearby. >> we don't believe there is an imminent risk to folks in that area. at this point we need to do due diligence, make sure that we have all of the facts straight before we really discuss publicly what might have occurred there. >> reporter: police continue to remain on scene as they continue to execute a search warrant. anyone with details is asked to call dillon thomas, cbs4 news. >> thank you. developing tonight one man is dead, another in custody after police say the pair killed a woman in colorado springs. brothers demetress and daniel moore suspected the shooting at woman last night. she died at the hospital. police captured one of the brothers hours later. the other brother shot at the police.

him. 13 people were killed and at least 31 injured in this crash. chris martinez has the latest. >> reporter: a crane was needed to separate a tour bus and tractor-trailer on interstate 10 in north palm springs, california. the bus plowed into the back of the truck very early sunday morning. >> in almost 35 years i have never been to a crash where there has been 13 confirmed fatal accidents. so it's tough. >> reporter: a survivor told police most of the passengers wesl the crash. first responders used ladders to reach the victims because the door was inaccessible. >> the trailer itself entered about 15 feet into the bus. so you can see that it was a substantial impact. the bus was traveling significantly faster than the tractor-trailer that it struck. >> reporter: the bus driver was killed. the truck driver was injured but is expected to be okay.

10 back to los angeles from a casino near palm springs. police say the 1996 bus was inspected earlier this year. >> the bus had been inspected by highway patrol inspectors in 2014, 2015, and as late as april 2016 and no mechanical deficiencies were noted. >> reporter: federal records show the bus company involved owned one bus and had one driver. chris martinez, cbs news north palm springs, california. >> and records that company had a satisfactory rating. well, a young retired marine badly hurt in afghanistan is asking for your help. ahead what he is doing to give back to the people who saved his life. and a live look outside right now. the sun starts to set. a beautiful 69 degrees in the front range. we need some moisture.

pictures and keepsakes from his service with the u.s. marine corps, including several medals. >> this is the day that i got my purple heart. >> reporter: sunday is five years to the day when reed was hit by enemy fire while serving in afghanistan. >> it's a very thick round. the size of your pinky. it went through my arm shattering every bone in its path and popped out. >> reporter: among the many people to come to the now retired sergeant's aid, members of the semper wounded marines and their families as they recover. reed says the group was especially helpful to his wife who was pregnant with little lillian when he was shot. >> i can never pay them back any amount of money for what they have done for me. >> reporter: but that won't stop this marine from trying. next month reed is taking part in the eisman cometh 30-mile bike race in michigan and he is doing so with his brotherhood in mind. >> for me you got to pay it forward.

humidity levels were slightly up. that was a little better situation today. 74 degrees for the high. 35 was the morning low. a normal high is 62 degrees already. here's a look at our high temperatures today. really the whole state cooled down today. mostly 70s and 80s wherever you look, but as we look at the 24- hour temperature change a lot of areas over eastern colorado anywhere from 5 to 15 degrees cooler at this point than we were yesterday. so the heat did manage to just disappear is reporting 62 degrees, our weather watcher up there. here is the satellite and radar. you see the high clouds streaming. a mountain wave cloud south of fort collins there. way down there near telluride there is a little bit of light sprinkles action going in some of the san juan mountains. not a lot. here is the big picture. high pressure has weakened somewhat, but it's large and in charge over colorado. we had slightly cooler air dipping in on the eastern side

now, into tomorrow that high will start to move back east. we will warm up just a little bit and dry out somewhat. but take a look. there is a big batch of moisture coming through las vegas into utah here, and a big low pressure area off the coast of california, and that's going to swing in some moisture monday night into tuesday in the mountains in the west, in the high country we may have some snow up above 10,000 feet, but once it gets on the other side of the continental divide we see some clouds and maybe a sprinkle of rain, and that's gonna be about it. not enough to really get rid of the drou it all the way through tomorrow. we stay high and dry all the way through the afternoon with just a few afternoon clouds building there. the forecast now for you tonight. we are looking at a low of about, oh, 44 degrees in the city with high clouds, a light breeze blowing from time to time. tomorrow mostly sunny. the soothing 70s return tomorrow in the mid-to-upper 70s around here. about 76 officially. of course, tomorrow is the monday night football game. i think temperatures will be in
