-- to the hiker. all the details coming up in the -- hiker. all the details coming up. we have some construction projects going on and not just i-a and arapahoe road. we'll break those down coming up in a bit. all right thank you joel. denver police are looking for the suspect who shot and killed a man over the weekend in green valley ranch. cbs4's shawn chitnis is live with more on why neighbors were surprised to see police at their door early sunday morning. hi sha around this time yesterday that officers were knocking on doors trying to get information from neighbors as we can see right now it is very you quiet. they have secured -- very quiet. they have secured the home where this happened and there's security still outside of the house 24 hours later but again this is why it was so surprising for neighbors because this is usually they say a quiet area. and so they were surprised to see this all happening here in the 4700 block of ireland court. they say that officers don't

crimes and they can't remember the last time they saw someone here but dpd got calls of shots fired around 6:00 a.m. yesterday. when officers got to the scene they found a man suffering from multiple gunshot wounds and he later died from the injuries. police aren't sure though what led up to this shooting. dpd hasn't released description of a suspect or any suspects in this case. police say they are still collecting evidence and of course getting information from witnesses and one question that they're still trying to answer, why th house because investigators don't think he lives there. and while dpd hasn't located who is responsible, police don't think that's a risk to anyone else in the community at this point but of course they need more details from anyone who may have seen or heard something or has information that could help them in their investigation. and you're asked to contact crime stoppers if you do. live in green valley ranch, shawn chitnis, cbs4 morning news. thank you. this morning people in colorado

cbs4's jamie leary live for us this morning. >> reporter: absolutely alan. in fact millions of americans have already chosen to mail their ballots in. some have chosen to drop them off here at the 24 hour ballot dropoff box. but starting this morning, you can actually walk into your polling place and vote in person. early voting centers will open in all 64 counties across the state. and will stay open until election day. for many the mail-in norm but others like the security of vote -- like that security of voting in person. according to the united states' election project, nearly 9,000 early votes have already been cast in colorado. still the majority of the people that we spoke with will take that mail-in ballot and drop it off in person or this morning, physically vote at their polling place. >> i like the idea of having the ballot beforehand. and being able to read through everything and make my decision before going into the actual

that's going on there. but garrison street under the i- 70 bridge closed through wednesday and crews are tearing down a part of the bridge over the street. the detour is going to use the fraudulentage road as well as car street. small plane crashed after takeoff from the european island nation of malta this morning. all five people on board dead. video filmed by a passenger shows the fire along the runway there following that crash. witnesses say that twin prop after liftoff bursting into flames. malta is an island country if the middle of the mediterranean south of italy. a famed 19 60s anti-war activist and california legislator has died. tom hayden was 76 years old. he made headlines with his radical act vim during the -- activism during the '60s and

during the vietnam war. he later won the election to state senate in california where he served for nearly 20 years. his wife says he died in santa monica, california yesterday from a long illness. what led to the deadly week bus crash in california? at least 13 died when that bus rear ended a tractor-trailer along i-state 10 in palm springs. it happened at 5:00 in the morning the bus was returning from the red earth casi thermal. there's nothing yet end cuting problems by the driver but the bus was going to fast when it hit that truck the bus ended up about 15 feet into the tractor- trailer. with 15 days left until the election, hillary clinton and donald trump are really stepping up their efforts in key states. after making four stops in north carolina yesterday clinton campaigns with massachusetts' senator i
