right now let's get a check on the traffic with joel. and it's been a great drive across the denver motier this morning ashton. take a look this is from the cbs4 mouse trap cam to the west, that traffic moving in the eastbound direction making its way to i-5. and -- 25. and look at this. southbound into town just a nine minute drive. alan? thank you joel. denver police looking for a person responsible for a shooting over the weekend that killed a man in green valley ranch. cbs4's shawn chitnis live this morning on why neighbors were kind of at their door early yesterday. shawn? >> reporter: well, alan, they tell us the scene was pretty similar to what we saw right now which is quiet in the distance we can see the home is closed off and there is a security patrolling and of course securing the scene at this hour, and so neighbors were surprised to see that this area was just usually quiet and doesn't often have police in the area investigating crimes. this is the 4700 block of ireland court.

fired around 6:00 a.m. yesterday and when officers arrived at the scene, they found a man suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. he later died from those injuries but police aren't sure what led up to the shooting. dpd hasn't released a description of the suspect or possible suspects in this case. while police say they are still collecting evidence and information from witnesses, one question they're trying to figure out is why the victim was inside that house and investigators don't lived there. police don't think there's any risk to the community at this point. but they are again trying to get some more information and if you have any detail that could help them in their investigation, you're asked to call crime stoppers. live in green valley ranch, shawn chitnis, cbs4 morning news. thank you. aurora police say a man is dead after a shooting yesterday afternoon near 30th and i-225. we are learning that this could be a case of self-defense.

investigate an assault around 3:30 in the afternoon on ubalda street off the parkway. police say when they got to the scene, they found the man with a gunshot wound. neighbors say the circumstances leading up to that shooting are very bizarre. >> he came inside our house and he stepped over where the doorstep is. me and my brother and my mom we went up to him and we asked him what are you doing here and he's like i think i'm in the wrong place but he wasn't being was or what was happening. >> the man then wandered across the street and started reaching for his waistband. that's when he was shot in the front yard of a home, he was promoundsed dead at the hospital. police say there's no suspect wanted at this time. and there is no danger to the community. another weekend shooting left a person dead in denver. he leaves two children. the shooting happened at a

saturday night. the store worker says the victim ran inside when he was shot. police think it started with an argument. >> kind of horrifying. it makes you want the move out of the city for sure. it's -- the crime is crazy here. >> well, neighbors tell us the victim was in his 30s and lived nearby, nobody has been arrested in that one. this morning, people across colorado can start voting early. cbs4's jamie leary is live from denver at election headquarters where there's probably going to be a lot of people later >> reporter: good morning britt. yeah maybe you have already chosen to drop the ballot off at the drop box. actually just saw a woman do it very early to n morning or -- this morning but for many americans, election day has already arrived even though we're a couple weeks away the november 8th because this morning, you can actually walk right into your polling place and vote early in person. early voting centers will open in all 64 counties in the state

alternative has become the new norm. but others like the security of voting in person. according to united states' elections project, nearly 9,000 early votes have already been cast in colorado. still the majority of the people we spoke with will take that mail-in ballot and drop it off in person or physically vote at the polling place this morning. political analysts believe that most people are actually going to vote early whether it be by mail or in person. >> we hear if a lot of folks who say they like th but many of them also say that they really enjoy the idea of being able to go to the polling place and you know talk to folks in line and get to actually cast that vote in person. >> reporter: so if you do choose to mail in your ballot, don't forget to sign that return envelope before you mail it in and don't forget about the extra postage too. it's 68 cents. but you can also slap two forever stamps on your ballot to mail it in and call it good from there. for more information on how to

online at cbsdenver.com. live in denver, jamie leary, cbs4 morning news. thanks. now to weather and traffic every ten minutes on the 4s. and here's ashton. >> good morning to you. it was mild over the weekend and it's still mild this morning. not only here in the motier, but pretty much statewide, temperatures are above normal. and that includes out on the western slope. david perry reporting 43 degrees out that way. it's 50 in wheat ridge and 48 in aurora. and 49 degrees right now in golden. keep in mind we're year. meanwhile a few clouds along the front range today. we'll call it plowed overall for this monday. there's a big plymouth moisture out to the west of you -- plume of moisture out to the west of us. into colorado don't and tomorrow and promises to bring rain and snow to the mountains but the chance for any moisture here in denver is pretty slim. today plowed and dry. high temperatures right around 77. and then this evening will be in the 60s for the game. by 9:00 we'll be down to around

ahead. right now a check on the traffic with joel. and we have a watch from the cbs4 tech center cam. take a look nice light volumes out there. a little bit but this is not doing to slow you down coming northbound into town. look at the green, at or near posted speed limits. some of the projects picked up but i want to mention a couple of start right here with garrison underneath i-70. that closure is in place until wednesday while they continue to do some bridge demolition work there. and then we've had this 25. that closure was in place until 5:30 this morning. it has been picked up and moved out of the way. but the closure is going to go in place again tonight through tomorrow morning as crews do some bridge work there as well. so again the closure from 10:00 tonight until 5:30 tomorrow morning also northbound i-25 is going to be closed at the on and off ramps at arapahoe road. britt? joel thank you. which 15 days left until

and donald trump are really stepping up their efforts in key states. a cbs news poll out on sunday shows clinton leading trump by three points the florida -- points in florida. trump is ahead by three pointed in the normally red state of texas. roxana saberi has the latest on the campaign. >> reporter: hillary clinton crisscrossed north carolina sunday appearing alongside mothers of the movement in raleigh and blasting drum at a rally in -- donald trump at a rally in charlotte. >> he refused to say would respect the results of our election. some people are sore losers and you know -- with just -- we just got to keep going. >> reporter: stumping for clinton in las vegas, president obama criticized republicans for backing the gop nominee. >> when you finally get him on tape, bragging about actions that qualify as sexual assault, and his poll numbers go down, suddenly that's a deal breaker. what took you so long? >> reporter: polls show a

slipping away from trump including the usually red state of texas. the latest cbs battleground tracker shows trump leading clinton by only three points in the state. >> we are behind. >> reporter: despite the dire numbers, trump eats campaign manager conway says he still has a chance. >> our advantage is that donald trump is just going to continue to take the case directly to the people. >> it's rigged. it's broken. it's corrupt. >> reporter: at an outdoor rally in florida yesterday, trump continued ue u.s. voting system as well as polls showing clinton leading him with women. >> i really think those polls are very inaccurate. when it comes to women. i think we're doing better with women than with men. frankly. >> reporter: early voting is set to begin in most florida counties today. roxana saberi for cbs news. and investigators don't understand yet why a bus plowed into the back of a truck in palm springs, california and why it was going so fast at the

truck had slowed down because of work being done but for some reason the bus driver did not. reid binion has the latest. >> almost 5 years never been to a crash where there's been 13 confirmed fatal accidents. >> reporter: authorities in california briefing the press in the hours following one of the state's dead list crashes in recent years. >> the 1996 mci passenger bus transporting 44 passengers struck the rear of a frightliner truck with a trailer in the number three lane. >> reporter: the tour bus was tu casino early sunday morning. survivors said most of the passengers were sleeping at the time of the crash. >> the majority of the people who were killed were in the front section of the bus. >> reporter: the bus driver also killed. the two vehicles reportedly so mangled that rescuers used a crane to search for victims. in addition to those killed dozens more passengers were injured and taken to area hospitals. the cause of the crash was not immediately known. the tractor-trailer and other vehicles had slowed down due to maintenance on the roadway according to police. >> there didn't appear to be

well, this retired marine in longmont needs your help. on his next mission. john reid was badly hurt while he served in afghanistan. but kelly birthman tells us -- kelly werthmann tells us that's nos stopping him from supporting other wounded marines. >> very nice to have and stare at and look at and think of them every day. >> reporter: john reid's basement is unlike any other so- called man cave. >> this was us in thailand. >> reporter: filled with pictures and keees us with the -- from his service with the u.s. marine corps. >> this is the day that i got my purple heart. >> reporter: sunday marks five years to the day when reid was hit by enemy fire while serving in afghanistan. >> it's a very thick round. it's about the size of your pinky. it went through my entire arm pretty much shattering every bone in its path and then it popped out where you can see where the exit wound is. >> reporter: among the many people to come to the now retired sergeant's aid, members of the semper fi fund who help

reid says the group was especially helpful to his wife who was pregnant with little baby when he was shot. >> i can never pay them back. any amount of money for what they've done for me. >> reporter: but that won't stop this marine from trying. next month, reid is taking part in the iceman comeht 30-mile bike race in michigan with his brotherhood in mind. >> for me you have to pay it forward. >> reporter: showing support through sport, reid hopes the raise $5,000 for fund. it's a mission he says that has given him back his warrior spirit and one that keeps hill always faithful to those he thinks about every day. >> they may be too afraid to ask for help but i know the funds is going to help them. thaws do. they did with it with me. >> reporter: kelly werthmann, cbs4 news. weather and traffic every ten minutes on the 4s. and it is monday morning ashton. >> it is a mild monday morning. britt. we have the temperature of 43

sun will be up at 7:20 this morning. sun goes down about 6:15. so we'll be dark by the time kickoff comes around this evening. 67 degrees at this time and of course temperatures will be in the 70sing thing ahead of the -- tailgating ahead of the game. by the end of the fourth quarter upper 50s coming up tonight. right now mountain temperatures are in the 20s can and 30s. meanwhile we have 45 degrees in boulder and 36 in greeley it's going to be a warm day statewide. maybe not quite as warm as it was at times over the weekend but still grunges will be close to 80 this afternoon and close to 80 for the friends in the southeast part of the state. la junta lamar around 80 degrees. we'll call it plowed today and big plume of moisture to the west of us. las vegas up towards salt lake city. there's rain right now. that makes its way into the west half of colorado tonight into torment. for denver -- tomorrow.

yellow and just a bit. but a great straight shot southbound along i-225 this morning. alan as you come out into the tech center. joel thanks a lot. two teams no winner last night in the ending to sunday night eagles game. left a lot of football fans frustrated. seattle and arizona went to overtime after a 3-3 tie in regulation. after a field goal by each team the cardinals had a chance to win it with another kick but boing. right off the uprights. right there. that was a 24-yard attempt believe it and seattle's coach very happy about this. then we go to 13 seconds left in overtime. the seahawks' kicker lines up for a 28-yard field goal and -- uh-oh. >> john ryan to hold. and he misses it. that's impossible. >> oh my gosh. >> that is impossible. >> not a good night for kicks. >> no. bad night for the kickers in phoenix. arizona had one last shot at a hail mary but couldn't do it.

rare 6-6 tie. okay, we want a different game day for us here at home. the broncos gearing up to take on osweiler and the texans tonight at sports authority field. >> here now to break it all down for us the morning. good morning. so much to tuck about including this osweiler fella. >> reporter: good morning you guys what we all been waiting for right? brock osweiler returns to denver with the team he said would give him the best opportunity to succeed when houston texans. at 4-2, osweiler has found it difficult toen the guy at times. paining's forme backup is second in the league with eight interceptions. while the broncos played nice recently, you can be sure the defense plans to make osweiler's homecoming less than pleasant. the defense faced osweiler in practice during manning's time as denver's starter and as a

him. he hoeing the ball -- holds the ball too long. now the broncos' defense leads the league in sacks and has to pressure him and make him uncomfortable in the pocket tonight. as the cornerback chris harries jr. said that's when the picks come. and pressure has affected brock osweiler this season. three of his eight interceptions have come against the blitz. and you know, last year with the broncos, he didn't thousand any interception -- throw any interceptions against the blitz. here's some other things to watch out for tonight. the broncos' a fru trevor siemian from a houston defense that going into this week's games is second in the league against the pass. broncos have to lock texans' linebacker and clown one thing there is -- clowney. one thing there is he was in the concussion protocol last week. he could be lined up against clowney plenty tonight. also running back lamar miller had 1349 yards rushing and -- 149 yards and a touchdown last
