>> i'm britt moreno. good morning, everyone. let's check the forecast this morning. >> we have no snow in denver. look at telluride and grand junction, just getting soaked there in the western part of the state. we are starting to see the moisture move into mountains, similar situation just to the west of vail. we do anticipate that snow getting farther east as we get through the morning. the snow level will stay high. the mountain towns won't see snow but the passes could get 1 to 4 inches today. we're going to have a small chance of showers through the morning, most of us not seeing

accident that blocked a portion of westbound mississippi from broadway. just getting word that's cleared out of the way. so there are no restrictions right now mississippi as you get to santa fe. 25 and arapahoe, northbound i- 25 has reopened there. and we opened as well under i-25 this morning. across the metro, we have a lot of green out there. nasty accident there. that was breaking news overnight and that man died after crashing into a pole near santa fe and mississippi. this is a look at the scene that just happened a couple of hours ago. we believe the roads are back

denver police are looking for a shooting suspect from last night. police say they are looking for a man in his 20s in a dark hoodie and light colored pants. four people died during a theme park ride accident in australia. officials say a malfunction caused two of the victims to be ejected and the two others quote, caught inside the ride. it was a river rapids ride and the park is now closed for that investigation. developing now, a broncos fan fell at least five stories at mile high stadium last night. we know the victim was taken to the hospital. we'll update you once we know more. a denver family wants to know if police are doing enough

good morning. the news in health this morning, new data reveals the way most women are managing the pain of childbirth. a new study finds 60% of women use nitrous oxide, or laughing gas. researchers say new moms use it to minimize pain of on top of asking for an epidural. laughing gas has been used by women in labor since 1881. harvard doctors hope to find out whether the risk of dementia goes up during the aftermath of a natural disaster. relocation after a major disaster can speed up cognitive decline among vulnerable people. a new study states women could be catching up with men

consumption. the gap between men and women nearly disappeared in problematic usage and associated harms over time. historically men have been far more likely than women to drink alcohol and drink it in quantities that damage their health. weather right now, the morning after the broncos and everything looks good. >> everything is all good. you know, for the west half of the state, we are getting that we have a weather maker coming in, spreading rain across the western slope as expected. san juan is having a little thunder this morning. this is a loop over the last two hours. telluride, they have seen a little lightning here in the last little bit. grand junction, a big batch of rain heading up i-70. over the high country, we have

aspen and up toward the flat tops. we'll watch the moisture continue to move to the east. whenever systems come from from the west, it's unusually not good news for denver and the front range in terms of seeing rain. that's the case today. we have the down sloping wind here drying things out. it's possible there could be a rain or two but no measurable rainfall for denver, fort collins or greeley. it morning, should be waking up close to freezing this time of year. instead, highs today in the 70s. yesterday we hit 79. we won't be that warm but mid- 70s, more than 10 degrees above normal. most mountain towns will top out in the 50s today. we'll get snowfall over the

berthoud. back close to 80 by thursday and 70s stick around through the weekend, with a little sneak peek all the way through halloween. it is sunny, warm and dry. >> that's good. typically you have to put the coat over the costume and that ruins it. good news for the kids out there. look at i-70 near kipling. garrison, we have that closure continuing through tomorrow. so we'll continue to watch that for you. this is at garrison under expect lane restrictions on i- 70 as well as they continue that work. earlier accident at santa fe and mississippi is out of the way, and c-470 north of 285, some paving operations there. up in the high country, some of those places seeing ice.

stretches out there that are a little dangerous this morning. happening this morning, a postal worker is accused of hording thousands of pieces of mail. prosecutors say tyson hildago stole 26,000 pieces of mail and had been hording it for the last couple of years. why? they haven't said. he's accused of delaying or destroying mail, carrying up to five years in prison fine. in southern colorado fire officials say the junkins fire didn't grow overnight and is now 50% contained. officials don't expect to have it fully contained for about three more weeks. the fire destroyed 9 homes and 17 other buildings east of west cliff.

officials enacted fire restrictions in the pike national forest, spanning several counties. and this means you can only build campfires on developed campgrounds, and you can only smoke in a vehicle or building. a woman from parker hit and killed a couple while texting and will be sentenced in january. the 28-year-old committed she was veered into oncoming traffic and hit two motorcycles. one rider was injured but okay. ryan and jackie lerner were on the other bike and both died. a rough way to start the week for both of these drivers.

truck tipped over and landed on a parked car. you can see the car is badly damaged. fortunately no one was hurt. a manhunt underway for a man in oklahoma who killed two and shot two police officers with a high powered assault tile weapon. police say michael vance jr. posted live videos on social media while running from police during a violent crime spree. he shot two officers, stole a patrol car killing his aunt and uncle on sunday. >> he has this mentality that nothing is going to be able to stop him. >> he has an arrest history of child sex abuse and drug possession. his family fears he could come back to kill more family members. pickup trucks may be among the biggest vehicles on the road but a new study finds their headlights may not be good enough, which could affect
