after the game last night. >> investigators estimate he fell about 60 feet. it happened in an area between gates four and five. that's on the north side close to i-25. investigator rick salinger has been looking into what happened. joins us live now tonight. rick? >> reporter: this is the second time in two years that a fan has died from a fall at a broncos game here. last time it involved alcohol. this time around, nothing is definite so far. the game ended with a much wanted denver broncos victory. but whap tragic. >> incident inside the stadium. fire and ems are coming in, maybe more than one. critical at bronco stadium. >> somebody fell several floors. >> reporter: it happened in an enclosed stairwell. the fall involved several stories. michael martinez works at the stadium. >> fell backwards and hit every level. >> reporter: from what could be seen, the fall was a long one. >> each level that he fell

pretty gruesome. >> reporter: denver police are investigating but no foul play is believed to be involved. >> at this time it appears this man was sitting on top of a railing, lost his balance and fell. about 60 feet. probe last year a man fell 20 feet at a broncos ravens game. that person was determined to be intoxicated at the time. police are still investigating this latest fall. >> it's unclear to us whether or not there was drugs or alcohol involved. that would be part of the medical examiner's investigation. >> reporter: last year it was francisco morales who died. this year the fan was jason coy. the denver broncos issued a statement saying we are reviewing this tragic incident and we'll continue to maintain all necessary safety measures for our fans. live at-mile high stadium, rick salinger, cbs4 news.

the home of denver bronco player demarcus ware. it happened during last nights game. he tweeted out today came home to find my house was robbed. thank god for hidden cameras. police released these pictures of the suspect just a few hours ago. sources tell us the thieves stole a safe and his super bowl ring from the players home in cherry creek. we're going to have a live update on the investigation coming up tonight at 6:00. new details about the air force academy cadet accused of rape. just before his trial was to jazz work -- he took a plea deal which allows him to avoid prison time. he will spend a year in jail, and 10 years of probation. he pled guilty to second-degree assault. the daily camera reports he is the second air force cadet to either plead guilty or be found guilty in a sex assault in boulder this year. the latest after a truck carrying cattle overturns causing quite a mess up in the high country. dozens of those cars were -- or cows rather were running loose after the crash.

it was in the eastbound lanes of the interstate. mounted newsroom reporter matt kroschel still on scene, matt, have the wranglers been able to corral all those loose animals yet? >> reporter: about 20 of them still unaccounted for spread between georgetown and exit six miles away. those wranglers put up these temporary fences here to catch a good number of those cows. but still so many of them on the loose. a cattle truck on its side. t' road rash or something. >> reporter: some of the cows died in the crash. others escape. some injured. the roundup that followed was a spectacle. >> folks around georgetown could not remember witnessing before. >> just heard of cattle comes down the road in the middle. and shocked. >> reporter: ted brown pulled off the highway to watch as cowboys on horseback wrestled to recapture the not so happy cows scattered all over town.

cattle that seemed to have been glad to be free. >> reporter: state patrol troopers say the driver of the truck lost his brakes. he was not hurt. he could face charges, though. the herd was headed to lamar from a ranch in utah. a few hours of freedom, though, on this unplanned stop. >> i don't know. turned out pretty well for them. certainly exciting for a lot of people that don't see this on an everyday basis. >> reporter: now, those wranglers and local police warning drivers out here on i- 70 and on local roadways to be looking out for those cows because they have not been able to find them yet. they are going to come back out tomorrow with more hoses and hopefully round them up. because they did catch down at the fairgrounds right now, as veterinarians are taking a look. and trying to help out. a couple injuries but a wild day here in georgetown. live in georgetown, matt kroschel, cbs4 news.

thanks very much. new information as a nine-hour police standoff finally ends. the men and women who were barricaded inside a home in brighton have surrendered peacefully. three schools in the area were on lockout during the drama. all the kids are safe. and were let out of school at the normal time. new develops over the catholic archdiocese plans to build a retreat at jefferson county. the plans call for the retreat along highway 285 near conifer. as jamie leary shows us some worried that is a risky area for wildfires. >> reporter: commissioners were expected to make a decision today but the fire chief was out actually dispatched to a fire so it was very difficult for those commissioners to get the answers they were looking for. still the hearing lasted for several hours, many people are giving the idea of the proposed retreat was sold to them as son -- something much smaller than what it turned into. still those same people express they were willing to compromise with a lot of small adjustments. for instance making the fire pits gas instead of wood for safety and adding more

in addition the retreat would be tax-exempt but the fire district has asks for reimbursement for resources. archdiocese agreed, however the amount of money is still being negotiated. this was one of many issues that was hard to resolve this morning with nobody present to represent the fire district. the commission also said they didn't get the clarity they were hoping for on the proposed retreat from archdiocese. >> when the community comes together and works out their problem, as opposed to bring it to the government, to work out their problems, i was there would be better cohesion to that. >> reporter: these factors made it awfully difficult for the decision to be made today on the retreat. so it's back to the drawing board for both sides hoping that a compromise can be reached. a no decision does not necessarily mean that it won't happen. in jefferson county, jamie leary, cbs4 news. the fire jamie was talking about is the junkins fire. burning southwest of pueblo and now 60% contained. however, some people are still

campaigning in a key state. both hillary clinton and donald trump are in florida. cbs4's shaun boyd is at the campaign 2016 desk. shaun, florida look like it's going to go down to the wire. >> reporter: it is one of the biggest prizes. florida has 29 electoral votes. the most recent battleground tracker poll shows clinton leading trump by just three points in the state. florida seizing on the latest release of hacked e-mails from clinton's campaign manager saying they implied president obama knew the secretary of state was using a private e- mail server. >> he didn't want to get caught up in the big lie. he is caught up, folks. >> reporter: his first presidential act will be to repeal obamacare. saying recently announced rate hikes of 25 to 40% are hurting employees at his florida golf resort. although the general manager says most of them receive company provided insurance. hillary clinton says the

this is the news developing now. investigators trying to find out what caused a deadly accident at an australian theme park. for adults died on a river rapids ride at dreamworld park this afternoon. malfunction through two people from the raft, the other two got caught inside the structure. it is billed as a family- friendly ride that lets riders as young as two years old. >> screaming while the mom was like trapped under. >> now working together with the park to try and determine how this tragic incident has occurred. >> police say they were no problems with the right in the past. the park will be closed tomorrow. research underway at university of colorado hospital could shorten treatment time for certain breast cancer patients. very exciting news could also lead to a nationwide change in

joined the study. >> that's right. she's a wife and mother. she's all for fast tracking therapy to get her busy life back to normal. >> if i had to tack two more weeks under this? >> reporter: stylist mindy has had enough. she enjoys her work. she loves her family. but a double mastectomy and chemotherapy seven months of fighting breast cancer have taken a toll. >> being a patient is like another job. >> reporter: mindy jumped at the chance to join a clinical trial at colorado hospital. they were looking for node positive patients. >> cancer has moved from the breast to the lymph nodes. >> reporter: radiation oncologist dr. christine fisher is studying hypo-fractionated radiation therapy. it means fewer but larger radiation treatments. mindy would have had radiation five days a week for six weeks. 30 total treatments. in the trial she'll undergo 19 total treatments.

to take just two weeks out of that, totally worth it to me. >> reporter: dr. fisher says the therapy is already being done successfully in other countries. >> and in some trials we've actually seen better results with a shorter -- just so sick of all this. >> reporter: cutting because radiation means a lot to mindy and her kids. >> i think my children feeling like this is coming to an end quicker is worth every bit. enrolling patients. and the research is also being done at to others uc health hospitals, valley in fort collins and memorial in colorado springs. >> great news. thank you. here's a story, a baby in texas has two birthdays to celebrate. doctors briefly removed her from the womb to perform life- saving surgery on her mother. then put her back in until she reached full term. in the middle of pregnancy

it was robbing the baby of blood and would have killed her before birth. 24 weeks in, surgeons pulled the feeder -- pulled the fetus out, removed 90% of the tumor. >> it was a big shock. and we were scared and i had just suffered a miscarriage the prior year. to think that i might lose another baby was very hard. >> reporter: operation a success. 12 weeks later margaret gave birth to the healthy baby girl a second doctors removed the rest of that tumor. >> quite a story. ed greene's forecast. some clouds today but still very mild. >> that's right. that's all we got out of the moisture. clouds in denver started to clear right now. a couple folks did see a sprinkle or two but that was about it. a few snow showers but as we said just not going to get a whole lot. low pressure system is drifting north to canada, we have the moisture flow but it's going to go up over the high-pressure

high and dry and as you look to the west you can see how the skies are clearing. all the dry air is coming our way. hour by hour, whatever showers we have left quickly dissipate and we'll run this right in today's time tomorrow night. you can see hardly a cloud in the sky around here. so as we take a look at the big picture, under the influence of one front, cold front not going to make it in. 70s over the next several days. back to lauren whitney in the colorado weather center. we were cooler today at 72 but normal. >> we are going to get warmer as we head towards the later part of the week. jet stream is just over colorado right now. usually this time of year it's a little bit more south. cooler air, but right now that is more to our north. and we have high-pressure down to the southwest over parts of texas, so a little bit of moisture coming our way but the cool air of to our north. unfortunately don't see much change and the high-pressure dominates for the next several days. temperatures only going to get warmer as we head towards the weekend. it's actually really warm across the southern part of the

>> down here in arizona, 92 degrees so far, high today 86 in el paso, 83 brownsville. warm air that lauren talked about, south of the jet stream but to the north of the jet stream, 50s, 60s, a few 70s but right down to the nation's capital 64 degrees, new york only 51. a couple days ago they were in the mid-80s. take a look at our current or what we had four today in denver 72 and out. well above the norm of 62 and 33. 80 and one the extremes for this date. how dry are we? so far we've only had about a quarter of an inch of rain. almost two thirds of an inch below normal and since september, only about an inch 1/3, below normal. 70 and 66 right now, northeast eight for the winds, rising barometer, look at this from phil kerry our weather watcher, takes this dramatic sunrise

the broncos running game showed up in a big way last night in the victory over the texans. season-high 190 yards and if you paid attention, you saw a really nice mix of c.j. anderson and devontae booker. leading up to the game gary kubiak said he wanted to get booker more touches and last night that paid off. booker ran for a season-high 83 yards and his first career touchdown. c.j. anderson also had a season-high with 107 yards. the broncos loving the balance and dynamic between out. >> last night, we did a better job up front. we give them some more room to run. but i think when guys push each other, last year it was cj and ronnie pushing each other. and i think book, we were talking about andy, book is becoming more comfortable with what we're doing. we're more comfortable with book on the field in pass protection. so we are growing as a group, here we go in week eight and
