developing now on cbs4 news at 6:00, demarcus ware says he was a victim of a home break-in during last night's game. this morning he tweeted after a great win came home to find my house was robbed. he lives in the cherry creek neighborhood where we find cbs4's jeff todd. do we know what was taken? >> reporter: i wale demarcus ware's and she told me that his super bowl 50 championship ring was stolen as well as a safe. he did not play last night but he was at the stadium. it was around 530 last night when the burglars went into his house for about 10 minutes. these are the suspects that the kitten -- hidden cameras were able to capture. one man with a mustache. the other man in a red shirt both can be seen wearing

from being left as evidence. denver police are hoping someone recognizes these men or both of them. it's very possible they've been seen together in this area before. one thing detectives are looking into is how they were able to get into ware's apartment. there was no sign of forced entry. that source i spoke with also said he thinks this might have been an inside job possibly someone with a master key to the complex where ware lives. in the tweet he sent out, he also said never abou things. for me but my safety. thank god for hidden cameras. we'll have much more on this coming up on cbs4 news at 10:00. live in denver, jeff todd, cbs4 news. the latest on a fan who fell down a stairwell following last night broncos game. we have learned 36-year-old jason koi died from his injuries. police say he was sitting on top of a railing between gates four and five. he lost his balance. they estimate he fell about 60

gruesome. >> last year a man fell 20 feet at a broncos-ravens game. investigators determined that man was drunk. not clear if drugs or alcohol played a factor. new at 6:00, a grandmother says she's about to be homeless because of lousy construction work. cbs4's tom mustin live on the story tonight. sounds like she's been through a lot. >> reporter: fire guts of her louisville home two months ago. she was told by the company the house would be livable in two to three weeks. two months later you can see it's pretty much a construction zone. now she tells me her insurance money is maxed out. no one is returning her calls and she has nowhere else to go. don o'keefe doesn't know where to turn. >> i don't know where we're going to go. >> reporter: as of tuesday she and her family no longer have a place to live.

condyle for 13 years. and electrical fire got at her home. her insurance company paid for don and five family members including two grandchildren to live in a nearby hotel for up to two months. while the home was being restored. at that time don signed a contract with belfour restoration to fix the damage. >> he had actually told me the job would take between two and three weeks. >> reporter: the insurance company paid $15,000 for the work which she says was never completed. monday two months after the fire, found belfour had never applied for work permits and slapped a stop work tag on the home. >> your life is chaos. and you feel betrayed. it's like a secondary trauma. >> reporter: don's hotel stipend ran out. she says her home is uninhabitable. floors have been stripped and there's extensive water damage. she can't afford for her family to stay in a hotel. she had to give away her two cats. baby and coda, to a nearby shelter. >> i'm disheartened by the

>> reporter: nowhere to go, this colorado grandmother says she feels defeated and is hoping for a miracle. >> in disbelief that people could treat other people like this. >> reporter: we contacted belfour restoration and they would not talk to us about the livability but they did give us a statement saying quote, has agreed to pay for one additional week of hotel expenses on behalf of the okies while they work with carriers to resolve this matter. so if nothel live in louisville, tom mustin, cbs4 news. now to the latest on plans to build a religious retreat in jefferson county. the catholic archdiocese wants to build it off highway 285. but neighbors are worried about fire danger. and visitors accidentally starting a wildfire. today county commissioners held a hearing on that proposal. dozens of people came to comment. commissioners ended up continuing the hearing until december because the fire chief was not there to give his

2016. we are focusing on the race for u.s. senate. despite bleak poll numbers, the challenger is pulling in a lot of money. specialist shaun boyd joins us now. how much money are we talking about? >> nearly $3 million in three months which is remarkable when you consider darryl glenn had raised only about $350 as of july. between july and the end of september, raised michael bennett, he brought in $2.7 million. to bennett's $2.2 million. overall, bennett has far outraised and outspent glenn but glenn says that fits his underdog status. >> all of my life i've been told no. that i was too poor, too short, too black. >> reporter: darryl glenn's campaign is in many ways is

nomination for u.s. senate. and if elected he would be one of only two black republicans in the senate in 50 years. >> i absolutely understand the humiliation being stopped for no reason other than driving while black. >> reporter: glenn says he also understands what it's like to grow up working two and three jobs to get by. >> sitting there looking at people and they are crying talking about how they've lost over 1200 jobs because there's a war on coal, essentially. you magnify that with what's going on with the affordable care act. >> reporter: he promises to reduce regulations like those in the clean powerplant. and repeal obamacare. pointing to premium increases of more than 40% this year in parts of colorado. senator ted cruz a staunch critic of the law is a champion of glenn's. >> reporter: senator cruz led the government shutdown. was that the right move? >> what i think what should

about the entire congress, i would say there's probably about 95% of the things that people can agree on. why is it that we always wait until the last day and use partisan politics to shut down the government? >> reporter: while he once downplayed the importance of working across the aisle he now says he'll work with any party that puts country first. a retired lieutenant colonel, glenn says he will put national security first. >> my priority is to repeal the iran nuclear deal. i think that's extremely dangerous. >> reporter: chances of winning are slim but glenn says that's just how he likes it. >> go head. tell me i can't win the senate race. i love being the underdog. >> reporter: latest poll shows glenn trailing bennett by 18 points. but glenn told me he doesn't think the poles capture the real impact of his grassroots campaign. he says expect an upset on november 8. as you know i did a profile of incumbent michael bennett yesterday. you can see that on

we have new information on the arrest of a former boulder county sheriff's deputy. tyler mason is accused of offering to smuggle marijuana edibles and chewing tobacco into the jail in exchange for cash. investigators say he was doing it for an inmate who was a childhood friend. while the contraband never made it into the jail, mason was fired, now he's facing conspiracy charges. developing now colorado becomes the testing ground for new technology. last week a truck made its way

kelly werthmann live now along the highway for us. this was all perfectly safe? >> reporter: cdot made sure of it. they were part of this historic trip and this self driving truck while it traveled down i- 25 when there wasn't a lot of traffic. and in doing so made history here in colorado. it was a beer run like no other. a semi-delivered 2000 collins to colorado springs without a driver behind the wheel. >> one switch and it's driving yourself down the road. >> reporter: the over owned self driving vehicle company says the 120-mile long commercial delivery completed last week was the first of its kind. and the colorado department of transportation believes self driving vehicles will eventually make the states roads safer. >> in a future where cars and trucks can drive themselves,

the unique delivery ensuring public safety. involving state patrol to escort a driverless journey. >> it was a self driving truck that was in a convoy that was as protective as possible. >> reporter: in the promotional video the truck is seen cruising down i-25 and at one point the driver leaves his seat and moved to the back. we questioned if that move was legal. >> it's not that it's legal. it's more that it's not illegal. this is a function of technology outpacing >> reporter: the laws are expected to change as self driving vehicles become more widely used so this unique beer run is just a glimpse of what's on tap. >> this is something we believe is going to make the roads safer in colorado. >> reporter: cdot says this was a one-time thing. at least for now. so they say there's no need for drivers to be looking around to see if there is a driver behind any some eyes. so be sure to tune into cbs4

we're going to get a closer look behind the scenes of that self driving truck. live in the mobile weather lab, kelly werthmann, cbs4 news. pretty interesting at least a self driving truck that can't be. >> very true. there was a driver in the mobile weather lab. >> okay. >> here is the moisture we had that is going up north of our state. that's where the cooler air is and it's cooler for the playoffs. gloves on, blown on their hands, they could have the weather here and it's tailor- made for the playof scattered showers especially southeast. that's always on around here today. widely scattered. we did see the clouds, now dissipated and looked to the west, just as the sun is going down, what you do see is clear skies, here are the couple showers we have left. they disappeared rather quickly. right in the news time tomorrow night. that's wednesday at 10:00 and you see border to border nothing but clear skies and we stay that way pretty much right through the weekend. maybe even through halloween.

air away from us to the north. we'll be under the influence of the warm front. warm desert air washes over our state. let's go to lauren whitney in the colorado weather center. you've got the warm mild there. >> right now the jet stream is just over colorado. so usually at this time of year it's parked over us or just to the south. right now it is just to our north. high-pressure is keeping us on the warm side. much of the south is going to be very, very warm and which is great news for trick- or-treaters. we could use some of the moisture but if we can have a nice halloween for the kids that will be great. and we are looking at a little area of low pressure so we do have a little bit of moisture right now with us. but it's not bringing us much. just scattered showers across parts of colorado. that clears out tomorrow, we do have a wave of very dry conditions thanks to the high- pressure over the next several days. it was a warm day today. cooler than yesterday and warmer temperatures on tap. >> exactly right. cooler than yesterday 79 degrees, we were 72 but that is still 10 degrees above normal

the losing streak is finally over after two straight losses the broncos feeling pretty good about themselves today after a victory over the texans on monday night football. certainly didn't get off to a great start. but the broncos dominated the final three quarters. the offense scored through the air and on the ground. the defense forced two turnovers and kept the texans out of the end zone for the entire game. finally the broncos looked like the broncos again. >> we've been kind of beating each other. as far as doing enough. the offense not doing enough. but today we were complete. that's the best part. >> we need that win. thank god we got it. obviously we've got an opportunity to get on the road, get on a roll. that's what it's about. >> less than three weeks away from the start of college basketball season. cu buffs holding the media day today up in boulder. big expectations for tad boyle's team. the buffs fifth in the pac-12,

million vw and audi owners in this country can now sell those cars back to the company. they are also eligible for a payment of up to $10,000. and the state of colorado will also be getting $61 million from the settlement to invest in fighting pollution. investigators are trying to find out what caused a deadly freak accident at an australian themepark. for adults died on a river rapids ride at dreamworld park. a malfunction through two people from the craft. the structure. the right is billed as a family- friendly ride that lets on kids as young as two years old. police say they were no problems with the right in the past. new video shows an unlucky driver in switzerland chasing his runaway car down the highway. he apparently parked alongside the road to talk to a truck driver when his car took off on its own. the man eventually was able to catch up to it but not before it banged up a guardrail and hit a traffic sign.
