out on the streets. today jury selection begins. we are live at the jefferson county justice center. and i understand this could be a lengthy trial. >> reporter: this will be a lengthy trial. today is only day one. 200 people have been summoned for jury selection. that's a process that's going on as we speak. it will last through end of the day and continue n into tomorrow. the trial -- continue into tomorrow. the triait here is why. not only are there three defendants but the crime spree left a trail of victims, who have been subpoenaed as witnesses. bank surveillance video shows the suspects robbing a bank last fall. it ended with a chase, two carjackings and two people shot. the video is key to this case. the prosecution has looked at the mannerisms of the suspects to dna analysis on the clothing and the masks.

arguments around witness accounts and said it's not clear who the men in the masks actually. the three men face dozens of charges including robbery, kidnapping and attempted murder. there are six weeks slated for the trial right now. so december 6th is the last day that the jury is asked to slate their schedules for. opening arguments in this case are expected to begin monday courthouse, cbs 4 news. >> thank you for that. developing now, police are investigating the drowning of a toddler in lakewood. the 18-month-old girl was with her grandparents on west louisiana. the grandparents were doing yard work when the girl apparently wandered to a neighbor's home and fell into a pond. the neighbor's quickly pulled her out but that girl died. even though there is an investigation, police say they

second lawsuit involving the parents of dylan redwine. he is the 13-year-old boy who disappeared in november 2012. his remains were found months later in southwest colorado. a judge dismissed the lawsuit. his father mark redwined filed against his mother on monday. he accused her of intentionally inflecting emotional distress. last year, a the lawsuit making those allegations. and now we move on to campaign 2016. republican donald trump stepped out of his political role and back into business mode. and democrat hillary clinton is celebrating her birthday in florida. craig boswell reports from trump's newest hotel. >> reporter: donald trump cut the ribbon on his brand new luxury hotel here in washington, d.c. >> we built one of the great real estate companies of the world. but it seems very insignificant
