we begin with new developments in the case of two men accused of breaking in to a bronco player's home. mccaslin andanother suspect are accused of stealing from ware including his super bowl ring. >> dillon thomas live at the county jail. at the pawnshop. >> when it comes down to the pawnshop, a lot of the people who work there are just some of the many who helped locate the suspects who allegedly broke in to demarcus ware's home. for demarcus ware, he's happy because he has his super bowl ring back, and the police department says a lot of the thanks can actually go out to those who helped provide tips. >> reporter: thursday afternoon 31-year-old sergio irezza and

crimestoppers line helped them track down the duo who were seen in surveillance video at ware's home. >> i knew they were going to find him because of the fact he's such high profile. >> reporter: she works at mister money, a pawnshop which police say mccaslin frequented. >> i wouldn't say very often but he was in here. >> reporter: police compared images to ware's home on surveillance video to those at the pawnshop which helped them positively identifyhe you wonder if it's because somebody knew he wasn't going to be there. >> reporter: carl wallace has been a season ticket holder since 1976. >> it's good to see people supporting him. >> reporter: he says he wasn't shocked to hear broncos nation came together to catch the suspected thieves. >> it's impressive. people are basically good and people are going to help somebody to support him, especially somebody they follow and respect like demarcus ware.

and players can come together to be united in orange. >> he worked too hard to get that ring. >> as for those suspects, they remain behind bars behind me. billy mccaslin has a little bit of a background including child abuse charges. as for the other man, his charges are limited to traffic offenses. happening now, crews searching a landfill for the bodyf he was reported missing from cheyenne, wyoming over the weekend after the mother gave the boy to a man so he could go fishing. police say the child died at the home, was later dumped in the trash bin. the trash has been dumped north of greeley where police are working to find the boy's body. newly released video takes us inside the chaos when parker police came under fire. moments earlier a sheriff's

wounded. parker officer ronnie dorrell running toward the gunman, then taking cover by a car door of a witness. dorrell fired one shot and that hit the suspect randy rodick in the head. minutes earlier he shot and wounded deputy dan brite. brite was seriously hurt but is now recovering. today the officer who killed the gunman was commended for his professionalism under fire. >> to know that there's an officer down, to know that people are being shot at and to know that this guy is armed to the hilt and yourself, take in that sight picture, slow your breathing, and pull that trigger one time and end this thing. >> d.a. brauchler cleared the officer involved in the shooting and thanked the suspect's wife for calling 911 to report he was drunk and heavily armed. he had an arson of guns and ammo in his suv.

homeless are camped out. the city is actually facing a lawsuit for a similar cleanup that took place back in march. cbs4's rick sallinger explains how this one today was different. >> good evening. in america's largest city, park avenue is considered a place of distinction and wealth. here it's a last resort for the down and out. another reminder of that today. >> reporter: their life possessions i their home is a sidewalk. the landlord arrived today, not to kick them out but to clean up what's been turned a health hazard. crystal was tidying it up on her own. >> why are you here after they cleaned everybody out and moved them away? >> there's no place to go. >> reporter: she called the

>> just -- so you get kicked out or you say something stupid to somebody one day. get kicked out forever. >> reporter: the area is beginning to look a lot like it did last march when the city of denver moved the homeless out and cleaned the place up. people who work around here are not happy. >> garbage, people using the building like a bathroom and things like that. we certainly were hoping that was going to stop. >> but the people who come here say it's because they feel the problem with outreach workers and compassion. >> it's not right for people to be livingant ostreets, particularly if we can address it with these services. >> reporter: while we were there the police arrived after a paramedic reported a homeless man had threatened him with knives. sometimes even trying to help can be hard. the city of denver released a statement today saying even with increased outreach, the people

refusing services. this cannot continue. we firmly believe people are best served indoors. but the homeless remain. on broadway and park avenue west, rick sallinger, cbs4 news. right now new information after a car plowed in to a building in denver. copter 4 was over the scene on 17th and downing. the car hit the atrium of a now vacant restaurant. the driver campaign trail. a plane that slid off the runway in new york is carrying vice presidential candidate mike pence. live picture for you from the scene. heavy rain at laguardia airport in new york right now. there are reports that governor pence made sure everyone onboard was okay. we just watched people walk off the plane, get in to waiting suburbans there. we know of no injuries. we'll keep you posted on this. >> white knuckle landing. eric trump is back in

holding a rally at colorado university. as of this morning, more than 572,000 coloradoans have turned in their ballots, about 1/6th of the ballots that have gone out. almost 225,000 registered democrats, 196,000 registered republicans have sent in their ballots so far. andrea flores is live at a drop-off location with what you need to know if you've not votee ways to vote in colorado. and today we got a behind the scenes look at how your ballot is counted. >> reporter: early voting has begun in all 64 counties across colorado. secretary of state wayne williams says bipartisan judges, both democrat and republican are working together to make sure your vote stays safe. >> one vote can make a difference. >> reporter: with the highest

in the country, williams says 95% of coloradoans vote by mail. >> every vote counts the same so no election is final until all those ballots are counted. >> reporter: in arapahoe county election workers are keeping tabs of your ballot the second it's received. from counting ballots to verifying signatures, williams says decisions you've made are validated every step of the way. >> if you've returned your mail ballot, you're going to be ed voted. if you show up to try to vote in person, we'll say ma'am, it appears you've already voted. sir, you can't vote two times. >> reporter: williams says surveillance cameras and secured networks ensure safety so machines and scanners can tally your party affiliation but won't reveal who you voted for. >> we test before and after for each machine to make sure it's counted accurately. >> reporter: the secretary of state says votes remain in the system until results are

elevations. but they don't last long and the skies clear once again. as we run it in to sunday, a few clouds around here. partly cloudy skies, 2:00 sunday, just in time for the bronco game and the temperatures are staying in the 70s. you'll see that in the 5-day forecast. we do have warm air continuing to push over our area and cool air down in to the northeast, so much so that's where the snow is. we've got rain changing to snow in portions of canada, western new york state, vermont, pretty good snow at that. but the jet stream goes up to the north and down as you push to the east and that lets a lot of the cool air in but in our area, let's a lot of the warm air up in to colorado and the warm air and dry conditions, not too good. let's go to lauren whitney in the colorado weather center. the new drought monitor came out today. >> it did. there's actually a big increase in our area. you can see a lot more yellow if you've been paying attention in to parts of the northeast. they've had a lot of dry

we have the drought expanding in to the northeastern corner and we still have it pretty much the same as last month. last week it was at about 50-ish percent across the state in the drought. now it's expanded to 65%. weld county, larimer county, a little bit in to weld county and down south in to the denver area for our moderate drought so some dry conditions are expanding across the state and again a real area of concern is out on the eastern plains where they have seen some conditions. we've also had very warm temperatures as well this week and actually record breaking today and could be more of that tomorrow. >> that's right, as we add the dry conditions, now we add record heat. not a good thing. 83 today at d.i.a. 80 was the old record for this day. also 83 downtown. start off in the mid 40s. 61 and 33 are normal for this time of year. as we take a look at the weather

looks can be deceiving when it comes to sports injuries. we've seen that look awful then the guy is back out there the next week. kind of the opposite with cj anderson. he hurt his knee monday night but finished the game and ran for today anderson having surgery on a torn meniscus and that's when they determined how bad it is. best case is he's out several weeks, couple months. worst case, he's done for the season. unfortunately for the broncos, dealing with injuries, just part of the business in the nfl. >> everybody has to battle some time of injury throughout their career and overcome it, and cj, he'll do that. he'll be right back for us. what injury does, it gives
