we start cbs4 news at 6:00 with breaking news. hillary clinton is now calling on the fbi to immediately release all of the information it has on her newly discovered e-mails. earlier today the agency announced it was looking into those e-mails to see if they include any classified information. clinton commented on the investigation less than an hour ago. >> the director himself has said he dot the e-mails referenced in his letter are significant or not. i'm confident, whatever they are, will not change the conclusion reached in july. therefore, it's imperative that the bureau explain this issue in question, whatever it is, without any delay. >> these new e-mails were actually uncovered during the sexting investigation of former congressman anthony weiner. he is the estranged husband of

right now hundreds of people are being allowed back to their homes after this wildfire in douglas county. fire crews fully contained the chatridge fire just about an hour ago but at one point those flames were raging. in more than 850 homes were evacuated. >> is it even closed highway 85 for a couple of hours. it burned south of highlands ranch. cbs4 is live at the scene. andrea, scary homeowners in that area. >> reporter: that's right. certainly a scary afternoon for a lot of folks here. hundreds of homes were evacuated in the back country subdivision. residents have since been allowed back in. but if you take a look behind me you can see they are now getting a firsthand look at the burn area and how close those flames came to their neighborhood. the fire started at 10 acres just around noon but quickly grew to more than 200 acres by

subdivision. the sheriff's office issued an evacuation notice for residents living within half a mile of the sundial house rec center in the back country neighborhood. one evacuee described seeing the burn area for the first time. >> seeing my house right over that hill, it's a little scary. originally my first thoughts were who is in the house what do i need to get. it was a scary thank god that my house was saved. thank god that no one got hurt. just praying to god that everything gets cleared and no one is injured. >> reporter: now, south metro fire says no injuries have been reported, and no structures were destroyed. the cause of the fire is still under investigation. reporting live in douglas county, andrea floor remember, cbs4 news. >> andrea, thanks. well, these unusually warm temperatures certainly aren't helping. despite the clouds we hit

meteorologist chris spears is live out there with the mobile weather lab. >> reporter: here's a stat four. i know will you like this. since the first of august -- well, you won't like this but i know you are a stats guy. since the 1st of august we have only had 11 days of measurable rain, and that has only totaled .76. we are 80% below where we should be for that period. the result, this dry vegetation. i met a gentleman named kyle country neighborhood. take a look at what he saw flying down his street as that fire broke out. the air crews were called in. several helicopters and airplanes flying. they made a very quick attack of the flames protecting dozens and dozens of homes in the area. it was a very, very close call. they said could you feel the wind as those aircraft flew overhead and buzzed very lowly. they made eerie sounds from their engines and their water drops as they were picking up water and going through.

still see the scene. it is smoldering, and it will smolder all night long. crews will stay out here and monitor it, and because of the smoldering and the smoke, we are going to have an air quality alert for the rest of the night for the denver metro area. jim and karen, 71 degrees right now. our normal high is 61 at this hour on october 28th we should be about 45, 50 degrees. way above normal. no wonder we have this high fire danger. >> chris, you're right. developing no without pay after being arrested for theft. julian archuleta is accused of take money from a crime scene. investigators say a body camera reported officer archuleta taking $1200 in cash that belonged to a. new developments on the death of a 13-month-old boy. police arrested the mom's boyfriend. the family is from wyoming. investigators plan to search a

authorities are not identifying the boy. authorities say someone at the home told investigators the body had been dumped into a trash container at a local community college. we will update you on the search monday here on cbs4 news. one person is in the hospital after an ugly crash in denver. it was early this morning. police say the red corvette was speeding when it crashed into a light pole on south santa shenango. a passenger was trapped that in wrecked corvette for nearly an hour before going to a hospital in critical condition. police will determine if that driver was drunk or high. back to politics, donald trump will be campaigning in colorado again tomorrow. he will hold a rally at the jefferson county fairgrounds in golden. it is the third time he has visited colorado this month. new information now on a ballot measure in boulder. billionaire and former new york mayor michael bloomberg has

promoting a tax on sugary drinks. if it passed, an extra two cents per ounce tax would apply to soda. you may remember he banned larger sizes of so dayne new york. that ban was later tossed out. >> we are talking about a staggering amount of money. one out of state corporation alone has spent million on a colorado ballot measure. we usually hear about outside spending in our congressional races, but this year our ballot measures are also attracting big money from all over the country. >> amendment 70s, it goes too far. >> from political ads to a trojan horse. >> we've been touring colorado. >> groups for and against colorado's ballot initiatives are going for broke this election in more ways than one.

on the measures and most of it is from out of state. >> and they are trying to rewrite our constitution. >> josh with "raise the bar," a group pushing amendment 71 which would make it more difficult to change the constitution. most of its money, more than $13 million, coming from oil and gas companies that he says are disproportionately targeted. >> colorado does have an easy constitution to am these groups view colorado as sort of a petition tree dish. it's not just about the policy, it's about other states and other election cycles. so what happens is we've made ourselves a target. >> take amendment 72 which would raise the tax on tobacco. philip morris has spent more than $60 million to fight it. amendment 70 funded almost entirely by groups outside colorado. they have spent nearly $4.5

to defeat amendment 71 which opponents call a trojan horse. >> they are going to destroy the citizen initiative process. so it is only going to be available to the wealthiest private interests. >> ironically, the horse is funded by, you guessed it, an out of state special ask group. >> if you support the change of policy, it doesn't belong in the constitution. more over, why should an out of state group be able to broader input process from the entire state? >> national unions among the biggest sectors. they have largely bank rolled the minimum wage issue. the secretary of state doesn't track who has spent the most on ballot measures but as far as i can tell the title goes to a rhode island company that wanted to bring casino gambling to the metro area in 2014. it spent more than $18 million, and the ballot measure, it failed.

from our weather watchers, 67 in buena vista. west of leader was 88 degrees today. we do have a rising barometer. a nice shot here from phil curry. look at these lenticular clouds how they swirl around. he is our weather watcher who is also a pilot, so this is west of rocky look at this one, lake dillon just as the sun is going down. you can see the mountains and you can also see the reflection. kind of a dramatic shot. temperatures tonight in the 40s and 50s over the eastern plains, 30s and 40s for the mountains out west. for tomorrow a little bit cooler around here but look at how much cooler to the north. 49 in laramie. we won't be that bad. 70s and 80s for the eastern plains. 50s and 60s for the mountains. out west temperatures in the six and 70s. and your forecast, becoming
