craig boswell reports from the white house. >> donald trump continued to hammer hillary clinton over the fbi's discovery of e-mails. >> i think that's called the mother lode. >> i think they found them all. >> reporter: the bureau found them on a computer shared by huma abedin and her estranged houston, anthony weiner for sending texts to an underage girl. >> reporter: the letter says the bureau doesn't know whether the material is significant or not. >> it's pretty strange to put something like that out with such little information right before an election. >> it's not yet clear how the discovery will impact voters' decisions.

voters in key states were asked their thoughts. and 71% have either already voted or it won't change their minds. >> 22 million or so votes have already been cast. >> the clinton campaign is doing all it can to make sure that supporters head to the polls. >> are any of you going to be distracted. >> clinton had leads in nor colorado, according to one poll. a new poll from cbs news shows the u.s. senate race in colorado tightening up. the polls show daryl glenn has pulled to within 5 points of michael bennett. the poll was taken at the end of last week and has a margin of error of plus or minus 4.1%.

western oklahoma. the violent crime spree of 38- year-old michael vance has come to an end. clay sanders spotted him in a flat bed truck and pulled him over. they exchanged gunfire and the sheriff was shot in the elbow and the shoulder. vance took off and was tracked down 25 minutes later and killed in a shootout with four oklahoma state troopers. authorities got a tip that the hammond, oklahoma. he had apparently stolen a car and hidden it. >> a farmer discovered a vehicle in his field. a vehicle that came very close to matching the description of the vehicle we'd been looking for. >> he's accused of shooting and stabs his aunt and uncle eight days ago. according to the arrest report

uncle -- sever his uncle's head. during his run from the law he posted live videos to facebook, threatening to attack more people. >> reporter: we are waiting for details on suspects after a deadly shooting on saturday night. it happened after a party. neighbors say three men were shot outside a home at 43rd and columbine. two men died and the third is in critical condition. one of those killed was 37-year- old terr friends say he had a lot to live for. >> he was an outstanding young man in his prime and was very motivated about his future. police do not have information about a motive nor details on suspects. and the hunt is on for thieves who stole four weapons from the pony express firearms in parker. police say the thieves

reached in to grab 2 ak-47s and other weapons. a police officer shot in the line of duty is sharing her story. officer eade was chases -- near 37th and grove. the department posted the interview. >> i could tell. his face and posture changed. he locked eyes with me and started kind of -- made a beeline right at me. i was he started to walk at me with his eyes on me. i looked down and saw he has a gun in his right-hand. it was very clear his intention was to kill me. >> police shot and killed gonzalez after a brief chase. the denver district attorney ruled the shooting was justified. the largest quake in 35 years hit italy yesterday.

we should hear more about wade phillips this afternoon. he fell backward and hit his head when gordon plowed into him on the sidelines. he did get to go home last night. the defense came through in the win against the chargers. the first broncos touchdown actually came from the defense. remember this? that changed the game really. the offense once again struggled. trevor siemian gets sacked and fumbles. and even with the win, coach kubiak is not completely pleased. >> we were missing some pieces, battling our tail off.

we are of course wrapping up the month of october. this is going all the way back to the first. every red day is an above normal day. the blues are below average temperatures. look at the whole month and the average temperature, high and lows, 57.7 degrees. that's 6.5 degrees above normal. here are the top five warmest octobers in denver's history. here and it's possible that it could be a three way tie for second. i doubt we could reach to first place. we have an upper level system coming through. it's a front and causing wind. copper mountain is reporting 40- mile-per-hour wind gusts. and in and near the foothills, the wind is gusty. and for everybody it will be at least a little breezy at times all the way through the start

merge closer to closed lanes. some cities are encouraging using the zipper merge. >> i stay in that lane as long as possible and then merge into it. >> can you blame her? >> the other cars line up in the right lane and all that empty pavement is sitting there unused. now some traffic engineers are saying go, use that space. >> so it's okay to cut? kansas is one of eight states using the zipper merge system. the state department of transportation put up signs asking drivers to use both lanes and take turns. what this does is brings predictability to the commute. it takes five to six minutes to get through the work zone even in peak traffic. and the cars keep moving and
