trump for calling the election rigged. and first at 10:00, more than two dozen families in castle rock won't be sleeping in their beds tonight. investigators still have a lot of work to do after explosive materials were found inside a house in the plum creek neighborhood. jeff todd is live, and it started with the arrest of two kids? >> reporter: and one of them could be facing serious charges. the parents were about # this -- 8:00 this morning when the explosive chemicals were found, and about 12 hours later they were detonated. >> the detonation was necessary to protect the public, protect the residents in the area, and to protect the officers on scene. >> reporter: a massive response from castle rock police, the douglas county bomb squad, the fbi and atf will continue to work through the night to make sure they found all the dangerous explosives inside the house.

there's more explosive devices in there, but from the initial cursory investigation we didn't find anymore. >> reporter: the parents of teens are cooperating. some of the chemicals are legal, but the explosive materials are not. investigators stopped short of calling it a bomb. >> these are devices that were dangerous, but required additional manipulation or steps to become actual bombs. >> reporter: charges could be possible for the teen, but police say the explosives were not related to the original arrest from early this morning. >> i've not seen this level of mist case from a juvenile. >> reporter: the police -- mist case from a juvenile. >> reporter: the police says what they found at this home is in no way linked to any rumored

schools. live notary public castle rock, jeff todd. and just in tonight a denver woman charged with attempted murder now in north dakota. authorities there say she fired at police while protesting an oil pipeline project. investigators say 37-year-old red fawn follis fired three shots at a sheriff's deputy last week. she missed, and the deputy did not fire back. it was the third time she was arrested at the same pipeline protest. and a developing story, the case of a woman's body found over the weekend, investigated as a homicide. cbs 4 news is live near 47th and kingston in denver, and we've learned more about how she died? >> reporter: yeah, jim, the coroner released information today that the young woman found in this highly industrial area, you can see a number of warehouses on this street, was strangled to death. the body was discovered saturday afternoon about 5:30

kingston. investigators had a number of streets blocked off for several hours over the weekend. police have very little information right now about exactly what may have happened, but the coroner was able to again identify the victim as 23- year-old arsella miranda from denver, and they were able to determine she died from strangulation. if you have information you might be able to help the police in this case, you're live in denver, cbs 4 news. thank you. and we're learning new details agent the man from -- about the man from wyoming accused of killing his girlfriend's baby and putting the body in a dumpster. he told investigators he brought the 13 month old boy to a house where people were smoking meth, and says the child fell off a counter, hit his head and eventually died.

outside a community college, the contents of dumpsters are taken to a land fill. crews planned to search the land fill today, but it was called off due to the high wind, and ronnellers has also -- rogers has also been changing the story on where the boy's body might be. and a weekend gun shift is raising questions about -- theft is raising questions about gun store security. someone stole four peoples sunday from this store in parker and never actually entered th outside the pony express firearms, and the store didn't actually do anything wrong, right lauren? >> reporter: there are no laws governing how a gun dealer protects and secures his business, but the atf provides some recommendations, one being to lock weapons away in a safe when the store is closed. when thieves broke into pony express firearms in parker this weekend, police say they

a surveillance camera caught only the suspect's hands reaching through security bars and grabbing four long rifles. >> moving forward, if this can be an example to others that wells have a better safeguard, that's the silver lining to look for here. >> reporter: the district attorney says the burglary comes after a string of similar thefts last summer where three gun stores and seven dozens of weapons were taken. >> it's a growing trend, it's a big concern. >> reporter: semiautomatic assault rifles like ak47s and ar15s seem to be the biggest targets. thought to fetch the most money on the black market. has investigators look to see if the crimes are connected, they recommend gun dealers seek safety tips from law enforcement. >> and consult mr. common sense

safety tests, but we found out through a government website it had a recall not fixed. >> it's not life threatening. >> reporter: in this case the unfixed recall was a safety risk, that the passenger air bag right not deploy in a crash. okay, let's go to another lot. auto mark usa in aurora. >> do you know about any recalls or anything about that? >> um, we don't actually put any cars on the lot recalls. our owner is adamant about fixing vehicles before it goes onto the lot. >> reporter: but a quick check of the vehicle identification number revealed this one had three open recall, including air bags. the manager later ensured us they disclose all recalls, and the customer signs a carfax disclosing the car's history. the colorado department of revenue says state law is clear. >> >. regulation states that at the time of sale they're

in writing. >> reporter: and let's check out one more dealership. at this volkswagen nissan in aurora we found a 2009 cadillac escalade on the lot, and we asked about the common takata air bag recall. >> we're not selling takatas. >> reporter: well, we checked, and the government shows this air bag that hasn't been fixed. >> if it is there's a disclosure. >> reporter: none of the vehicles agreed to discuss sales of vehicles under recall on camera, but tim jackson of the colorado automobile dealers association did. should recalled cars be on the lot for sale? >> they're on the streets, in driveways, in dealership lots. >> reporter: for some it's become a selling point.

degrees warmer than they were in las vegas today, so here comes the cool front that's pushing down and will cool us off by 20 degrees by thursday. but we're still under the warm front, been under it pretty much the whole month. lauren whitney is in the weather center, and october was really a warm month. >> yes, we crunched a lot of numbers today, and it was toasty around here. not just your average for october in 2016, putting us at the second warmest october since 1872 when they started keeping records. two other years tied that as well, but it's been since 1963 that we were that warm. temperatures toasty this month. the red days are days we were above average.

the month of october. one 40-degree day, but two days later back in the mid-80s, and we ended the month with a daily record high. we had quite a few of those, so today 79, it was toasty out here. >> well above normal for this time of year which is 59, so 20 degrees above normal, tying the 1950 temperature. 31 is normal, 10 the record. from alamosa 73, and arvada 81 today. 57 and 51 right now. 43 percent humidity, a rising barometer, and look at this pretty shot from norm, just a horse enjoyabling the summer- enegg joying the umer -- enjoying the summer-like wept, and having a wonderful time in estes park tonight. out west temperatures in the

50s, 60s, and 70s, no 80-degree raidings. 50s and 60s for the mountains, and out west 50s to the mid- 60s. the forecast tonight mostly clear skies, 43 and 44 by morning. then for tomorrow we'll look for partly sunny skies, temperatures in the upper 60s. we'll be cooler still on wednesday. 60 degrees, pretty close to normal for this time of year, and closer than we've been friday at 70, 65 on saturday. and don't forget the clocks go back saturday night, and then on sunday, monday, tuesday, and wednesday we stay in the 60s, but we also stay dry except maybe a scattered shower on monday. >> all right, ed, thank you. well the broncos win yesterday was exciting, but this denver broncos cheerleader stole the show over mile high wearing a giant t-rex costume, didn't miss a beat throughout the game, and the woman wearing

last i checked an nba game lasts 48 minutes. four quarter, 12 minutes a pop. why do i say that? because i feel like the nuggets need to hear it. halloween in canada, the nuggets defense pretty scary. raptors lead by 13 at the break. then mount a comeback. in the 4th nuggets up by two. they lead by six with less than six to go, and lowery and rosen took over. these two guys out scored the nuggets 12-3 down the stretch, combining for 62 points and the nuggets lose 105-102. >> portland playoff team,
