in adams county people in one mobile home park people waking up to flashing lights. >> it's happened on east bridge street north of bar lake. our shawn chitness hustleed out there. >> shawn, what do just getting on scene so we're getting as many details as we can from brighton police. it is a very busy scene as they're keeping us a good distance away. starting at 1:30 in the morning, calls coming in about a disturbance in the area. so police came to check out, see what was happening and they found a man on the porch of one of the mobile homes here and saw him bleeding. they think he had stab wounds.

injuries were. clearly bleeding and so he was taken to the hospital. police tell us he actually died at the hospital while in surgery. they are of course investigating this now as a homicide. we also know that there was a gathering at that house, but this victim didn't live there. so they're working to get a few more details from the family. at this point they have no suspect information, so that's something they're going to continue to work on. they do have a search warrant, or at least working on their investigation. because of that, they will have this area closed off for quite some time. we're just getting here, so we're going to try to get more details and bring that to you throughout the show. live in brighton, shawn chitness, cbs4 morning news. thanks, shawn. let's go to castle rock with breaking news. more than two dozen families are now allowed back home after explosive materials were found in the plum creek neighborhood. jamie leary is live there this

forced to evacuate yesterday. allowed to return home this morning. this is the home behind me where the explosive devices and chemicals were found. you can still see the hazmat bags piled in the driveway next to hazmat bins. it's still taped off. it's been quiet this morning. those residents who were evacuated yesterday told they can come back at 5:00 this morning. investigators say the evacuation was necessary so they could detonate the devices found. take a >> reporter: authorities found what they described as volatile chemicals inside of this home. the explosive devices, those were detonated in a hole on the golf course that butts up to the homes. they were discovered after the arrest of two teenage boys monday morning. their arrests were unrelated to the chemicals found in one of their homes. the police chief said there have been a number of car break-

the two teens were acting suspicious and arrested. when police couldn't get a hold of their parents they went to one of their homes. what they discovered inside required an all hands on deck response. >> while the officers were in the home here in castle rock, officers observed some suspicious concerning chemicals. in my time here i've not seen this level from a juvenile. >> reporter: now, those two teens, they're in custody on charges unrelated to what was found inside of this home. more charges could come later. we're told their parents are currently cooperating. live in castle rock, jamie leary, cbs4 morning news. thank you. this morning we are watching breaking news out of baltimore. here's a live look at what is happening there. clearly there has been a terrible crash involving a school bus and what we feel is a city bus there in baltimore. we're not sure about the

students were injured on that school bus. we are watching this. there you can see it looks like it was almost a t bone that happened and the front of the school bus is smashed there. >> it's accordioned into that other bus. there are some injuries. but who is injured, how many, oftentimes the school buses are in transit without students. we're hoping that was the case. but at least the driver was there. we'll update you as soon as we that's in baltimore this morning. >> we are getting one report just in that people may have died in this crash. we'll continue to follow it and we'll bring any updates here. two children and one adult are dead in a crash involving a trailer pulling people for halloween in mississippi. several others were injured when a vehicle struck the flat bed trailer and the three people killed in the crash are related. two died at the scene. the other died waiting for a police helicopter.

the crash took place in the town of chunky, about 80 miles west of jackson, mississippi. want to turn to weather and traffic now, this first day of november, after an awesome october. here's ashton. >> yes indeed. we tied for the second warmest october on record. now temperatures it start november are on the warm side. perhaps no surprise we're starting the new month similar to the way we finished the last one. city park at 6. the north. especially compared to yesterday at this time. boulder is 17 degrees colder. erie is 20 degrees colder now than we were on monday morning. you will notice the chill this morning at the bus stop 47. to put that into perspective, we're normally around 30 at the bus stop this time of year. again, it's cooler, but still far above normal. that's really going to be the trend for today. we'll top out at 67 degrees, or more than 10 degrees below where we were yesterday. still about 10 degrees above

traffic. here's joel. pretty good drive across the denver metro area. getting cones out of the way, southbound coming into town looking a lot better. nice and wide open. that will return us to posted speed limits. still speeds in the 30s, just as you get that accordion effect, backup through there. 50s and 60s now. ten minutes from thornton to denver. drive along i-70, you get along i-225 and i-70 looking great as well. drive times from the east, and alan, excellent speeds, southbound the 60s. eastbound along i-70 as well. thanks, joel. a denver woman is charged with attempted murder in north dakota accused of firing shots at police while protesting the pipeline. they're opposed to $3.7 billion pipeline that would move crude oil through four states across what many consider is sacred land. investigators say 37-year-old red off and on fallis fired three shots at deputies last week. she missed and the deputy did

has been arrested at that protest. chelsea clinton comes to colorado today to campaign for her mother. hillary clinton will be in florida as the fbi plans to examine thousands of her e- mails. meanwhile, republican donald trump continues to blast the clinton campaign over those e- mails. our hena daniels picks it up from here. >> reporter: hillary clinton crisscrossed ohio monday, trying to put the no objection back on donald trump. >> i want you to say, i voted for a better, fairer, stronger america. >> reporter: yesterday fbi agents began scrubbing through what could be hundreds of thousands of e-mails belonging to top clinton aide, huma abedin, searching for messages that came from clinton or may contain classified information. the e-mails were found on abedin's estranged husband anthony weiner's laptop. >> this is no case here.

and they confirm healthy lifestyle changes including diet and exercise are still best for treatment and prevention. and social media could extend your life according to some researchers. a new study at the university of california san diego found moderate use of social media like facebook is associated with living longer. they do stress the activities should maintain and enhance interactions offline. a explosion still burning this morning in eastern alabama. one person dead. it led to evacuations and our hena daniels tells us how that blast could have a lingering impact economically. >> reporter: colonial pipeline has shut down two of its main gas lines and shelby county, alabama sits under black smoke. monday crews using heavy equipment hit a petroleum pipeline, igniting gas and causing a massive explosion.

said he seen a big smoke cloud. he thought it was a plane crash. i just jumped in my truck and drove down and we seen the cloud from right in chelsea, and i thought it was pretty serious at that point, so we rushed over here. >> reporter: the blast sent flames soaring into the air. houses around the scene were evacuated. >> i'm told that what will happen is we'll have to let the fuel burn. >> reporter: the blast site is not far from where to fuel shortages and gas prices spikes in several southern states. >> this, with now two lines being shut down, could have a ripple effect further into the northeast, thinking new england, and perhaps as far as canada as well. >> reporter: hena daniels, cbs news. >> in the september break, the pipeline leaked around 300,000 gallons of gasoline. colonial is responsible for supplying about one-third of the gas used on the east coast

minutes on the 4s. >> good morning, britt. hi, alan. good tuesday morning, everybody. welcome to november. it is a mild start to the new day and new month. we're at 45. yes, it's cool, but compared to where we're normally at, we'll call it mild. it was nice even in the mountains yesterday. that was up at estes park. no snow there. johnson reservoir in littleton, kind of a spooky scene. thanks for sending that in bells on halloween, john newbury capturing this shot. this is me with my son aden, trick or treating for the first time, cookie monster, a happy halloween with him yesterday. 20s and 30s in the mountains. 30s, 40s on the eastern plains. temperatures will be in the 60s later on today. about 10 degrees, 10 to 15 degrees cooler than yesterday.

state. we have a cold front that's come through. it's a pretty weak front. again, it's responsible for our 10-degree drop today. behind the front an upper level system won't actually move into colorado. instead it will hang out to the west of us. it will get close enough to produce a knew rain and -- few rain and snow showers in the mountains. a few rain and snow showers for the high country, any snow limited to areas above 10,000 feet. any accumulation should be just an inch or two, if that. we'll watch around midnight tonight. could be a bit of a surge of snow around that time. nothing that will cause major travel disruptions. 9:00in the morning could be a few snow showers. 67 the high today. partly cloudy. tomorrow 60, and upper sixties, close to 70 for the end of the week. a small chance for rain saturday. that's a look at your weather. we want to get a check on the traffic. absolutely. take a look at the drive as you

we've got ramp restrictions in place, they've been picked up and out of the way. they'll be back in place tonight. southbound coming into town, returning to speeds. cones out of the way. now we're seeing 9 minutes from 120th out to i-70. here's our cbs4 mousetrap cam down into town, it's starting to load up a little bit as you make your way into town. this is nothing that will slow you down too bad. across the denver metro area, we've got volume. green means posted speed limits. starting today drivers can expect delays on i-70 and georgetown. crews will be doing rock fall mitigation work. could delay up to two hours. normally the delay is 20 minutes. they'll be stopping traffic about 20 minutes. but with all that traffic going on and few other options to get around that, the delays could last up to as long as 2 hours. joel, thank you so much.

this breaking news we're watching out of baltimore, because this crash is terrible, tying up traffic. we understand this is now a deadly accident. it's kind of far away now, but when we zoom in a little bit you can see a school bus has crashed into a city bus there. no word yet whether students were on board the bus. >> earlier it looked like it was a t bone type of accident. there you can see it's in just a straight-away practically on the road, and it's odd that th there. earlier we saw the school bus is basically accordioned into that other bus. there are three deaths. we don't know if those are students or not. we don't even know if there were students on that yellow bus. we're going to follow this. we're working on any updates on what's happened here in baltimore this morning. here is a clear example of how bad distracted driving can

in august. the driver of a tractor-trailer is seen using his phone before he crashed into several cars. four people died, including three children there. a british court has now sentenced that truck driver to 10 years in prison. a week from today five more states will be voting on whether to legalize recreational marijuana. colorado seems to be a model for how other states are dealing with this and depending on what side you fall on the marijuana issue, our salinger tells us it's either a disaster or a great success. >> reporter: familiar colorado faces playing on arizona tv. >> colorado now leads the nation in the teen use of marijuana. >> we were promised new money for education. instead, that money has gone to marijuana regulation. >> reporter: but one of those who helped bring legalized pot
