for school and it's all gone now. a home condemned 24 hours after hazmat crews set off an explosive device near the backyard and now the fire department has returned to the home. jeff todd is covering the story since it broke yesterday. jeff, shaping up as a complex investigation.>> reporter: the firefighters were back out at this home to let the residence here actually get some of their hard to believe all of this started with two teenagers being arrested on an unrelated case that brought police to this house. the bomb squad, federal agents, and now neighbors had been evacuated, the residents of this home are not. about 50 residents came to hear the latest on the investigation.>> we are confident everything has been accounted for . >> reporter: many wanted to

the home, however there are chemicals still left in the home . >> reporter: -->> reporter: glass speakers up to jugs of chemicals. >> they were illegally -- they were legally purchased but combined it becomes an issue. >> reporter: the home has been condemned and will be livable until the owners pay a company to remediate what is still inside. firefighters will have to be on hand anytime someone goes back in are in open containers, close containers, half-empty, half- full. >> reporter: the parents have been cooperating. the police chief says he believes the parents knew of the chemicals but didn't know the danger.>> my hope is that parents pay close attention to what their kids are dabbling in and learning about and requests for this that or the other.

he didn't think this case reached a high enough level to charge these teenagers as adults. the da also said that he believed that this was just a different case and with those juvenile charges, he said that is really for remediation, not punishment. we do expect the teenagers to be charged on thursday. jeff todd, cbs 4 news. new at 10:00, the election is really heating up and not necessarily in a good way. a denver man his trump banner on fire. the fire and burning his fence and his yard. stan bush spoke with the homeowner, who is eager for whoever set this fire to get caught . >> reporter: he has got a new yard sign up. this one is promising a reward for any information that leads to the arsonist. the homeowner says he is not surprised this happened because both candidates in the election this year are extremely controversial and it's something that has been

visits at www.cbsdenver.com students and teachers are out of luck, out of money and out of patience. a popular for-profit college in denver suddenly shut down today. lauren dispirito caught up with some students at the heritage college campus. one told you she cried over the news . >> reporter: several students were very emotional. they even attended class here today but say they weren't given any indication about what was about to now they're only official communication with the school is this note on the door. with just weeks to go until graduation, students at heritage college in denver suddenly have no idea whether they will receive the certificates they have earned and paid for. >> i was crying. i didn't know what to do. i'm a single mom. i put work aside to come to school . >> reporter: women studying to become aestheticians gathered on tuesday.

-go to school for over a year to have the rug pulled from underneath me . >> reporter: a note posted to the college's doors stating "heritage does not have enough cash to keep operating." it cites declining enrollment as the reason for the closure. this teacher says she was told not to expect the full amount owed in her last paycheck. >> i don't understand how somebody could do that . >> reporter: another student upfront when she enrolled two weeks ago. no one indicated then at the school might shutdown. >> i paid all the money that i had for school and it's all gone now. >> reporter: the note also indicates that the school is not just shut down in denver but has closed all campuses across the country. lauren dispirito cbs 4 news. we have an update on the murder investigation we have been following since the weekend.

industrial area near 47th and kingston in denver. police have now arrested the boyfriend, josi vallejo k no -- cano. a woman killed in a hit and run this weekend was a successful attorney. she was hit near 13th and live tonight and friends and coworkers are remembering her tonight.>> reporter: kerron, they say she was nothing short of inspiring. witnesses say she was crossing the street here at this intersection when she was killed. the driver who hit her just took off. just before 2:00 on sunday morning, 28-year-old karina pulock, walking with her boyfriend near 13th and broadway, was hit by a hit and run driver.

>> it's just a very sad and tragic loss . >> reporter: she worked as an attorney here in denver. firm's managing partner says after graduating from cornell, she moved to california and had only recently moved to colorado to be closer to family. >> she was a lovely young woman. she had great intelligence, great poise. she was very well liked by everyone who worked with her. >> reporter: police say the suspect vehicle, a white pickup truck, was found within the hour a the suspect and anyone else who may have been inside were gone. finnegan says while he is confident police will find those responsible, his hope is that the focus will be on the amazing young woman whose life was taken to soon. >> that is who is lost in that moment. not only was her life lost and ruined but a lot of other

there are new details about the gun battle that ended in an eight day -- ended in a day manhunt. this was the law's final deadly encounter with killer michael vance. dash cam video shows the trooper driving and firing his rifle as he chased murderer michael vance sunday night. chase from above, showing michael vance barreling through a checkpoint. he eventually got out of his truck and used that as a shield. armed with an ak-47, he continued firing at police and tell he was shot and killed. michael vance was on the run longer than a week. he stabbed his aunt and uncle to death and later shot and wounded two police officers. he even taunted investigators on facebook during his time on the run.>> what's up y'all?

this is a real [ bleep ] gun. >> a relative believes michael vance was out for revenge. he was accused of sexually assaulting a child. the relative thinks that's why michael vance snapped. the latest on a bus crash. this morning in baltimore maryland, investigators say a school bus rear-ended a car and bounced off a concrete pillar before slamming into a transit bus. no students were on that school bus driver died people on the transit bus. investigators believe the bus driver may have had a medical emergency. the coroner will determine that. denver city council will vote on a controversial topic this month. a proposal wants to require single stall restrooms to be gender-neutral. signs saying men or women would be gone. the goal would be to make restrooms more accessible and cut down on wait times for everyone. councilmember john clark says small businesses would benefit.

a lot of businesses aren't doing that to better serve their patrons. they are saying this is just a toilet, anyone can go in. that is technically against the rules. >> it does not affect multi- stall bathrooms which would remain gender specific. a woman who gave birth to a hospital parking lot got billed for the delivery room she never used. this happened in boca raton, florida. the price tag thomas $7000. >> i knew i was responsible for i get it. i'm going to pay the bill. that's not the issue. the issue is i look at this delivery charge and i think that's a little outrageous.>> the hospital is not commenting right now. she says she will pay the bill even though it says the baby was delivered in her car prior to arrival. >> did they charge for the parking spot i wonder? this is a new video gamers have been waiting for.
