the forecast. good morning. >> good morning. certainly will be the coolest day this week. to put things into perspective, we'll still reach into the lower 60s this afternoon, which is above normal for november. it's just not going to be as warm as it has been recently. we just mentioned the snow. it is coming down in clear creek county, eagle county. we'll have your full forecast coming up. now let's get a check on traffic with joel. we're watching out to the eisenhower johnson tunnels, fresh snow roadways, causing chain and passenger restrictions in place. they're in place from eisenhower up to over vail pass. thanks a lot. breaking news out of iowa. a police sergeant in des moines says there is clearly danger for police officers right now after two officers were shot and killed in ambush style attacks as you slept. they were shot 20 minutes apart, only a few miles apart.

both sitting in their patrol cars when they were shot. police in that area are on edge. they have yet to release any suspect information. they may not know. we are watching for all developments on this big story. moments ago we learned police in des moines are now pairing up their officers. nobody goes out alone. a popular for profit college shuts down leaving students upset about money wasted. signs at heritage college say the school is out our shawn chitness is live at the campus with the latest on chapped out there. good morning, shawn. >> reporter: britt, good morning. we can still see those notices up on the doors behind me here. for some students that was the only way they were going to find out the school was closing, and they are so upset they're planning to gather outside of the building in a few hours to voice their anger at what's happening. this notice coming out just as some students were in school

graduate. this for profit school offers programs in health related jobs. the college says they're permanently closing their doors. the note says they don't have enough money to keep operating. students attending class yesterday morning had no idea about the plan to shut down later that day and they don't know if they'll get their certificates they've earned and paid for. even teachers say they were told only es were signs the school was running out of cash and couldn't afford basic school supplies. >> i'm really upset. i don't know what's going to happen. i didn't go to school over a year to have the rug pulled from underneath me like this. >> reporter: just one of the many students that is very upset, understandably by this. some of them spending as much as $16,000. we reached out to the school that has offices in denver, but

country. live in denver, shawn chitness, cbs4 morning news. thanks a lot. with less than a week to go until the election the campaigns are putting the focus now on colorado. chelsea clintons spends another day in our state to boost support for her mother today. she'll visit a campaign office in boulder after spending time last night in aurora. for the republicans vice presidential candidate mike pence will be at a rally at the larimer county fairgrounds evening. today hillary clinton will be in arizona and nevada and trump will be in florida. >> reporter: hillary clinton capped a tour in florida pushing back at protestors. while trying to keep the focus on rival donald trump. >> he does not respected women. >> reporter: campaigning with former miss universe alicia

states. clinton's campaign countered with six figure ad buys in colorado, virginia, michigan and new mexico, insisting it's because they have money to burn. hena daniels, cbs news. if you're just now waking up, let's get a check on weather and traffic this wednesday morning. >> good morning to you, britt. good morning, everybody. doppler 4000 is showing some rain and snow in the colorado high country. i want to zoom in here to the i- 70 corridor. starting around idaho springs approach to the eisenhower and johnson tunnels, snow coming down. most of clear creek county is covered with snow now. little bit farther out to the west you can see that snow over parts of summit county as well. snow levels relatively high. around 9500 feet to 10,000 feet. it's only the higher elevations will see it. mountain towns will not see snow. arvada 44 now. greenwood village at 45. at the bus stop this morning, about 40 degrees. cooler than it was yesterday.

let's get a check on the traffic, including i-70 in the mountains. here's joel. we're watching up into the high country and ashton, look at these pictures. low visibility. you have the tracks of the tires in that fallen snow from the eisenhower tunnel to vail pass. passenger traction restrictions in place. no restrictions along u.s. 6 over loveland pass, though. across the abandoned car in the eastbound direction of i-70 and sheridan. it's blocking off the shoulder, not causing delays. a pretty bad accident traveling along speer at 13th. that has closed off three lanes there. joel, thank you so much. you may have noticed social media is playing a big part in the election process. from people voicing their opinions to taking selfies when they probably shouldn't be. singer justin timberlake recently did something that

this is the selfie justin timberlake now regrets. he took a picture to document his vote while back in his home state of tennessee. unfortunately, taking photos of video inside polling stations is illegal in tennessee and here in colorado. today a federal judge will hear arguments for and against these ballot selfies. the colorado law banning anyone from publishing their ballot choices has been on the books since it passed in 91 and violates citizens' rights of free speech. on october 20th, colorado's district attorney reminded people it's unlawful to send out the pights on speed -- pictures on social media.

urging a quick investigation to make sure that the club was safe. there are questions about fire procedures. korean state media outlet reported a guard said the fire started in a sign board and the staff could not put it out. some women who are trying to have a baby suffer from ptsd. a new study finds women may be at risk for ptsd following a miscarriage or a pregnancy where the baby grows outside of the womb an be terminated. british researchers say four out of 10 women in the study met the criteria for ptsd, including reexperiencing their pregnancy loss, nightmares, even flashbacks. new research finds not getting enough sleep may cause meme to eat more the next day. doctors looked at 11 previous studies and found sleep deprived people consumed an average of 385 extra calories the following day, much of it

i know, i always turn for the chocolate. >> it's a backup. and there's plenty of chocolate around this week. ashton, still eating the kid's candy? my son is only 18 months old and i have to eat his candy. that's my excuse. we're looking live along i-70 at the eisenhower tunnel. yes, that is snow on the ground. a sight we have not seen very often so far this season. the snow will be limited to the higher peaks and passes in the mountains. here along the front range completely dry today. sunrise 7:30. 45 degrees over at elitch gardens this morning. it's 44 in brighton. 43 in lakewood. 44 in erie. pretty consistent with temperatures. we're about as chilly as we were yesterday morning. if you really notice the chill yesterday, you're going to notice it again today. these temperatures aren't bad for early november. we should be waking up to a temperature around 31. instead, that's where leadville is this morning. 31 degrees there.

relatively small area of precipitation in the high country which is right there along the i-70 corridor. we could pick up an inch or two of snow above about 9500 feet. there's certainly not going to be a ton of snow in the mountains. this is not a major snowstorm. we should get a break from the precipitation later on in the high country. then it will likely pick back up. as cbs4 news at 5:00 tonight is starting, we should see snow along i-70 and towards vail pass. then tonight mostly clear skies. it will be a cold night to of year. we'll drop to around 36 degrees for tomorrow morning after a high of 60 today. it is our cool day of the week, because tomorrow afternoon we go back up to 68. friday 70. and for the weekend highs in the 60s, with a small chance for seeing rain on saturday. let's get a check on the traffic, including the latest on the chain controls. here's joel. we've got chain and passenger traction restrictions in place. this is why. this is the eisenhower and johnson tunnels.

standing snow that's there. as it circulates to the other camera, if you're pulling off, yeah, it's a lot of snow out there. and that's why these chain and passenger traction restrictions are in place. couple of accidents. looks like the situation is improving. it is degrading a little bit from bailey to fair play. watch along 285 and from conifer you can see ice as well. across the denver metro area in town starting to see a little more volume as the morning mm down. southbound coming into town, speeds that are into the 60s. still seeing speeds into the 50s and 60s as you make your way both directions through commerce city. workers are struggling to reopen the colonial pipeline in alabama after a big explosion and fire. it moves fuel to millions of people in the south and parts of the east coast. our hena daniels shows us how monday's explosion is already backing driver -- impacting

fuel shortage and a spike in gas prices is already settling in across the southeast. >> this is the second car i've filled up today. >> reporter: the deadly blast monday shut down a vital gas line that provides fuel to millions, strepping from the gulf coast to new england. colonial pipeline says while one of their two lines is up and running, the other could be shut down until the weekend. >> this could quickly become a weeks instead of several days and could be much worse than september. >> reporter: in september more than 250,000 gallons of gasoline leaked from the same pipeline. now many are gearing up for round two. >> people going crazy in line down the street. last time we didn't get a delivery for three days. people were fighting over here over gas. i hope it doesn't go that crazy. >> reporter: a piece of equipment hit the pipeline
