been in the morning recently. we'll check the temperatures and have your fiveday4cast. joel. we're watching an accident southbound along wadsworth. it's shut it down at independence. live pictures coming in from copter four. two u.s. service members dead, two others hurt after fighting the taliban in northern afghanistan. nato made the announcement overnight. leaders say the service members came under heavy fire during what they call a train, mission. this happened in the kunduz providence. afghan police say 16 civilians also died. here at home this is new for us, a state trooper survives a wild chase on i-70, but things could have been a lot worse. our jamie leary joins us live from the state patrol office in golden with the story. i understand it was a teenager behind the wheel. >> reporter: yeah, that much we do know. we're still waiting to learn

was so desperate to avoid arrest that he intentionally slammed into a state patroller's car, using what police call an amateur pit maneuver. it started before 11:00 last night. a georgetown police officer says he clocked the teen going 110 miles per hour as he flew past him headed east on i-70. the teen was slowed by traffic and pulled over by the officer. he was off again without warning. the chase started again with speeds up to 110 miles per hour. then the police officer called it off. the driver rammed his car into an unsuspecting police cruiser. the teen trying to run away. he was slowed by his injuries and taken into custody.

that miraculously ended only with minor injuries. >> the nature of what's happening in the world and people thinking it's safe to flee from the police, the driver suffered injuries. could have been much more serious. the trooper could have suffered much more serious injuries when he didn't even know he was involved in the pursuit at the time. >> reporter: the trooper fortunately was checked out on scene and he was cleared uninjured. the suspect was taken into custody and taken to the hospital where he was treated for his inri warrants out for his arrest. the investigation continues this morning. live in golden, jamie leary, cbs4 news. thank you. this is new from overnight, a driver hits and seriously injuries a man in a wheelchair in denver. it happened near colfax and franklin. medics took the injured man to the hospital and the driver did stay at the scene. fight over taking selfies with your ballots not over in

court this morning in denver. the law is to prevent voter coercion and the buying and selling of votes. critics claim the law interferes with free speech. attorneys representing the state argue there is no need to block a law that bans ballot selfies, because it's really not enforced. today donald trump and hillary clinton focus on the battleground states of florida, north carolina and pennsylvania, and this is all part of a final push with only five days left until the >> imagine having a president who demeans women, mocks the disables, insults latinos, african-americans, muslims, p.o.w.'s. >> no side tracks, donald, nice and easy. because i've been watching hillary the last few days. she's totally unhingeed. we don't want any of that. she has become unhingeed.

paint on their black lives matter sign. now, the stains from last year in 2015 when this happened are still present today, even though they organized a team to clean up the paint last year. but this time leaders say it might be more meaningful to leave the sign the way it is, serving as a reminder of the challenge they face. detectives worry about finding out who is responsible since there isn't su will, or spiritual stance on the black lives matter has infuriated someone to the point where they feel like they have to vandalize our building in the middle of the night and run away. >> reporter: we also reached out to the local chapter of black lives matter. they said they're not ready yet to comment on this latest incident. live in denver, shawn chitness,

investigators in iowa trying to figure out what motivated the man they blame for the killings of two police officer yesterday. police believe scott greene used a rifle yesterday to kill the two officers. greene turned himself in after the crime. he's white, and has a history of confrontations with police, including over issues with race. the fbi has opened a civil rights investigation into church in mississippi. someone also spray painted the phrase, vote trump on the side of that church. the mayor of greenville calls the fire and graffiti a heinous, hateful and cowardly act. the pastor said the church had not made any political statements and they don't know why they were targeted there. rtd is going to have more time to iron out problems with the a line. the federal railroad

this is the rain that caused that delay for game seven yesterday in cleveland. as we zoom in closer, this moisture over arizona, new mexico and west texas will move north thanks to this low pressure system that's currently near tucson. the low will be near the four corners region by this time tomorrow. it will weaken as it moves north, but it will spread moisture across our state, moisture we need. mountains light rain and light snow from tomorrow night through saturday. 2to 4 inches expected think we'll see much in terms of rain. springs to pueblo and trinidad, good chance of seeing beneficial rain there. that will be saturday. our rain chance here is small. today and tomorrow completely dry. small rain chance saturday followed by sunny skies on sunday. let's get a check on the traffic. here's joel. good morning. from copter 4 we're loaded up out there. it's so dark this time of day, i-70, i-225, and you can see

northbound along i-225 onto i- 70. loads up typically this time of day. i like to look at this and match up the cars who have paid to head southbound into town and those riding for free in the left lane. i think it's a good deal to stay in the left lane. southbound coming into town, 11 minutes from 120th to i-70. slow both directions along i- 270 through commerce city. westbound along i-76 we are seeing a little bit there. eastbound along i-270, and especially southbound along i- 225. northbound coming into town not too bad. c-470 nice and wide open. drive times, southbound as you make your way along i-225 from parker road out to i-25, that's 12 minutes with speeds into the teens. thanks, joel. new report out from the cdc shows the effort to get more americans insured could stall this year. the study suggests president obama's health care law may be
