,, f0 hi, everybody. it's friday. welcome to the cbs4 morning news, november 4th. i'm alan gionet. we are four days away. coverage for you. i'm britt moreno. it's friday. let's get over to ashton figure out what the friday forecast looks like. we need the moisture, but it will be a beautiful day. fantastic day on the way. temperatures now in the 40s all around town, with the exception of the north side of town where it is colder, thornton and erie close to freezing. as we zoom out i want to show you clouds to the south near trinidad. those are the initial clouds

and arizona now. you can see it spinning down here between albuquerque and phoenix. that's the system that will bring snow to the high country starting tonight and small chance for denver and the front range coming up tomorrow. not today. at lunchtime, 65. and how about 71 for the high temperature. we'll take it. will be a beautiful day. we'll check the detailed weekend forecast coming up, but let's check traffic. we have ongoing construction at the lights, that slows things down when you you have stuff going on in the median there. watch out for that. there are no lane closures now in place. we have an accident at i-70 and i-225 not causing delays. a lot of green around there. c-470 south of 285 now out to ken caryl, continuing the paving operations and that's why we're seeing slowing.

former president bill clinton is going to be in denver, pueblo and fort collins. ben carson will be here campaigning for donald trump. it is a sign colorado is yet again a key battleground state. new cbs news "new york times" poll out yesterday shows hillary clinton leading donald trump nationally by 3 points. here's our hena daniels with the latest on the campaign. >> we are standing against the possibility of returning and normalizing discrimination. >> reporter: hillary clinton courted voters in the crucial state of north carolina last night. alongside former rival bernie sanders. >> we're voting for the most powerful leader in the entire world. >> reporter: ferrell williams provided star power as the race between heightens.

an anonymous source tells cbs4 that beyonce will be at a get out the vote event in cleveland tonight. we're learning about a woman being held captive found in north carolina. kayla brown and her boyfriend, missing in august. a tip led investigators to a storage container in south carolina. it's where they found brown. >> it was pretty emotional to say the least, when she was found, especially when she was chained like a dog. >> police are still searching

boyfriend is still missing. a man pointed a laser at copter 4 is in custody. police arrested kenneth carol who apologized and told us he never meant harm. two other pilots reported lasers pointed at them in centennial and greeley and one was a commercial aircraft. it is agt priceless items from fallen soldiers could be gone forever. our jeff todd has the story of a stolen truck, a high speed chase and the damage it caused for a veterans organization. >> happened in the middle of the night and we didn't realize it. >> reporter: her truck looked like this before it was stolen. >> it's sentimental to us. >> reporter: the items belonged to boots route 66.

that came from the actual military personnel that were killed in iraq or afghanistan that the family had donated to us and those are priceless. >> reporter: this is a recent ceremony boots 66 had to honor lance corporal brandon pearson who died four years ago in afghanistan. so far it's not known where the about thes or hundreds -- boots or hundreds of american flags and other memorabilia are, because the truck they were in is still being evidence. >> it killed us to lose our truck. but it killed us even more that the possessions he had in there. there's pictures of fallen heros in there. >> reporter: the suspects used the car parts to throw at troopers and deputies during a high speed chase. it could be months before her totaled truck is returned. >> it's the stuff from the

heart disease than those with no worries. a team from georgetown university says using graphic pictures on cigarette packs would greatly reduce deaths from smoking. the researchers who led this study say pictures could prevent more than 650,000 deaths over the next 50 years. they say pictures would reduce the number of infants with low birth weights and preterm births. research conducted at ohio state university finds tear the acl in your knee your brain needs to be retained. researchers found parts of the brain associated with leg movement laged during recovery from an acl injury and patients instead relied more on visual systems. >> how connected are we? there's something that shows you there. ashton, good morning. let's take a look at the weekend. let's do it. good morning, happy friday. yesterday the weekly drought status monitor came out and as

we went from 65% of colorado being under some stage of drought to more than 90% of colorado being under some stage of drought. more than a quarter of the state is experiencing moderate drought, including the entire denver metro area. we need rain and we have one small chance for seeing rain in the metro area coming up this weekend. it will be tomorrow. but the chance, unfortunately, is pretty small. higher rain chances in southern colorado where they need the rain just as much, but it would be nice to get some in our part of theat temperatures in the 20s for most mountain towns. 40s the western slope. 30s on the eastern plains. greeley is colder, 27 degrees in greeley right now there in weld county. bundle up as you're heading out the door. this afternoon will be pleasant. pretty much state-wide. with the exception of the san juans, we're going to see temperatures topping out in the 50s and 60s from most high country locations and denver area around 70. i mentioned the san juans because we're seeing moisture already move in from the south.

it's sitting along the arizona/new mexico state line. we'll start our futurecast at 9:00 a.m. a few snowflakes in san juan county, and it really ramps up in the southwest part of the state as we get into this evening. rain for durango and pagosa springs. here's 9:00 a.m. tomorrow, most of the moisture still in that part of the the day tomorrow moisture will try to move farther to the north. central mountains could see up to 3 inches of snow, including stretches of i-70 tomorrow. meanwhile, rain for pueblo and trinidad. maybe colorado springs. slight chance for shower in for denver tomorrow. fort collins, greeley i'm afraid that rain chance is near zero for you. today will be beautiful, 71. upper 60s close to 70 for the weekend as we move our clocks

early next week, highs in the lower 60s and dry conditions. no excuse not to vote. i-25 and arapahoe road this morning, this is what we've been watching the construction. they have all this stuff up in the median, that can be distracting. with the barrier that close to the left lane that typically will slow things down. just keep that in mind as you're traveling through the tech center. now at or near posted speed limits southbound along i-225, i-270, all a similar situation the one spot we watch along c- 470 from bowles to ken caryl. both directions on going road work there. the drive times now, southbound along i-225 we have speeds into the mid-60s. thanks, joel. health, legal and employment resources all things the homeless community often cannot access. look at that, homeless out

night in colorado springs in august. >> marissa took the impact and broke almost every bone from her neck up. >> reporter: marissa was in a coma. doctors could not assure her parents whether she would ever wake up. but the 10-year-old fought and several weeks later she did. now class is back in session. >> the team here absolutely saved her. >> reporter: marissa is blind in one eye. she had to relearn how to chew, swallow and speak. >> >> reporter: jody crouse is an education specialist in brain injury. >> there are kids who are so gravely sick, and for those kids the teachers go to them and hold class in their hospital rooms. >> they're leaving here much different than the way they came in. >> reporter: marissa knows she can depend on her hospital teacher's support even after she leaves. >> excited.
