bring you from overnight. cbs news has learned about a potential terror threat for monday. sources say u.s. intelligence has information that al-qaida could be planning attacks in new york, texas and virginia, all possible targets, although no specific locations were mentioned. the sources stress the intelligence is still being assessed and it's ib counterterrorism officials were alerted to the threat out of an abundance of caution. election day is now in our days -- four days away. colorado is still a big focus in the race. donald trump and hillary clinton surrogates will be here today hoping to sway undecided voters. cbs4's jamie leary live at the capitol now. she has a look at who is coming to down. >> reporter: colorado is rocking as a swing state.

this morning both parties will be pushing to sway those undecided voters. bill clinton, he's going to be campaigning for his wife this morning in pueblo, followed by afternoon events in denver and fort collins. also set to make three stops in colorado today is former presidential candidate dr. ben carson. his first scheduled stop is in colorado springs. he will then head to castle rock, capping off his day with an appearance in aurora. the rush for the last minu face time visits in colorado comes as most recent polls show the race tightening here. a poll released wednesday shows clinton and trump basically in a dead heat. if you had any doubt, the fact that both bill clinton and ben carson have scheduled a busy three-stop tour is yet another sign colorado is in fact a crucial swing state in this election. also taking part in a last minute campaign push is senator bernie sanders. he'll be rallying for hillary

reaction from the party headquarters, that starts at 7:00 on channel 12. we'll also be streaming all this live at cbsdenver.com. 28 years in prison for a rape in denver he says he did not commit. today a denver court picks up the case again. so far the prosecutor is pursuing another trial rather than dropping the case. but that could still happen. moses walked out of prison last year. that came after another inmate came forward saying he was the one responsi in the 1980s. moses raised money during his time in prison for a dna test. d.a.'s office has yet to reconnect -- has had to reconnect for witnesses from years ago ahead of that new trial. the woman who was reached originally said moses' identity came to her in a dream. weather and traffic every 10 minutes on the 4s.

open. right now is where we start to see more volume. if they can get that cleared in the next half hour shouldn't be an issue for the morning commute. that guy needs a new headlight. you can see green, which means at or near posted speed limits either side of that accident. another side street accident, pierce and mississippi. nine minutes from thornton to er koa newsradio for the latest traffic and cbs4 weather. thank you. a woman is safe this morning after spending two months inside a storage container in south carolina. officers found this woman with a chain wrapped around her neck. her boyfriend is still missing. investigators say a tip led them to the 100-acre property of registered sex offender todd

from inside the container and they found kayla brown on the property, located about 80 miles northwest of columbia. >> it was pretty emotional to say the least when she was found, especially when she was chained like a dog. she had a chain around her neck. >> brown told investigators she was kept in the locked 15-foot metal box for two months and fed regularly. she also alerted them to the possibility of more bodies on the property, kohlhepp is in custody and police hope to find her missing boyfriend, charles carver. update on the search for the body of a 15-month-old boy believed to be in a landfill in ault. there has been no sign of the body so far. the mother's boyfriend, logan rogers, told authorities the child hit his head and died.

reason to believe rogers dumped the boy's body in a trash bin in wyoming, which was taken to that landfill here in colorado. he is facing charges of reckless child endangerment and involuntary manslaughter as well. investigators say they're still trying to talk with the boy's mother. a man accused of illegally selling puppies in westminster is on the run this morning. >> how old is he? >> eight weeks. >> kayla brown shared this video. she said the man in it conned her into thin getting a healthy 8 week old pug. brown ended up with a sick dog, too young to be separated from the mother. >> he brings out this pug puppy that barely fit in my hand. i knew something was wrong. i'll never see that money again. it's that these animals need to be rescued. >> brown had a friend meet with the man again to record the

another young puppy. changes could be coming to the maroon bell snowmass wilderness area. overnight visits to the area's top 10 trails have more than doubled since 2007. the forest service is looking at outlining the number of groups that may be able to stay. it may put on overnight permit system in place. the service is asking for you to share your thoughts on for affordable housing in denver. the developers of the north field apartments will celebrate a grand opening today in stapleton. this is the first to open using denver's general revenue funds. it's at the corner of northfield and trenton. wasn't pretty, but the buffs got the job done last night, beating ucla. that game had 25 penalties combined, including personal

won't amount to much, but for the ski areas it's been cold enough in the mountains that they've been able to make a lot of snow. keystone opens up a week from today. loveland hopes to be open within the next week as well. 45 degrees at lookout mountain. yesterday 69 was the high. today we top out at 71. our normal high temperature in early november is 58. we will cool down a little bit today. still, at least 10 degrees above normal for this time of year. 39 now in akron. it's 22 in leadville. 26 in avon. you have to bundle up in the mountains. front range it's chilly for now, but mid- to late morning i'm not sure you'll even need a jacket. temperatures will be very pleasant later today with highs around 70 degrees. notice some cloud cover coming up from the south. mostly sunny skies.

this storm system that's along the new mexico/arizona state line. as that storm moves north it's going to bring quite a bit of snow to the san juan mountains. 3to 6 inches above 10,000 feet. this is midnight tonight through noon tomorrow a winter weather advisory. maybe an inch or two along the approaches to eisenhower and johnson tunnels, but that would be it. snow and rain a lot of it stays in the southern part of the state, including for colorado springs, pueblo and trinidad, where there will be rain tomorrow. denver northward chance for rain is slim. slight chance for tomorrow. sunday high 70 with sunshine. early next week highs in the lower 60s, including election day tuesday. traffic alert we're following, live pictures from copter 4. c-470 and bowles in the westbound direction. just to the west of bowles.

it was from amazon, apparently. police say he is connected to a string of mail thefts in the last few weeks. neighbors tell us the man has followed delivery trucks in the neighborhood just waiting for packages to be dropped off. there is a big old party today planned for chicago cubs' fans. thousands will line the streets of chicago for a victory parade. the cubs defeated the cleveland indians 8-7 in game seven of the world series. it is the team's first world take a look at a live look from wrigley field. already see people gathering there. the parade gets underway this morning. it will go through the historic ballpark area and winds downtown. get this, you know that big river in chicago, they're apparently dyeing it blue, much like they do on st. patrick's day, but in that case it's

adding to the last-minute pushes, bernie sanders will make two stops in colorado saturday. jamie leary, cbs4 morning news. police command officer has been disciplined for sending his gang unit officers home hours before their shift ended. a massive gang shootout erupted leaving one man dead while they were at home. this was late july. there was a hip-hop concert in lodo. the show's promoter warned denver police there were many lieutenant mcdaniel got the warning, but sent the entire gang unit home three hours early anyway. after the show violence erupted. hundreds of shots were faired. galen armstrong died in that gunfire. the department of public safety says the death might not have happened had there been a visible police presence. >> i think it was a mistake.

denver. crews are about to move the entire building to a new spot. copter 4 flew over its current address yesterday. that's at 13th and pearl street. teams are going to move it on sunday to 12th and bannock. the museum worked with historic preservation folks to make sure the move is a right thing. crews have been excavating the area beneath for tonight will be open for first friday as part of denver arts week. 40 west is an emerging art district along west colfax in lakewood. there are 20 galleries and studios in the district offering a wide variety of art mediums, including sculpture and fine arts. >> we do a lot of mural art and large scale art, sort of beautifying the community. >> five of the galleries will be open tonight for first friday.
