we start cbs4 news at 6:00 with breaking news. a crane crashes into a building under construction in denver. this is the scene at 42nd and pecos. the 12 story tall crane tipped over, tumbled right into the building. no one was hurt. we are also following more breaking news at this a nurse at cu hospital is accused of stealing painkillers meant for patients. kacye unruh replaced the drugs can saline or benadryl. >> reporter: the former nurse was arrested at her home yesterday after a federal grand jury indicted her.

stealing fentanyl and replacing the vials with saline. it happened between june 29th and july 12th of this year. the federal indictment lists 6 patients that were supposed to receive drug treatments that were stolen by unruh. in oklahoma she's accused of stealing fentanyl as well. unruh was fired from a there this spring. cu health says there's no evidence any patients were harmed. the hospital did reach out to what they say is less than 50 patients and recommend they get hepatitis c testing. tonight on cbs4 news at 10:00, why the hospital says they were still able to hire unruh. she's currently in federal custody. live in aurora, stan bush, cbs4

under arrest accused of assaulting a student. dylan hollingsworth is facing charges of assault. investigators say hollingsworth was angry after a student used profanity during a weight- lifting class. that's when he's accused of grabbing the student by the neck and kneeing him in the groin. the latest after the discovery dangerous chemicals in castle rock. two teens are in custody in the case. one is being held on a $1 million bond. a second 16 year old is being charged with two counts of sexual exploitation of a child and possession of a handgun. someone shot 50 year old john field while he was walking

weeks ago and police have only a few clues to go on. >> crimestoppers is offering a reward in this case. it happened in the baker neighborhood. andrea flores -- the family certainly wants justice. >> reporter: that, they do. friends and family often called john field the mayor of broadway. he grew up on this street and was well-liked by everyone in this baker neighborhood. today we spoke who lives right next door and watched the shooting unfold. >> he wanted to live. >> reporter: 50 year old john field lived in this baker neighborhood his entire life. but his sister debbie says one wrong move while walking his dog this summer cost him everything. >> he thought the car was going to hit his dog so he hit the car with a bottle. >> reporter: family members watched from a party across the

vehicle as a 2013 black camaro similar to the one you see here with tinted windows, dark rims and it may have some damage to the driver's side. if you have any information, crimestoppers asks that you give them a call. reporting live in denver, cbs4 news. we're learning new details in a case of a man accused in a hit-and-run. tyler white was going 134 zone when he caused a crash. one woman died. it was back on october 10th. white left the scene and was later found swimming in a city park. prosecutors charged him with 1st degree murder with extreme indifference. two teenagers will be charged as adults in the murder of a chef. nick lewis was shot to death

month. lewis was a popular chef at the black bird public house in denver. a motive for the shooting is unclear because all the court documents in this case remain sealed. vandals target donald trump's campaign office in denver. campaign staff worked to clean up as much of the graffiti as they could and a volunteer ended up coming by with his own power washer to clean it off. police still the vandals. steve barlock has his own idea of who is responsible. >> it's juvenile, childish and really just shows how hillary clinton's people are viewing this fight. they need to go to the lowest levels and attack. >> this is not the first time the office has been vandalized, but the people who work there say today's case much worse than the other times.

new developments right now in the case of a man released from prison nearly 30 years after being convicted of rape. jury selection underway in clarence moses-al. last year another inmate confessed to the crime. today a coalition of groups delivered petitions to the denver da demanding the new trial be called off. the da's office says the man who confessed to that rape later recanted. it will be up to a jury to decide his fate.

gets ready for their big new. the kirkland museum is going to move to the golden triangle on sunday. they will use 6 sets of remote control wheels to relocate the building. there will be closure in the area including bannock street between 12th and 13th. parks and wildlife says the chance of wildlife usually increases this time of year. matt joins us live tonight. matt, explain where the increase. >> reporter: with daylight saving time ending this weekend, more cars and more people are going to be on the road with wildlife at around dusk. and that's a big problem. >> moving into that time of year when all of it seems to be coming together.

colorado's wildlife and drivers. >> with the days getting shorter and daylight savings this weekend on top of that. the movement times for wildlife is starting to overlap with a lot of rush hour. >> reporter: thousands of animals are hit and killed every year from deer to bears and even moose. >> we've had half a dozen moose hit in this area this year. >> reporter: they are on the move. >> a lot of wildlife species, they move quite night. >> reporter: along this stretch of highway 9 north of silverthorn, wildlife and car collisions are now nearly nonexistent. it's because the state has built these overpasses and fencing. >> the problem is those projects are really expensive. they require a lot of support and collaboration. >> reporter: until funding for

west. you see a cold front draped over the southeast. lots of sunshine there as well. we have this system down here over the southwest. let's go to the colorado weather center with lauren whitney. >> reporter: that area of low pressure has been hanging over arizona for a while. it's going to swing into the southern part of the state. this is a chance maybe tomorrow we get a sprinkle or in denver. down in the san juans, there could be pretty heavy snowfall at times. mainly above 10,000 feet. let's take a look at our winder weather advisory. 4 to 8 inches in the san juans. near 10,000 feet. if you're drive nothing this area, be careful out there. some of these mountain passes could get sloppy. above 11,000 feet could see over a foot of snow.

4-1 last night. some coaches roll their eyes when you say positive things after a loss, but so far, he's been brutally honest about his team. he says last night's blow out wasn't actually as bad as it looked. >> start to finish, good effort. there was a handful of mistake that is cost us. we're not going to be celebrating losses, but at the end of the day, if we continue to play like that, clean up to bury a chance or two, that's what we have to do. we'll look at our offensive chances. i also consider it my job to keep everybody up to date on the latest fads in america.

live, from colorado's news channel, this is cbs4 news at 6:30. >> just days before the election, cbs news has learned of a potential terror threat. >> al-qaeda could be planning an attack in three monday. >> reporter: u.s. authorities are taking this threat seriously. but counterterrorism officials across the country have been alerted out of an abundance of caution. law enforcement sources tell us the threat comes from al-qaeda. the threat information provided no specific targets for attacks in those states.

planning for several worst-case scenarios. earlier this week, police warned of polling places being targets for lone-wolfe attacks. a senior fbi official says the bureau as well as the department of homeland security are working closely with federal state and local agencies to disrupt and identify potential threats. it is not unusual for there to be an increase in the volume of threatle significant events like holidays or even an election. an official says it is important to investigate those threats thoroughly. colorado could become the linchpin for hillary clinton or donald trump to win the presidency. >> that is why donald trump will campaign at the western
