and it's tuesday, election day. i'm alan gionet. >> and i'm britt moreno. it is a day that could bring you relief or concern. hey, we get that, and we'll be with you every step of the way today. let's start off this morning with a look at the forecast, and ashton, some people feeling hot, cold about this election, but today it could be pretty mild out there. >> we're doing our part in the weather office, you know. calm and pleasant. not two words if the most of us would use to describe the election, but that's what we have to use to describe our weather. temps in the 30s 40s to jacket definitely necessary as we get the day started. we're going to warmup nicely today. well into the 60s, far above normal for early november. we'll check the forecast coming up. right now let's check the traffic with joel hillan. >> we already have quite a bit of volume on this drive. nothing that's goingo slow you down. this is from our cbs4 tech center cam. take a look at the drive from the west. if you're coming from the i-70, speeds into the 60s.

if you've procrastinated, no need to frat. you're able to drop off your ballot. jerry leery is live at the denver election center with what you need to know. good morning. >>reporter: good morning, britt. not only can you drop off your ballot, but you can register to vote. polling places open at 7:00. close at 7:00. if you're in line at 7:00 p.m., you still get to come and vote. there's ride sharing services, bike sharing services offering you get to the polling place. so, how are the ballot counts shaping up? let's take a look. for the first time this campaign season, republicans have actually out paced democrats for returning their ballot. the margin thin in recent days and

their ballots with -- under 600 ballots returned. this is an interesting and un conventional election with many crossing party lines and we've had talk about republicans opposing trump. our democrats political analyst tate talked to us about how the republicans against trump could change the election. >> whether they vote for hillary clinton is another question, but i have a hard time believing they're going to dump their vote with a libertarian or a green party candidate or anybody else on the they may obtain and the abstention is not going to help trump. >> i'm told to date, over 2 million coloradans turned in their ballots. again, 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. today. have you a chance to register and vote at the same time at any polling place. coming up at 6:45, we're going to talk to our republican political analyst to see what he thinks about the election.

you can register and vote today. the clinton and trump campaign are trying to find the last possible votes in the toss upstates. colorado could be a close call. craig boswell has the latest information from virginia. >>reporter: the polls are now open along the east coast. democratic vice presidential nominee tim tim kaine cast his vote in his hometown. >> clinton made her final campaign push in north carolina with the help of celebrity friends lady gaga and bon jovi. >> it's not just my name or donald trump's name on the ballot, it's the kind of country we want. ? [ music ] ? ? >> ? we got each other ? ? >> the rally came as new hampshire cast the first votes of the day, giving clinton a 4-2 win over trump.

own rally in the battle state of michigan. a democratic leaning state he's eyeing to turn red today. >> today we're going to win the great state of michigan and we are going to win back the white house. >> 42 million votes have been cast making today really the final date to vote at polling places like this one in northern virginia. trump's daughters courted voters in the state yesterday with 13 electoral votes up for grabs. >> [indiscernible]. >> clion contest with more ways to win the white house. in order for trump to win, he'll have to take pennsylvania, florida and ohio to reach 270 electoral votes. craig boswell. >> the justice department is -- they'll be monitoring those polls today looking for any signs of discrimination or improper behavior. election lex

then join us for cbs4 news at 10:00. 5:34. weather and traffic every ten minutes on the fours. >> good morning to you, britt. good tuesday morning, everybody. we're in the 30s and 40s around the denver area this morning. sun up at 6:37. doppler 4000, not showing anything. there's not even a cloud in the sky over colorado. so we'll get to enjoy a lot of sunshine. this is actually going to be the case through the rocky mountain region today. very quiet, calm weather throughout the west andh day here. by noon, 63. and a high temperature of 6 6. that's two degrees warmer than yesterday. tomorrow, we'll be at least five degrees warmer than today. so yes, we're going to go into the 70s tomorrow. you don't want to miss the five-day forecast. that's coming up. let's get over to traffic with joel hillan. good morning, ashton. good looking drive across the denver-metro. look at this, this is from our denver tech center cam. it's loading up and we're seeing more and more volume out there.

into town. i-76, i-270, u.s. 36 all looking great as well. across the denver-metro, there's one trouble spot and that's at quebec and university to the south of c-470 where we've had an accident. joel, thank you. a woman notices a man taking pictures up her skirt at a broncos game. that man has a distinction quality about him, and police hope that you can help them track him down. shawn chitnis is live at mile high stadium with information and a pictur morning, shawn. >>reporter: britt, good morning. police glad they have these pictures and they think they could help in finding this manor at least getting the public to identify him. so let's take a look at these photos at the stadium. they believe this suspect is 30 to 35 years old and five -- he has a prosthetic leg. the woman says she caught

skirt using his cell phone. dpd thinks this happened around 2:00 p.m. near gate ten during the charger's game on october 30th. and the victim says the man ran off when she tried to confront him. so if you recognize this manor have any information that could help investigators, you're asked to contact denver police. live at mile high, shawn chitnis, cbs4 morning news. >> shawn, thank you very much. biggest settlement in the city of aurora's history. the family of a man shot by police. he didn't have a weapon when he died. the police department rolled out new policies, that includes a compliance division that tracks the use of force by officers and more body cameras and they'll expand a review board that investigates officer wrong doings and the officer who shot him was not charged. with recent terror threats, police across the country are preparing

the election. both presidential candidates are going to be in new york city. hanna daniels reports on security at the election. >>reporter: trump at the hilton hotel, nypd and secret service says they're prepared for the massive security -- >> you're going to see a lot of police and a lot of uniforms and marked cars, so there's going to be a lot of police in new york city and some you won't see. >> the beefed after recent reports that terror groups might be planning a possible attack in new york and other parts of the u.s. in hopes of disrupting the election. >> new york city will never be intimidated, never by threats of terror, nor by anyone who wants to do anything to disrupt our electoral process. >> polling places around the country will see increased security. in los angeles county, bomb sniffing bombs were

of homeland security is bracing for the threat of possible cyber attacks. a cyber command center is being monitored 24 hours a day. arizona, illinois and florida and two-dozen other states saw hacking in their data base system within the last two months. >> it's creating -- >> security experts say they don't believe a cyber attack could change the vote count, but they do say confusion. hanna daniels, cbs news. >> some say this election is out of this world, and it turns out they're right. an astronaut cast his absentee ballot from outer space yesterday. shane filed his electronic absentee ballot from the international space station. another astronaut kate cast her vote from the iss last week before returning to earth. here on earth we have the election coverage you need. right now, 35 degrees in denver. >> ahead you have to see this.

,, ,, good morning, everyone. this is the news in health. a new hope for children with cancer. there is positive date in an on childhood cancer survivors. a new study suggests

have some struggles with health issues. doctors tracking should thousand adults survivors of childhood cancer found that although survival rates increase, patient health didn't necessarily improve over time. doctors in the uk report around 17% of women diagnosed with breast cancer have symptoms other than a lump. researchers say women with breast -- they welo women who found a lump. and vitamin d deficiencies are linked to an increased risk of bladder cancer. that's according to british scientist. the body produces vitamin d through exposure to sunshine and foods such as fish and eggs. doctors say there's a growing evidence of the importance of maintaining adequate vitamin d levels. we get a review we don't usually get this time of year. independence pass is open.

the 50s today including 56 degrees at fresco. i want to bring your attention to what's going to happen in the southeast part of the state. this is the coldest numbers along highway 50 to pueblo to la junta and lamar and towards colorado, so we've got a freeze watch down there for tonight. wide spread killing freeze if you're watch from that part of the state. otherwise, clear skies today and tonight. that's why it's going to be so cold tonight. whenever we don't have cloud cover night, it helps to cool things off. cooler than they would otherwise be, temperatures that is. storm system in the middle of the country bringing rain from texas to the great lakes. for us, high pressure is going to control our weather for the next couple of days, but watch the clock. going into tomorrow, wednesday, the high on top of us, tomorrow the warmest day day. thursday -- a cold front is going to sneak from canada. friday, we'll be cooler than

still likely above freezing or excuse me, how about normal, but it will be noticeably cooler around here on friday. i'm going to go with 60 right now. we may have to drop that into 50s for friday. otherwise, it's sunny, it's dry, and again, above normal temperatures all the way through the upcoming weekend. that's a look at your weather. let's check traffic with joel. >> that's the pattern and for the morning drive. let's load up on traffic. a few more cars on the roadways, but no trouble on the highways. if you're along i-25 near arapahoe road yesterday, you deserve a good drive this morning. southbound coming into town, speeds from the 60s down into the 50s. nine-minute from thornton to denver. westbound along i-76, eastbound along i-270, u.s. 36 wide open. that's what we're seeing across the denver-metro. this doesn't mean there isn't a lot of cars on the road, it means they're running at or posted speed limits. one trouble spot south of c-470 at university and quebec.

eastbound along i-70 out to i-225, a nine-minute drive. >> thanks. the broncos are in need of a fix. we don't know if that will come -- st.s are kind of the opposite of the broncos. they're playing great -- the saints are kind of the offity -- offense -- the running game is missi anderson in this election and coaching staff is not likely to get a lose the positive votes. the broncos talked about being balanced, but ran the ball just a dozen times sunday which is not enough. >> we got to run the ball earlier. we have 13, 14 rushing attempts in the last game. and as a running back, no one ever thinks that's enough. we want to run the ball more. we want the ball in our hands because we're the original play makers of the offense, you know.

dynamics here in colorado. >> i'm not sure our deed matters a as personality. there's far too many prominent republicans who publicly stated i'm not voting for trump. >> they could be offset by working class democrats who say they'll vote for trump. young voters don't like either candidate, a poll out of boulder showed them breaking for gary johnson. >> hillary clinton needs a big margin out of boulder county. she's onl those younger voters show up and vote for her. >> trump's big problem, college educated white women who lean republican here, but favor clinton. >> even though they may have issues with her, she's still the first woman ever running for the seat. and you have a guy who hasn't been real judicious in his language when it come to talking about women. >> latinos too turning out strong for clinton, but african americans are not.

if there's a modest drop off of african american turn out in denver and in aurora, that could impact the state by the election. >> that was shaun boyd reporting for us. another thing we'll watch is the down ballot impact of the presidential race. two of the tightest congressional races in the country are in colorado 6th and third congressional districts. republican incumbents mike hoffman and scott tipman are fighting to hold onto their seats. in last mini lex jabs with the help of a familiar guy. >> do you remember who is running. >> walter mondale and that nice mormon guy. and george -- >> that was a while ago. do you want me to tell you. >> let me get a quick bit of water.
