the cbs4 morning news -- >> [indiscernible] i'll be president for all americans and this is so important to me. >> donald trump claims victory after a late night election finish. this morning, we're yet to hear from clinton as the country looks at moving forward. the markets are reacting worldwide to this election, and so are people. we'll hear from some who watched the election in mexico city the stakes minimum wage to $12 an hour narrowly passes and it does come with a few concessions. we have the details you need to know coming up on cbs4 morning news. and good morning from colorado's weather center. 30s and 40s along the front range right now, but this afternoon, we're going for the 70s. your weekend forecast is coming up. if you're slow to get up and going this morning, you're not

the nation. tuesday, evening started off well enough for clinton as vote totals came in, but as the night pressed on -- this gave a lead to trump. several key battleground states considering essential for trump did indeed tip in favor of the republican nominee. trump winning ohio, florida, and north carolina. mail biter races continues into the morning hours with thin and new hampshire where the nominees were separated by 18 votes and trump pulling ahead of clinton in the state of wisconsin winning key states like arizona and pennsylvania. trump pulling up a long shot victory to become america's 45th president. i'm diane gallagher reporting. >> let's take a look at colorado this morning. colorado votes went for clinton. as you can see with 84% of the precincts in

donald trump, 45%. our political special shaun boyd takes a closer look at how our key counties voted. >>reporter: colorado is one of the battlegrounds that trump -- he lost the big two big swing counties of jefferson and arapahoe and didn't get big enough margins like douglas and el paso. the democrats had a massive get out and vote operation wit they told me 30,000 volunteers. it paid off. despite trump visiting the state more a dozen times over the last three months and dispatching his kids here as well. here's what i kind interesting, while clinton ask democratic senator michael bennett won in colorado, republicans maintain control of the state senate and republican congressman mike hoffman won his reelection. it was one of the most contested races in the country. i think colorado is

presidential election. here's a look at an election watch party in mexico city, while some americans were stunned. some reacted to trump's victory. >> i came here tonight thinking we had it in the bag but it would be fun to watch the election coverage. i'm really nervous and we're scared to go back to the states. >> i love live nothing mexico and i'm happy -- i love living in mexico and i'm happy. i think living in a different country ra anything that might be happening in the united states. and honestly in trump wins, i kind of feel safer as a minority and as a woman living in mexico. donald trump promised over and over during the campaign he'll build a wall along the nearly 2,000 mile mexican border. here in colorado, coloradans have approved to raise the minimum wage from $8.31 to $9.30. here you see, amendment

majority vote. here with a closer look is our jaime leary who is live at the capital for us this morning, and jaime, supporters say this will lead to more satisfied workers here in our state. >>reporter: yes, supporters say a lot of good things will come from this. colorado voters did approve this 54 to 46% which means by 2020, it will raise the minimum wage from where it sits currently at $8.31 to $12 an hour. the first raise that's going to january 1st of 2017 increasing the minimum wage to $9.30 per hour. and then it's going to increase annually by $0.90 until it hits $12 -- excuse me, until it hits $12. because low income workers are likely to spend this extra earned income, it's going to give the economy a boost. the study says lifting the

$400 million into the economy and reduce reliance of public assistance. this amendment may push them over the edge. proponents says it's a win-win for colorado. >> it's not like it's a money that goes into the voy and never seen again. it goes back into the community benefitting the worker and reducing reliance on government assistance, so i think it's a win-win situation l >> not only will amendment 70 raise the minimum wage to $12 by 2020, it's going to prevent a decrease in the minimum wage should the cost of living start to fall. live from the capital, jaime leary, cbs4 morning news. >> jaime, thank you for that. there were more amendments -- >> it would make it difficult to

cities. this case starting in aurora and making its way to denver. here's what we know about this. it all started tuesday morning in aurora when police were responding to a shooting at an apartment complex on del mar circle. one man was shot and killed. and police then got word that the shooting suspect in that case left a home in northwest denver on east 46th avenue. officers found the suspect confronting police already on scene and they we one aurora police officer was shot and he has non life-threatening injuries and should be okay. the officer with -- excuse me, another officer with denver police did shoot the suspect there and he died on scene. now those that know the victim says it's a growing trend in our area. >> everybody needs to practice love. i think if we took love out and -- there's too much hate

elagis. 39 at dia. 25 in greeley. however, so it's quite chilly. look at lineman, 17. light winds, clear skies and maximum radiation fall cooling. wyoming is one of the coolest spots. first goes at 60. aspen, 61 for a high temperature later today. we'll see 70s up and down the front range. upper 60s to close to 70s on the eastern plains. it will be a warm day for november at least this warm day. this morning, you'll need the jacket. you'll feel the chill outside. clear skies through the rocky mountain region. active weather from texas all the way up the east coast where a cold front is located. behind the front, high pressure, right on top of us for today. that's why we're going to be so warm. what's going to happen is the front is going to move to the west to allow a weak cold front to move in. tomorrow will be breezy. enough wind, we'll notice it. we're concerned about the fire danger

the wind picks up with a continued dry conditions and then on friday, the front actually will be south of us, so it will be cooler on friday. i'll put things into perspective. we're talking 50s here which for november is tough to call cool, but compared to where we have been, you'll notice the change on friday. there's no moisture with this front. no rain or snow in the forecast for anyone in colorado. the record is 76 setback in 1927. tomorrow, 67. and then 57 behind a front on friday. temperatures in the mid 60s. sunny skies state wide. let's check the traffic. >> we have a trouble spot along i-25 near 58th and that's where we have this camera here. you can see the volume we're getting in the southbound direction. we have reports of a ladder and other things in the northbound direction. we see delays between i-270 and -- i-225, pena boulevard, c-470 for the most
