that's about 15 degrees above normal. but it's not as warm as we were yesterday. we made it up to 74 yesterday. only 2 degrees away from the record. more is coming up, but now let's check in with joel hillan. good morning, ashton. the early morning traffic situation looking great out there across the denver metro area. we've been watching this cdot camera, i-25 and 20th. nice light volumes. i'm always surprised how many cars we have on the road this c-470 slowing both sides of 285 as you make your way along the hog back there. portion of u.s. 6 through clear creek canyon closed as they do maintenance there. protestors upset over the election of donald trump were in the streets of several cities, including los angeles, as many got onto the freeway and blocked traffic there. the protest started downtown and moved to the 101.

[ yelling ] >> in san diego violence erupted in the gas lamp quarter as protestors clashed with each other and with police. several people were arrested. in san francisco more than a thousand protestors shut down market street as they marched from the financial district into the mission district. emotions ran high and many looked to vent their frustrations. a gay rights activist who worked with '70s says many fear what's ahead. >> it doesn't matter how old you are, what color you are, gender you are, all of us are threatened by this and we need to respect each other. in the nation's capital, people gathered outside trump's future home at 1600 pennsylvania avenue, some had

outside trump's washington hotel and they were kept at a distance. >> you are ordered to leave the roadway and utilize the sidewalk. >> this video of hundreds of meme who staged a sit -- people who staged a sit in when they refused to move and police arrested one after the other. donald trump will travel to the white house to meet with president obama. our hena daniels reports from what's ahead. >> they're protesting democracy. democracy was at work. democracy is what played out. >> reporter: businesses in new orleans were damaged, fireworks set off in oakland, and in new york -- >> you are unlawfully in the roadway. >> reporter: police arrested several protestors blocking traffic along various trump properties. hundreds of protestors lined the streets of 5th avenue across the street from trump tower, this as president-elect

with president obama at the white house later today. >> we move in ways that some people think is forward and others think is moving back, and that's okay. >> reporter: hillary clinton urged her supporters to give trump a chance. >> donald trump is going to be our president. we owe him an open mind and the chance to lead. >> reporter: trump stayed out of the public eye yesterday. privately meeting with his staff to go over potential cabinet appointments. in a tweet pledged to "begin the urgent task of rebuilding our nation and renewing the american dream." hena daniels, new york. >> trump and pence will meet with house speaker paul ryan today during that visit to washington. breaking news, two men robbed, one person shot, this happened early this morning outside the stone nightclub on morrison road in denver. that's where shawn chitness is live this morning. shawn, what can you tell us

>> reporter: well, britt, here at this location right outside of the nightclub we know that police are still on scene kind of securing it or at least monitoring the area. we also know the suspect may have led police outside of denver to another location in some sort of pursuit. this all started right before 2:00 a.m., where denver police tell us that these two men who were outside of the nightclub were robbed by someone and one of those two men was shot and taken to the hospital in he's now stable and the other man wasn't injured. the suspect did get away with their car and now that car may be in douglas county with police pursuing them on the road, or that suspect on the road. at this time police are unable to give us a suspect description or details about the car that may be involved. live in denver, shawn chitness, cbs4 morning news. thank you very much. this hour yesterday morning stocks were way off ahead of the open but turned around.

noor at the new york -- floor at the new york stock exchange. good morning. >> reporter: good morning, alan and britt. wall street gave a nice welcome to the idea of president-elect trump. it is a stunning reversal after plunging in the hours immediately following word of a trump win. the dow finished the day 256 points higher. nasdaq added57 and futures are pointing to a higher open. some of the are weighing in. j.p. morgan's ceo sent a letter to his staff -- starbucks' ceo told his employees they should give trump the chance. general motors is laying off more than 2,000 workers at

the lay offs start in january. they say they're shifting demand to cars. starbucks actually asked customers to submit their own designs and starbucks chose 13 from about 1200 submissions. they're giving out buy one drinks get one free today, tomorrow through mo 2:00 to 5:00. pretty good deal. >> it's a sign of the seasons i guess. new starbucks cups. >> turn of the corner. >> reporter: one of you guys buys, the other gets it for free. >> buys, free. buys, free. >> he's making me buy mine. >> reporter: alan, is that nice? >> i'm in the spirit this morning.

like that. >> if you run from us, we're not going away. >> reporter: deputies caught up to this truck on i-76. you can see the passenger heading out of the truck as it speeds down the road at 100 miles per hour. eventually things got more dangerous. >> the passenger has broke out the back window of the pickup, crawled into the topper and now starting to throw objects. this is 67-pound floor jack that just went by. >> reporter: a total of 50 items were thrown t nearly 40-mile stretch of road. >> we didn't recover all the items that were thrown out. there were so many. >> reporter: brandon mcintosh and luke batts are being held for several accounts of attempted murder. >> there's a bumper off of another stolen vehicle with stolen license places on it -- plates on it. >> reporter: that stolen vehicle is this truck, full of items for the veterans organization boots 66.

front that's now in montana. as we transition into tomorrow, that front will drop southward, passing over denver and the front range. it will be cooler tomorrow. highs in the 50s. a dry front will pass. no rain or snow with this front. today 68 with sunshine. tomorrow, 56 for veterans day. that's close to normal, but still a few degrees above where we're typically at. 54 would be normal now. for the weekend, mid-60s saturday and sunday with sunshine both days. warming trend monday, and by next tuesday we'll likely be in end of next week the storm system looking more promising. let's keep our fingers crossed. i-25 and arapahoe road, you don't really need to cross your fingers for the drive. i-25 and arapahoe road they're doing road work, but it's not blocking off the five lanes of traffic in the northbound direction heading through the tech center. great drive along i-225 along i- 270 and i-76 as well. we have seen slowing along i-76
