,, president-elect donald trump sits down with president obama as the transition begins. this is the news. president-elect trump and his wife visited the white house. mr.obama and mr. trump had this to say after the meeting.

to have an excellent conversation with president- elect trump. it was wide ranging. we talked about some of the organizational issues in setting up a white house. we talked about foreign policy. we talked about domestic policy. and as i said last night, my number one priority in the coming two months is to try to facilitate a transition that ensures successful, and i have been very encouraged by i think interest in president-elect trump's wanting to work with my team around many of the issues that this great country faces, and i believe that it is important for all of us

preferences to now come together, work together to deal with the many challenges that we in this case. and in the meantime, michelle has had a chance to brief the incoming first lady and we had an excellent conversation with her as well and we want to make sure that they feel welcome as they prepare to make this transition. most of to you mr. president-elect, that we are now going to want to do everything we can to help you succeed, because if you succeed, then the country succeeds. >> thank you very much, president obama. this was a meeting that was going to last for maybe 10 or 15 minutes and we were just going to get to know each

the meeting lasted for almost an hour and a half and it could have, as far as i'm concerned, could have gone in for a lot longer. we really, we discussed a lot of different situations, some wonderful and some difficulties. i very much look forward to dealing with the president in the future, including counsel. he difficulties. some of the high flying assets ask some of the great things that have been achieved. mr.president, it was a great honor being with you and i look forward to being with you many more times in the future. >> thank you. thank you, everybody. we are not going to be taking any questions. thank you, guys. >> republicans who spoke out against president-elect trump during the campaign are now

could no longer support trump after the access hollywood tape she is he'll work -- says he'll work to find common ground. >> we need to fix a broken tax code and invest it here. >> trump criticized john mccain during the campaign. senator lindsey graham ys will help to the extent he can. there have been protests around the nation, including at our capitol. organizers are calling it an inclusive rally. more demonstrations are expected tonight. an armed robbery outside a nightclub in denver led to a chase in centennial.

andrea flores is outside that nightclub. it's on morrison road near kentucky. >> reporter: dpd says the suspect is still on the loose as they continue to investigate what led up to this shooting that eventually led police on a wild chase earlier this morning. we know it started just before 2:00 a.m. when police say two men were robbed at gunpoint here at stone nightclub. one man was shot and seriously hurt. the shooter then took off in red camaro belonging to one of those victims. officers chased the suspect down i-25 and across county lines, reaching dangerous speeds all the way to castle rock. the shooter then turned around and drove back toward denver. that's when police called off the chase. they eventually found that camaro in centennial at an apartment complex. nearby residents say the shooting isn't that surprising. >> i was asleep in my bedroom when all of a sudden i heard a

because there's always trouble and i don't want to get shot either. >> reporter: this club has seen its fair share of dangerous activity in recent months. back in march a man was found dead outside the nightclub prompting a homicide investigation. as far as this morning's shooting is concerned, police have not released a suspect description. live in denver, andrea flores, cbs4 news. a developing story in morgan county, where deputies on a chase, throwing stuff onto the interstate. jeff todd shows us video of this chase. >> if you run from us, we're not going away. >> reporter: deputies caught up to this white truck along i-76. you can see the passenger hanging out of the truck as it speeds down the highway at 100 miles per hour. eventually things got even more dangerous. >> the passenger has broke out the back window of the pickup,

starting to throw objects. this is 67-pound floor jack that went by. >> reporter: a total of 50 items were thrown out over a nearly 40-mile stretch of road. >> we didn't recover all the items that were thrown out. >> reporter: brandon mcintosh and luke batts are being held for several counts of attempted murder. >> there is a bumper off another vehicle with stolen license plates on it. >> reporter: that stolen vehie it was full of items for the veteran's organization boots 66. >> we had boots in the truck that came from the actual military personnel that were killed in iraq or afghanistan that the family had donated to us and those are priceless. >> reporter: the truck owner told us she thinks her car is totaled because many of its parts were thrown at deputies. jeff todd, cbs4 news.

shooting off the 16th street mall. happened after lunch yesterday on champa street. it started with a fight in the parking lot. somebody pulled a gun, killing two men and badly hurricane gustav another -- hurting another. >> there's police officers on this street. you walk up, there's a bus kind of off to the side stopped, empty as we officers and an impact team assigned to this particular area to help combat crime were able to get into the area quickly. >> witnesses also saw two of the suspects hop on an rtd bus. police stopped that bus and took a man and woman off. they arrested a 20-year-old stephen wily. the woman has been released. we're getting a look at video of a denver bank robbery.

bask on south colorado. it shows two men getting out of a gold dodge sedan. one hops the counter, the suspects point guns at workers and at customers. >> the men were very violent, very dangerous. they really held people hostage, threatened their lives. >> police do not believe that is the only bank they robbed. the men wore gloves white with red stitching that made them might recognize them. another november day, another day of sunshine and warm temperatures. feels great, but we need moisture. meteorologist ashton altieri is in colorado's weather center. ashton. >> loveland ski area opening today, top of chair one,54 degrees. that's the temperature at the base area. we're warming up quickly in the metro area as well.

today is a great day to create a family. it is national adoption day. that means courts have cleared dockets for adoptions. our jamie leary is live at the denver justice center now. a happier reason to be there than we usually have. i know some days we're covering the bad news, but this is just great. >> reporter: i've been saying that all day. this was a great court story. denver adoption day, celebrating national adoption day, has done this 12 today, 47 children were adopted. this meant 47 great stories. one in particular stuck out. eight years ago a judge had the tough task of putting a young girl into the foster care system because she was is neglected. today that young girl found her forever home. and that same judge came back specifically to preside over her adoption. >> are meant to be raised in families. for you, we tried a number of

work out. but now you have a great family, and just sitting here looking at the three of you, you guys are going to rock it. >> reporter: not only did the 17-year-old find her forever home, but the woman she find mom adopted her little sister. unfortunately, not all are as lucky as the 47 we saw he currently there are 39 children in denver and 238 throughout colorado in foster care waiting to find permanent homes. today that happened, thanks to 34 dedicated families who adopted those 47 children. some were adopting more than one, like scott and chris, who made zoe and her little brother alex an official part of their home. take a listen. >> we are now one year later and have our own two kids. only really we started with

one child and now we have two, and we couldn't be happier to have two. >> all about love. >> reporter: 632 children have been adopted in colorado because of this program. its purpose is to raise awareness about a much bigger problem. there are more than 100,000 children waiting to find their forever homes. so it's important to pay that's out there. this is a great story today. 47 children found their forever homes today. live in denver, jamie leary, cbs4 news. >> that is awesome. the families are enriched by all this. it's wonderful. >> it's all about love. i love that. >> ashton and i are falling apart looking at that. how about a little rain on our parade? that's looking beautiful as well, the weather. would be nice if we got rain.

parade saturday, that will be terrific in downtown denver. we've had years of snow, freezing temperatures, gusty winds, you name it. but not this year. it's tough to find a cloud anywhere in colorado, with high pressure on top of us. there's the other side of the story and that's the drought situation. every thursday morning the drought monitor is updated. it gets a weekly update. here's the latest from this morning. last week about 90% of colorado was under some stage of drought. as t experiencing some form of drought. abnormally dry conditions the bright yellow color. boulder, fort collins, we're under moderate drought, and that extends through douglas county as well. the streak continues of dry warm weather. we've had 29 days in a row without any rain. last time we had measurable rainfall was the 12th of october. today is our 21st day in a row of temperatures above normal.

denver now. this afternoon we'll top out a little bit above where we currently are. 70 for denver. same for boulder and greeley. 60s and 70s on the eastern plains. 50s and 60s in the mountains today. doppler 4000 not showing anything with the clear skies here. new mexico and texas, they've got cloud cover from an upper level system. what we're paying more attention to is what's happening in wyoming and western nebraska. there is a cold front, weak front, it will start coming in this afternoon. temperatures topping out around yesterday. cooler air behind that front will is that right settling in -- start settling in. tomorrow noticeably cooler day. nothing dramatic for november. but you'll notice the change. topping out in the 50s. no rain or snow. but everything is still on track for a system to come in at the end of next week, next thursday, 17th of november, where you see the green rain and snow. a lot of it will be to the west

here's the very, very preliminary snow forecast. those numbers will change at least a little bit. we're looking at at least 3 to 6 inches for many of the mountain areas the end of next week. 70 degrees this afternoon. just a bit breezy at times as the front comes in. behind the front, 56 for tomorrow. and for the weekend, mid-60s both saturday and sunday. looks terrific for the veteran's day parade. monday looks good as well. 76 and by next tuesday the 70s ahead of that that's how far away it is. it should be here the end of next week and if everything goes to plan, we should get rain and snow. >> incredible with meteorology you could track something in japan. i'm glad it will be good for veteran's day. drivers are reporting explosions happening in their cars while driving. cbs4's lauren dispirito shows us it's a frightening experience.

prefer a cat-free home and kids under eight. dumb friends league south of the outlet mall. chill dog here today. broncos headquarters not a happy place to be this week after the loss to the raiders. a lot of players are frustrated. offense, defense, even the fans. a lot of disappointment in the offense, leaving a lot of them saying they need to get better and they know. >> we're all a little frustrated. but i think we're doing some it's tough, but i think guys are just working really hard and that's the thing, guys are working hard and not seeing it pay off on sundays like we want it to. >> basically, you know, getting over the last week and trying to go on and do better. you don't want to be the team, their defense is good and offense, they got up and down. we want to go out every quarter and put up points some kind of way. >> broncos take on the saints sunday in new orleans.
