outside idaho springs. the property owner thinks he knows who is responsible. i'm kathy walsh. melissa garcia has more at the scene. >> reporter: we are three miles southwest of idaho springs. the smoking structure you see behind me used to be a three story lodge. now it has been destroyed. red spray doused the hill where a house went up in flames. air support dropped an estimated 25,000 gallons of water to from spreading to other homes. >> it is basically an athletic event for the firefighters. >> reporter: the fire chief say it is dry conditions didn't make anything easier. neither did the home's remote location. >> we expected we would potentially lose this structure because of the location. we have to haul the water up here. >> reporter: tankers took turns shuttling water from the

the cause of the fire as possible arson and say one person is in custody. the property owner told us off camera he believes an evicted ex-tenant is responsible. is a resident was inside when the fire started but he made it out. while the structure was a total loss, firefighters were successful in keeping the flames from spreading and no one was injured. firefighters expect to return to continue putting out hot happening now, hundreds of people are exercising their first amendment rights at a rally in fort collins. organizers say it is meant to make minority groups feel welcome and equal as americans. many are uncertain about a donald trump presidency. cbs4's dillon thomas is there live right now. and dillon, things have been peaceful but i understand there are a lot of police there. >> reporter: well, kathy, a few hundred people attended, about 500 in that ballpark there.

minutes ago, but peaceful was the one word to describe this protest or rally. from the beginning event organizers encouraged people to voice their opposition of trump, but stressed they want it to be in a peaceful way. several speakers including local elected officials spoke at the rally where they claim the nation's voice was not heard in this election. they feel hillary clinton should have been elected president. though many signs called president-elect trump many names, others encd and love among all other voters no matter who leads the nation. >> i decided to be here today because i feel like everyone should be treated equally. i do not believe in any of the things trump says. i think we should all just love each other and i feel like this protest and rally is a good way to get everybody together and create equality. >> reporter: now, those who opposed trump were not the only ones who came to the rally.

is going on after the election. >> police have not given any other information about the red cylinders. turning to weather now, is it really november 12? meteorologist dave diver dave aguilera is in colorado's weather center. >> normal high is 54. we made it to 71 degrees in denver today. so a little warmer than yesterday. 68 in boulder, 66 in fort collins. so, a very nice warm up around here. and on the satellite at it, not much cloud cover as we go into the evening tonight. mostly clear. it should stay that way at least for the evening. tomorrow we will change up. we have a cold front. the first of two that will affect us. this one, the business end is up here in canada. the front extends all the way down here into nevada. that will be sliding in during the course of the day tomorrow giving us partly cloudy skies. a little breeze going on. and i think it will keep our temperatures in the 60s

but with foe we look off the coast of california here, there is a bigger system here in the gulf of alaska around it spreads all the way here. this one may give us a chance of rain coming up in the week ahead. it's a small chance, but there is a chance of rain and much cooler temperatures. we will map it out for you coming up in a little bit. >> we will keep our fingers crossed. thanks dave. an update after a fire destroyed a semi truck and shut down i- that stretch of road is back open after cleanup. the state patrol tweeted the photos last night. no word yet on how the fire started but you can see the truck is is a total loss. colorado honored our nation's veterans today at denver's annual veteran's day parade. some are hoping the event will start the healing process after a devicive election season. cbs4's kelly werthmann spoke with veterans who have served our country. >> reporter: thousands of people lined civic center park

parade in downtown denver. >> it is really a hot topic for me. because, my dad was in. i was in. my son spent three tours in iraq. and my granddaughter is in the army now. it is kind of a family thing. >> reporter: with american flags in hand, families spent their saturday morning honoring the many men and women who have served our great country. and, during the time when the nation feels so divided, vietnam veteran gym four hopes days like this make united. >> maybe, it will make the country come together and heal a little bit. >> reporter: some families took time to heal ahead of the parade, alongside governor hickenlooper and congressman coffman as names of veterans were read at the monument. >> corporal wade ogalesky. >> today is about honoring everybody. including him.

>> new video from japan shows a massive sink hole swallowing an intersection. workers were extending a subway tunnel when the ground gave way. nearby buildings had to be evacuated. the hole is 90 feet wide and 50 feet deep. after the collapse, it filled with sewage th broken pipes. investigators are still figuring out what caused the collapse. repairs to a water main break at sixth and logan didn't last long. it had to be reopened after the pipe broke again overnight. the original cast iron pipe was installed back in 1890. everything is now repaired we are told and the roads are back open. returning to weather, a beautiful warm day and warmer weather is on the way?

we have some 7 0z. tonight, we are mostly clear. a few high clouds coming from out west. a beautiful night across colorado. on the big picture, we have a big ridge of high pressure. it is cooler air now moving across the nation's midsection. but most of the clouds are going well up into canada up here. now, we have a high pressure area right over arizona. so kind of a double barrel high sitting here. a little cold front is dripping over the top overnight, the tail end moving into colorado. we will increase the clouds somewhat. so partly cloudy skies across the northern part of the state. and for denver during the course of the afternoon around here, then the high resurges into utah. as we look off the coast though, of seattle and portland here, there is a bigger system out here. this will be a cold front with some moisture. and by the time we get to thursday, this may have a little bit of rain for denverment maybe some mountain

rock star sting is the headliner. paris will honor the victims with a series of events around the city. well, meteorologist dave aguilera is in colorado's weather center. dave, we are looking for some more seasonal weather i think. >> more seasonal weather and we need moisture along with that. unfortunately, just can't be found out there. the high today made it to 71. normal high, seasonal high, is 54. so, still going on with this dryness. and, this we have to look forward to. on the u.s. drought monitor, look at how dry we are. we are in a moderate drought from fort collins, denver, colorado springs, and trinidad. most of the state is abnormally dry. we have just not seen the moisture around here. coming up tomorrow, we actually have a cold front. don't think it has a lot of moisture for us, but thursday might be the day we get a few drops of rain. satellite is crystal clear out there tonight.
