an arson investigation underway after a house burns to the ground in idaho springs. one person is in custody. >> reporter: firefighters called off the attack at 5:00 pm. as you can see behind me, they're back tonight as flared up. the fire may have been started on purpose. crews are investigating it as arson with a possible suspect in custody. >> it was being leased out. the property owner was not there. >> reporter: off-camera, the property owner tells cbs4 he believes an evicted extenant may be to blame. >> there is a lot of contarns here proshgs pain and fuel -- containers here, propane and

in boulder a crowd of about 100 people blocked a roadway briefly. dylan thomas is hiefsh in fort collins where demonstrators found a counter protest. >> reporter: here about 500 people gathered to protest the election of donald trump. they were saying they woulded it to be peaceful without any issues disruption the public. the public, suppose we spoke witho there should be no fear in the first place. >> reporter: for many who attended saturday's protest -- >> this is about people getting together and feeling safe and comfortable. >> reporter: a crowd of around 500 people gathered to show their opposition of president elect donald trump. they said the rally was organized with peace in mind unlike some others across the nation. >> it makes people very angry

rallies. denver high school students, denver area students are responding to the division in the u.s. with a message of love and support. these are pictures of cherry creek high school. on friday students posted positive notes on the more than 900 lockers lining the hallways in the east building. president elect donald trump is vetting possible cabinet members for his new administration. and while he didn't comment on the a positive message. >> reporter: donald trump had no public events on saturday but he did tweet once saying "this will prove to be a great time in the lives of all americans." in his first postelection interview, he told 60 minutes he owes his victory partly to social media. >> the fact that i have such power in terms of numbers with facebook, twitter, instagram,

a group protesting the dooktd access pipeline currently under construction. that pipeline will carry crude oil from north dakota to illinois. native americans and environmentalists say it could threaten the water supply of millions. and it disrespects sacred lands. a search is underway for a hit and run driver hit and suffered serious injuries remember the driver took off. troopers are searching for a man driving a 2009 black or gray bmw sedan. protestors break out in cincinnati after a judge declared mistrial in the case of a police officer who killed an unarmed black man.

after security was breached at the largest military base in afghanistan. officials believe a suicide bomber answer issed by hiding among afghan staff. once inside he detonated smoifb, killing two -- explosives, killing two service members and is two american contractors. 16 other american troops were injured. the taliban has taken responsibility. a concert hall in paris has reopened one year after terrorists opened fire on the crowd british singer sting headlined the first show at the venue since that massacre. ? ? wind and dry conditions are spreading wildfires currently burning in the south. officials believe many of them were deliberately set. an investigation is underway into more than 20 spisht fires burning in national fires and state parks in north carolina. the governor has declared a state of emergency in several counties. many families have been forced from their one home. one tenth of a mile from others. >> in southern kentucky, four wiselies are believed to be the result of four play. a 21-year-old was arrested for arson. he is a wanna be weatherman who admitted to starting a wildfire to get attention on facebook. this was no accident. after that truck smashes the storefront two, men run inside.
