custody after an unusual chase. >> officer finally captured him. he was armed with a gun and hiding with a car under a dealership. it all started when an under cover officer spotted a suspected car thief. the man we are told slowed down and ditched the car, which started to roll towards the police cruiser, an officer jumped in and pulled the emergency brake. no one was hurt, but the man is facing aggravated auto theft by a previous offender today, hundreds gather at the civic city park after the presidential election. dylan thomas has been following events like this across the state and he joins us at the civic center park good morning, dylan. >> tom, several still remain where the rally began two hours ago, here in civic center park,

called a peace rally encouraging unity in the community. this event was put on by the same group which put together the large protest march across denver last thursday night. tonight event organizers show they wanted to lead the nation in what peaceful want anyone here who would be intending to cause violence or have hate at today's rally. as for counter protest -- one or two individuals were shouting sentiments saying mostly that trump won and people need to gather on. people are playing music, saying different chants, some even saying their sentiments

bigger, because it's orbit takes it closer to the earth. the best time to see it is now if you go out. tomorrow, it will be big as well if you go out after sunset on both nights, it will be really bright and big out there. the closest it has been since 1948 and the next time it will be this close will be 2034. here as satellite and radar together, a little snow mountains as we told you earlier with a cold front coming through, cloud cover early on in the day. we still have some out there filtering the moon shine a little bit out there. it's starting to clear out nicely. here's the system that came through, high pressure will start to resurge over the area, already starting to build up here in arizona. this will slide into the central rockies, coming up tomorrow and at least through the middle of the week.

door will be open for the low pressure to swing through here. over"nightline" readings below -- right now, there is a chance we could see some light snow in the morning early in the morning friday of the week ahead here in denver. not alot, but there is a chance out there, 66 was our high. 67 downtown, normal highs, 53. this morning, we were 42. the morning wasn't quite as cold as the previous one. 60 out there, right now, 54 at the airport, north, northeast wind, six miles per hour. tonight, clouds and moisture, out of here, mostly sun judge to start the day, and during the afternoon, might see one or two clouds here and there, we stay mostly sunny statewide as the high starts to slide back in here. lows tonight, 20s and teens in the mountains, just kind of all over. i think you will get down to 29.

around the east, 50s in the mountains. so, again, the spumone u moon will be around here tonight. don't forget to take a grander at that, temperature wise, we'll be all right. and then tomorrow, we are looking at a high of 70 degrees. mostly sunny, 75 on tuesday, we'll be warming up and 74 on wednesday, i do believe the record high on tuesday is 78, so just a few points under that and thursday, 62, fall shows up. friday morning, early, i think will be overnight thursday into friday. there is a chance we could get a rain/snow mix with a high of 45 degrees. finally, a a little shot -- in sports, what a great win for the denver broncos. >> it wasn't easy, coming up.

16 other american troops were wounded. the base has been attacked from the outside before, including a motorcycle bombing that killed six american soldiers last year, but today's bombing inside of the base is extraordinary. the air base is america's main military post in afghanistan. and home to most of the 8500 american troops still in the country it's heavily guarded as you can imagine with several layers of security, multiple checkpoints and fences. nine americans have been killed in afghanistan since the start of october. so far, the 15 year war in afghanistan has claimed the lives of 2,294 americans. cbs fews, london. >> reporter: today marks the one year anniversary of the paris terror attacks that killed 130 people. the president of france attended a ceremony today at one of the sites where dozens

weather, but we have to get some moisture. >> we may be getting a little bit coming up in a few days, not tomorrow or the next day, but it's in the five-day forecast. tonight, we are looking at the super moon, it's out there tonight in the eastern horizon there is a look from our mouse trap camera. there is a live look for you from lookout mountain, big and bright, 14% brighter than normal. today, believe it or not, light snow in some of the mountains and even areas got a little rain/snow mix there. not much in denver, just some cloud cover that's starting to break off, leading to clear skies. on the bigger picture, looking for rain. there is a cold front there that is starting to move in. that leading edge is not going to affect us, yet, but by the time we get to thursday, there is huge low pressure area in the gulf of alaska. this is the storm system riding
