elect trump's offer to be the next u.s. secretary of education following their weekend meeting at his golf club in new jersey. in a statement, mr. trump described her as a brilliant and passionate education advocate. the 58-year-old from michigan is a long time republican donor who is is a charter school advocate. the president-elect selected south carolina governor nikki haley for u.s. ambassador to e proven track record of bringing people together. another foe turned friend, dr. ben carson, is under consideration for secretary of housing and urban development. mr. trump and vice president- elect mike pents have held more than 60 meetings with white house staffers since winning the election. in florida, security patrolled mr. trump's estate where he is spending thanksgiving with

there's the old system from yesterday. here comes the next system. we had high pressure in between. and, we will stay sunny here. but it is going to change a little for the mountains. let's take a look at it on the hour by hour forecast. and you can see, nothing is going on here. but as we roll it into motion, by 1:00 a.m., we see pretty good snows for the high country. however. it just doesn't last that long. here is thanksgiving day. nothing across the radar. running into black friday, you don't see anything across the radar, taking us all the way until evening. so let's go to lauren whitney in the weather center. this storm will bring snow for the high country. >> it will. and it has prompted a winter weather advisory. in the central mountains, we are look at two to five inches of snow for us. here across the front range. as you get closer to the tunnel. the tough spot, you may see three to six inches of snow. so, if you are traveling late night tonight or early in the morning you may hit snow. later on in the morning when it

if you have skiing plans throughout the holiday weekend, this is excellent news. a little lesser amount as you head down toward parts of the san juans and southern central mountains. maybe one to two inches of snow. the more north we head, the better chances or heavier snowfall. here in denver, across the front range, mid to upper 40s . plenty sunshine. chilly start to the day. if you have any turkey trot plans or the turkey bowl. a bit cold in the morning but in the afternoon, we are in thep sunshine. ed, we were in the 50s today. >> 49 is what is normal. 52 downtown. close to the normal low. 27 downtown. 73 and four below the records this day. 48 in northwest evergreen. 51 is arvada and brush. 52 in sental. northwest wind at 8. and yes, winter park is now open.

some snow and a pretty good day to ski. and we also have steamboat springs also now open. it was their opening day. and pretty good snow as well. as we take a look at the temperatures for tonight. mostly in the 20s and the 30s over the eastern plains. teens for the high country. out west, 20s and low 30s . and then, for tomorrow, another seasonal day around here. with 40s and 50s for the east. we are finding 0s for the mountains. out west, temperatures in the 30s and the 40s . here is your denver forecast. clear skies. temperatures, low 30s sunshine thanksgiving day and a seasonal one. 49 and 48. the next several days, jumping at 10 degrees friday. 58. one degree warmer sunday. look at that. near 60 degrees. then we cool it to more seasonal on sunday. and then, for monday, it is turning colder with a high of just 38 degrees. >> good football weather. >> it is. >> thanks ed. today's wednesday's child. a spirited 15-year-old with a lot of charisma. rachel got to take a gymnastics lesson.

>> police are looking for the person who set a homeless man on fire. that is where we begin tonights reporter brief. >> adams county deputies are looking for a dangerous suspect who set a homeless man on fire in front of this november 6 around 10:00 p.m., a man known as matthew had been sleeping outside of the store on east 58th avenue. the video shows a man come out of nowhere unprovoked and pour liquid on him and set him on fire. the attacker stabs him several times. matthew is in critical condition. the sheriff's office says the suspect is a white or hispanic male, five feet eight to six feet tall with a stocky build. he was wearing a hooded

colorado springs teens are okay after being lost on the mount of the holy cross more than two days. tommy hendricks and matt smith took off sunday evening for the sum met. they called their parents monday night at 7:00 p.m. that was the last anyone heard of them until they were discovered. a black hawk helicopter was used to ferry rescue teams onto the mountain. the ground the fixed wing plane spotted the two boys at an elevation of 12,000 feet. they are reported to be in stable condition. what about those rescue teams in this state? >> incredible. >> seriously. >> they are the best. they really are. hey, everybody should be happy. we get a little snow on the mountains overnight. then, we will be nice and sunny down here. and seasonal weather. >> thanks ed. >> 48 tomorrow.
