patchy drizzl and now abe's jimmy kimmel"jimmy kimmel live" live". >> dicky: from hollywood, it's "jimmy kimmel live"! tonight, joseph gordon-levitt. amber heard. and music from albert hammond jr. with cleto and the cletones. and now, stay put, here's jimmy kimmel! [ cheers and applause ] >> jimmy: thank you very much.
10:36 pm
thanks for watching. thanks to all of you for coming. welcome to our show. welcome to hollywood. does it feel like the holiday season to you now? it does? christmas is five weeks away. are any of you done with your christmas shopping or holiday shopping yet? [ no ] >> jimmy: no one identifies themselves if they have because they know we'd kill them if they did. seems like christmas comes earlier every year, even though it doesn't, it always comes on the 25th, the day after christmas eve. the stores keep stretching the season. a lot of commotion a couple of years ago when big stores started having their black friday sales on thursday. thursday as you know used to be known as thanksgiving day. now radio shack, radio shack announced yesterday that they're moving their black friday deals to wednesday. which is the day before thanksgiving.
10:37 pm
why not just kick things off at easter? let the bunny give santa a break. radio shack's chief marketing officer said, we think people are going to be delighted when they come in. he thinks people are coming in. radio shack's like the old japanese soldier who's still hiding in the jungle because he doesn't know the war's been over for 70 years. they're still running advertisements and while the advertisements might not be the high-profile, howie long, teri hatcher type commercials they used to have, still, moving their sales to wednesday might be just what they need to set themselves apart. >> radio shack is open wednesday with door-buster deals for the whole family this holiday season. half off on all 470 ohm film resisters for mom. save on a 100 uf 35 volt capacitor for dad. surprise the dead are kids with wires. and treat yourself to huge mark-downs on aa battery
10:38 pm
housings and coaxial adapters. radio shack. we don't know why we're here either. [ cheers and applause ] >> jimmy: that's a great store. they this start selling cupcakes, everybody likes those. not only is the holiday shopping season coming earlier every year, election season is too. bernie sanders the presidential hopeful and senator from vermont joined snapchat. he tweeted this to announce that. he says, what is this snapchat thing and why do i only get 10 seconds? i think that was a joke. maybe he has his mom returning social media for him. bernie did this i assume to appeal to younger voters. let's look at that tweet again. if you're the oldest candidate running for president, maybe not a great idea to post a drawing of yourself as a ghost. if you'd like to follow bernie sanders, his snapchat user name is bernie.sanders. if you want to log into his account his password is
10:39 pm
"password." laugh live [ cheers and applause ] [ laughter ] >> jimmy: jeb bush is on snapchat. he's been on for a while because he's cool too. the bush campaign launched a contest people can enter to win a chance to have dinner with jeb bush. enter to win dinner with him. the contest is called, will someone please come hang out with me? [ laughter ] [ cheers and applause ] >> jimmy: this is a contest or is jeb just lonely? if i won this contest i would spend the whole dinner holding jeb in my arms and telling him everything's going to be all right. entries will be accepted from now and -- between now and december 31st. the end of the year. the drawing takes place on january 4th. and by then jeb should have plenty of time for dinner. you could probably go on vacation with him if you really want to. this is good. this is true.
10:40 pm
flown, coach, for a city convenient for jeb, put up at a hotel nod exceeding $175 a night, and taken to a wheel which sounds like the worst hometown visit on "the bachelor" ever. speaking of "the bachelor" the new season starts in january, season 20 of "the bachelor." it's weird to think chris harrison has played the same number of seasons as kobe. but the bachelor this year is ben. judging from the mow toe this season promises to be the most eye-closing season yet. >> monday, january 4th. there have been many perfect bachelors. but this season we're giving you the perfect 10. i mean, perfect ben. >> here is to the hottest man in america. >> ha ha ha! >> 25 new women. we're sure he can find the perfect one. >> gotcha! >> or two.
10:41 pm
10:42 pm
[ cheers and applause ] >> jimmy: well done. the flag on the drum pet. damn you craigslist "services offered" section! i don't know how that happens. it's got to be a nephew or something, right? for those who like me, always on the lookout for the next trend in beauty, there's a company in l.a. offering temporary freckles. these are freckles that last 48 hours. the company's called freck yourself. billing it as the first semi-permanent freckle cosmetic. they're funding it on kickstarter. >> i'm ready. five years ago i decided to create the first cosmetic product that can give anyone natural freckles.
10:43 pm
it dons a user with realistic smudge-free freckles for 48 hours. i usually put a triangle below my eyes on my cheeks and wrap around my jawline. my friends and i have been rocking fresh faces and frecks nonstop. we love the look and know you will too. get frecked. >> jimmy: yeah. no, thanks. how complicated is it to apply freckles? do you really neat a kit for that? all you need is a pen. that's it. that's it, just a pen. i try to be open minded about things like this so we applied some temporary freckles to the face of our security guard, guillermo. let's have a look at the results and see. [ cheers and applause ] >> jimmy: analysis. all right. they're a little spotty. you know, you look like "strawberry shortcake." how do you feel?
10:44 pm
>> jimmy: you like it? >> guillermo: yeah. >> jimmy: maybe it will be a thing, i don't know. maybe people will be getting frecked up, who knows. there are more -- "fast and furious" movie franchise, they have a lot more movies on the way. according to vin diesel they're developing spinoffs and prequels to first extend this franchise. for anyone who hasn't seen the "fast and furious" movies here's basically how they go. cop goes undercover with an underground racing grew, then becomes one of them, then inexplicably they conduct a heist and the rock tries to take them down, the rock decides he likes them so they get hired by the government to stop terrorists, and they learn the [ laughter ] [ cheers and applause ] >> jimmy: the last movie hare that's more or less. oh, and cars drive around. "furious 7" was the sixth film in the series.
10:45 pm
there was no "furious 4." they skipped it to see if anyone would notice. "furious 8" opens in 2017 and then this spinoff will be released. though it won't be in theaters for two years the trailer is already out. >> announcer: you know the story. fast. furious. now. the thrill again from the rear view. critics are saying it rocks. it rolls. fuzzy, high-octane action. it's two hours and 15 minutes of dice hanging from a mirror. family isn't just the most important thing. it's the only thing. "the fast and the furious: the dice chronicles." this time it's no more mr. dice guy. [ cheers and applause ] >> jimmy: dumb.
10:46 pm
it's dumb. when we come back from break in honor of thanksgiving we asked children to tell us what they're thankful for. it turns out they're thankful for some very odd things. we'll be back with that so come on back. [ cheers and applause ] i'm not ready, i'm not ready, i'm not ready intel's best processor is here.
10:47 pm
and edit it, share it, play it back in 4k quality. introducing intel's new 6th generation core processor it's our best processor ever. all the hard work... time in the service... community college... it matters. it's why we, at university of phoenix, count your relevant work and college experience as credits toward your degree. learn more at phoenix.edu. this is brian. every day, brian drives carefully to work. and every day brian drives carefully to work, there are rate suckers. he's been paying more for car insurance because of their bad driving for so long, he doesn't even notice them anymore.

now brian has a rate based on his driving, not theirs. get snapshot and see just how much your good driving could save you. i've been waiting all day for this. whoa whoa whoa. i've been waiting since 8 to watch this. i got to the couch first. i was living here before you. i was born before you. boom. i was on the planet before you. scoot! i was born before both of you. oh. smosh. and epic rap battles! together. karl, don't you have friends coming over? yeah, so? it stinks in here. you've got to wash this whole room are you kidding? wash it? let's wash it with febreze. for all the things you can't wash, use... ...febreze fabric refresher whoa hey mrs. webber inhales hey, it smells nice in here
10:49 pm
10:50 pm
10:51 pm
yeah. even now it's more natural because you're actually laughing but there's this weird smile that you sometime dozen. try that again. yeah. yeah, that's it. yeah. yeah, what is that? >> guillermo: i don't know. >> jimmy: you don't know? did you take a holiday christmas card with the family? >> guillermo: not yet. this weekend. >> jimmy: oh, this weekend. where are you going to do it? >> guillermo: i think at the mall. >> jimmy: at the mall? with santa claus? >> guillermo: yeah. >> jimmy: it would be weird if it were in front of hot dog on a stick, right? all right. i'd like to shine a light on very fine local reporting. i don't think we do this enough. ktla, one of our local channels, mark mester is the news man. he's so busy covering a fire in cree that town this morning he lost all sense of place. >> as you can look at the building here it is at a total loss. we're awaiting the damage estimate so as we get details into the newsroom we'll pass them along to you as soon as we get them. live in south korea this morning.
10:52 pm
studio. >> jimmy: they really expanded their coverage. [ cheers and applause ] this happened in brooklyn at the barclay's center. the nets beat the hawks there. 90-88. a close one. the highlight came before the game even started courtesy of the elusive r. kelly who was on hand to sing the national anthem and to do this. >> hey, that's the one y'all send to youtube! >> jimmy: send that over to youtube, put a bunch of stamps on it so it gets there fast. i missed r. kelly, where has he been? thanksgiving is almost here. next week families across america will gather reluctantly to dine together and go home angry. thanksgiving obviously is a time to give thanks for the many blessings that we have and it's important to do that every once in a while.
10:53 pm
i think it's especially important that children understand thanksgiving isn't just about tracing your hand to make a turkey or men with belt buckles on their hats. it's time to give thanks. we went to the grove, a popular outdoor mall in l.a. not the one guillermo will be taking his family photographs at. right? a different one? >> guillermo: a different one. >> jimmy: we asked children there what they are thankful for. and this is what they shared. >> what are you thankful for? >> my doll. and my brothers. >> do you like your dog or your brothers better? >> my dog. >> what are you thankful for? >> thankful for my family. and plants. >> what kind of plants? >> really all plants. because plants give us air. >> what are you thankful for? >> sushi and gar ban zo beans.
10:54 pm
>> what kind of food? >> turkey. gravy. chicken. >> what are you thankful for? >> my school and my friends. >> which friends? >> cindy and taylor. >> my toys. >> fried chicken. nachos. burritos. chili fries. >> good food. process and technology. >> minecraft. >> ice cream. cake. a cup take. cupcake. >> what's the weirdest thing you're thankful for? >> the weirdest thing i'm thankful for is that my dad said something that made me laugh.
10:55 pm
>> there was a unicorn and the unicorn made a rainbow and the bumper fell off the car! >> bacon. pancakes. waffles. >> ipads. >> monsters. >> not flying united airlines, i hate them. always fly delta. >> chips. yogurt. >> what's the craziest thing you're thankful for? >> my ear plugs. >> how many ear plugs did your dog poop out? >> eight. >> corn. let does. lettuce. and that's it. >> every kid's doggie needs ear plugs. [ cheers and applause ] >> jimmy: you know that's really good advice. thank you, kids. tonight music from albert hammond jr.
10:56 pm
10:57 pm
hey! this holiday, u.s. cellular's giving you 50% more data than verizon and at&t for the same price. but i wanted a pony. [ gasps ] you're getting data. pony-sized data? no. u.s. cellular sized data. good, strong data you can actually use because it works in the middle of anywhere. i'd like $100! you're getting $400 in promo cards! yes! switch to u.s. cellular and get 50% more data than verizon and at&t. plus $400 per line. see ya soon. >> jimmy: >> jimmy: tonight from the new movie "the danish girl" amber
10:58 pm
heard is with us. he plays guitar and as solo artist, his latest album called "momentary masters," albert hammond jr. from the samsung stage. tomorrow night melissa mac did car though will join us. we're closing down hollywood boulevard for a free concert with one direction. [ cheers and applause ] harry, niles, liam -- and somebody will be there. our first guest has at least as many talents as names, probably more. he's a singer, actor, emmy emmy-winning tvmaker. starting friday you can see him celebrate christmas the new-fashioned way with seth roguen and anthony mackay in "the night before." >> all right, so i called the number on these tickets. they don't give out the address till like 10:00. so that gives us like several hours to hit as many christmas traditions as possible. >> nice. >> it's going to be the best
10:59 pm
>> so psyched, man, awesome. >> maybe it will be like the new christmas tradition! >> i don't know if we're really replacing this with another tradition. >> that's a joke, that's a joke. obviously that was a joke. i'm totally cool -- >> not obviously. >> jimmy: "the night before" opens in theaters friday. please say hello to joseph gordon-levitt! [ cheers and applause ] >> jimmy: good to see you. >> good to see you. [ cheers and applause ] >> jimmy: everybody's excited to see you. i was chatting with the audience and it occurred to me i should ask you, have you ever babysat? >> i'm the younger brother is the thing. my older brother used to babysit me. >> jimmy: you never got hired by a family to babysit?
11:00 pm
because you're on tv, you didn't need that $4 an hour. >> yeah, man. i was making that acting money. no, i mean, i'm a dad a now so i babysit my kid but it's not babysitting. >> you're not allowed to call it babysitting or you get in trouble, he's just a baby. >> jimmy: don't hire a boy to watch him. you can't let a young man in your home unattend, he'll go through everything. >> i'm a young man and i'm good at watching him. >> jimmy: you can be trusted at home. a young jimmy kimmel, for instance, cannot. i explained it to the audience. but it was filthy and i won't go into it. speaking of filthy -- >> yeah. [ cheers and applause ] >> jimmy: i saw your movie. it's very funny. >> thank you. i think it's so rated-r they're finding trouble to find pieces to put on television. >> jimmy: that's true. we're hag for a clip. oh, we can't show this. no, not that. we can't show this. >> no, they said that, can't show that. >> jimmy: finally a christmas movie the whole family can't go see together. >> exactly.
11:01 pm
the funny thing is it's a sweet movie. >> jimmy: it is. >> it's sweet about the time you spend with your buddies and when you're with your buddies you say inappropriate things that you can't say on television. you know? that's the honest truth. >> jimmy: in a way it is a love story. >> yes. >> jimmy: you have love for your friends. it's not the same kind of love that we typically see in one of these movies. >> yeah. >> jimmy: i don't want to tell too much about the movie. it doesn't really lend itself anyway to the movie. but it is -- there are drugs in it, there's seth rogen, of course there are drugs it in. he's legally required. how long have you been known seth rogen? >> seth and i were in "50/50." [ cheers and applause ] >> jimmy: is that how you met? >> yeah, that's how we met. i had to get involved with that movie really last minute. they had an emergency. and they had to cast me when there was like three days before shooting. >> jimmy: they forgot to cast somebody? >> exactly. they're like, oh, no, the star
11:02 pm
bwah! [ cheers and applause ] >> jimmy: so you came in. >> i came in super last minute. they sent me the script. i read it. i flew to vancouver to meet them that night. and we talked about, you know, the movie. believe it or not he's actually a very sharp and professional dude, seth is. >> jimmy: yes. >> i have witnessed that. >> jimmy: yeah. >> a couple of hours talking shop, we did go up to the roof and smoke a joint. >> jimmy: i was wondering. if you're in a business meeting with seth, you walk in and like the room's filled with smoke? or someone just starts smoking? >> we waited for a good, you know two, one hours. >> jimmy: i see. >> hour. before we started smoking. >> jimmy: that seems reasonable. >> well, no. because then on the night before when i showed up in new york, the way they do it is collaborative when they make these movies. everyone throws in -- >> jimmy: you can tell. all his movies feel very natural. >> exactly. >> jimmy: that's probably why. >> that is why.
11:03 pm
they do it in that kind of organic, chab rave way. i showed up and we all were there throwing in ideas to the script at the last minute. and there is definitely a joint being passed around the room. starting early in the day. >> jimmy: oh, really, okay. >> the first day i said, oh, i know how to smoke, i've smoked since i was a kid. >> jimmy: i know how to smoke. >> ircan can do this sure, it will inspire comedy. the comedy it inspires is maybe funny to me. >> jimmy: right. >> but it's worthless. >> jimmy: yeah. >> i decided to start smoking at the end of the day. >> jimmy: i see. >> after the work was done. >> jimmy: that's great advice for the young people out there. >> smoke at the end of the day. [ cheers and applause ] and then enjoy. >> jimmy: one of the highlights of the movie is you sing with mylie cyrus. >> i know. it was pretty fun. >> jimmy: she sang "wrecking ball." it think it's okay to say that. is that a song that you were familiar with beforehand?
11:04 pm
is hear that song once and it's very familiar for the rest of your life. >> jimmy: that is true. >> the rest of the summer. we sang it all day long. >> jimmy: it's more a meat hook than a wrecking ball. >> it doesn't go away. i'd be like in the shower, walking down the street, i'd be eating a bowl of cereal, anything at all. na na na dammit dammit, no! >> jimmy: when miley is onstage with you and you guys are singing together, do you feel any kind of -- this is like her -- this song is her biggest hit, probably, and also something that's very meaningful to her. and you're on -- do you feel any kind of pressure to -- >> i was bringing the meaning. i was bringing the heart too, jimmy, what are you implying? >> jimmy: kind of. >> what do you mean, kind nerve. >> jimmy: no, but yes, through a prism of -- >> of comedy, yeah, you're right. >> jimmy: exactly. was miley professional? did she get naked for you?
11:05 pm
>> jimmy: when she was here the last time she had -- she came out of the door and i had no idea she had almost no clothes on. >> is that right? >> jimmy: yeah. >> that was not my experience. >> jimmy: that did not happen? >> no, no. the truth is like she and i both started working in show business when we were little kids. and i found that she was completely down to earth and professional and did a great job and maybe that's different than sort of her image that she plays when she goes on tv. >> jimmy: right. >> i found that really comforting. and i was like, that's good, i'm glad that you're doing so well and keep doing your thing. >> jimmy: when you meet other people who were stars when they were children, is there a bond between you? >> there's a secret handshake and everything, yeah. >> jimmy: sure. >> yeah, we had that common experience. >> jimmy: there's only a small handful of you that aren't in prison right now. >> that's true. me, miley, elijah wood, fred savage, doing great. >> jimmy: that's about it.
11:06 pm
>> that's rail it. that's really it. >> jimmy: are you excited about the holidays? >> of course. >> jimmy: especially with a new baby. that's a lot of fun. >> yeah. >> jimmy: although too small for opening gifts. >> he doesn't understand the holidays yet. >> jimmy: he doesn't understand. do you have a big family gathering? >> yeah, of course. we get together. i mean, here's the thing. both my parents are jewish. >> jimmy: oh. >> so -- >> jimmy: so you hate it. >> whoo! whee! >> jimmy: they celebrate hanukkah? >> yeah, but when i hear the word christmas, i know that it's an important religious holiday for lots of people. when i hear the word christmas it doesn't mean religious things but it's still very meaningful to me. it's the end of the year, it's the winter holidays, it's when i get to see my friends, they come back into town. i love it, of course. >> jimmy: yeah. to a lot of people it's an american holiday. >> exactly. >> jimmy: some people might not even -- probably kids have no idea, they think it's santa's
11:07 pm
birthday or something. >> sure. isn't that -- there's something beautiful about that in the united states of america where there's lots of different people with lots of different cultures but we all come together and celebrate in the winter, we call it christmas, ana ka -- >> jimmy: except the part where we beat the crap out of each other at walmart for the paninimaker, yes, it's a beautiful occasion. it's great to see you, movie is very funny. 11:19 pm
the things you'd eat. he'd shoot your peanut butter and jelly sandwiches sometimes. >> buckshot and peanut butter, i just thought it came that way. >> jimmy: that is kind of how it should come. a lot of kids think the steak is just something that's wrapped up at the super market. >> i know. i never was -- i never had any misconceptions about how the steak got there. unfortunately. i saw it. but, you know. my dad, when he learned that there's this like health -- you know, that i care about my health and i'm living in california so obviously. when i learned what organic meant, he latched on to it, now he's obsessed with telling everyone that he fed us all organic our entire lives which is why we never got sick. what he means is he killed our food. >> jimmy: right, yeah. but he technically -- technically he is right. >> is he? i guess he is. >> jimmy: it's not like he
11:20 pm
unless he was going around to a big company farm and shooting their animals. >> might have happened. yes. he brags about it all the time. >> jimmy: what would he bring home? what would you eat? >> he's a bird hunter so it was mostly quail, dove, pheasant. >> jimmy: you really did have buckshot in your food from time to time. >> yeah. you know, weirdly, everyone asks me that. everybody who has an experience of eating food that was recently killed talks about the puck shot. buckshot. i don't know, the weird thing is -- i don't remember ever having to deal with the buckshot. >> jimmy: your dad was probably good at cleaning the birds is probably what it was. >> or i just thought they were crunchy, i don't know. i didn't know. i can't go through airports anymore. >> jimmy: right. it's like having a filling come out and swallowing it. now, this is a story, apparently

your dad pulled a prank on you. first of all, this is a beautiful car. what year mustang is this? >> '68 mustang. >> jimmy: this is a car you've had for how long? >> 12 years. >> jimmy: 12 years. it got stolen how many times? >> three, four if you count this. they stole my car. >> jimmy: did you have a club on it? how would they steal the car each time? >> well, i mean, i would upgrade my system of security only to be -- >> jimmy: foiled each time. how would you get it back? >> we found it three times. one time it took six months. but they got it. >> jimmy: yeah, that's pretty crazy. [ cheers and applause ] >> yeah, they gutted it pretty good the last time. it crushed me pretty good. but this time is different. they took it -- my dad did this overhauling thing. they took my car. >> jimmy: you thought it was stolen and then when it came

back -- as pranks go this is a pretty damn good one. [ cheers and applause ] >> jimmy: now you have this beautiful, perfect car. are you even able to drive it anymore? >> nope. >> jimmy: no, yeah. because you have to worry about it now. now it's really going to get stolen too. that's the other thing. >> i know. >> jimmy: i saw "the danish girl," great movie. beautifully done. and the story is really -- i had no idea. tell what happened in 1926. >> you know, this story follows a couple. but primarily this artist named ina vena. he went through a sex change operation successfully. >> the first one? >> the first one. and -- in the '20s. and it's a love story about his relationship and his life and the process of undergoing that kind of transition. >> jimmy: you shot this movie when? >> february.

meantime, all this tension came to the subject because primarily caitlyn jenner, then a movie from 1926 that's weirdly topical now. >> it's ironic in some ways that it's very relevant today. and also i have to say i'm really happy to be part of a movie that is, you know, a part of this -- pushing this conversation forward that we're having right now. it's exciting that we're ready to have it. but it also illuminates the fact that we have a long way to go in so many ways. and it's shocking but in 32 states right now, you can be fired from your job for being trans gender. >> jimmy: is that right? >> yeah. and it's legal. you have no legal recourse available to you. that's in 32 states. >> jimmy: and this happened 90 years ago? >> this story. >> jimmy: before the e! network, even. >> right. >> jimmy: that's a really long time. the movie came out great. >> thank you.
