an abandoned dog is getting a new leash on life and a new job in central iowa. and it's partially thanks to a 5-year-old from ankeny. this week, tristan sommerfeld welcomed the newest member of the ankeny police force. bosco is a 1-year-old lab mix and is ready to sniff out crime in polk county. tristan lped raise money to train bosco and bring him to iowa from a

rescue shelter in indiana. instead of asking for presents on his october birthday, he asked for donations to go to the police department's k-9 fuud. altogether, tristan's friends and family donated more than 15- hundred dollars. "it's paying it forward and gifting to the community and the superheroes we call the police and the fire department and the people that serve.
