the about 60 are going to attend a legislative oversight committee meeting at the capitol. governor r rry branstad's plan to privatize calls for four out-of-state companies to manage iowa's medicaid system, january 1st. the state's 560-thousand users have until december 17th to sign up for one of the four plans within the new system. the governor said increased medicaid costs, which have e one up 73 percent since 2003, are e iving the switch. branstad says the change could save the state $51 million in the first six months. kcrg-tv9's forrest saunders is live this morning in the truenorth parking lot. forrest, this group doesn't think iowa is ready for this change? concerns: our stance is delay. as medicaid members we haven't had time to consider what managed care really is because the information timeline is ridiculously fast

kirkwood court apartments on the southwest side. police responded to reports of multiple shots at the apartment building at 341 kirkwood court southwest around 7 o'clock last night. authorities found a man with a gunshot wound and took him to the hospital. he is expected to be ok. police tell tv-9 they have not arrested anyone. waterloo police arereearching for t t person who stabbed a man, putting him in the hospital. the man told ficers that someone had stabbed him near elm street and independence avenue on the city's east side late yesterday morning. he later went to the hosostal for treaeaent. he is expected to be ok. a waterloo man who was convicted of killing a man behind an apartment building is asking for a new trial. 24-year-old perquondis holmes is accused of killing an 18-year-old man in november of 20-13. according to the waterloo cedar falls courier, holmes say some facebook photos shouldn't have been allowed during the trial.l.he pipiures showed him and another man using gang

minimum just to get in the door. josh christenson will have reaction from the team next hour in sports. in a tv-9 follow-up this morning.. more than 100-thousand dollars will help provide meals to seniors in eastern iowa. the heritage area agency on aging raised the money during t t fill the plate telethon last night on kcrg-9.2. organizers say they've raised 105,921 dollars for senioio to get meals from congregate and delivery sites. the agency's tim getty says he's shocked by the amount they've raised. he says almost every penny will go to providing those meals to senior citizens. "they've underwritten the vastst mmority production of this large effort. i'm pleased to announce that every dollar that's raised. almost $100,000 alone is going to go toward the meals. so there's no cost taken out ofofhat.
