responded to 518 locust street just before 1-30 this morning. commander says the victim is expected to be o-k and they have not arrested anyone. school are dealing with apparent problems removing washington high school. a dnr report will force the district and the company to meet with the environmental protection months. get a say at the meetinin the d-n-r wants this to go to the attorney general's office for enforcement action. the school district responded to the findings by saying the district is not aware of anyone who has tested positive for asbestos as a result of their presence on the job site. we reached out to abatement specialties - the company named in the investigation and it failed to return our calls. we spoke with an asbestos removal company in waterlrl that is not related to this case. advanced environmental testing and abatement incorporated says it works every day to make sure they are safely disposing of the mineral at

" 20:36:27 just keeping the fibers from releasing. any time we do asbestos you need to use wet removal. that's a crucial part of it. you just don't want visible emissions. so again, if you are taking some floor tile up off the basement or a school, we mist the floor beforordoing it." the company says it carefully seals the asbestos material inside a bag or container and disposes of it. we're told the goais to make sure the air is all clear by the time they're dodoe, so no one is expopod. a cedar rapids teenager will spend at least 4 years in a juvenile facility for killing at 15- year-old. 4& 14-year-old robert humbles shot and killed

at the district headquarters. the district defines equity as improving instruction for all students. and the summit was a way for school leaders tshare thr best practiti for helping on goals, such as closing the student achievement gap. for example, the iowa assessments show 49% of african-american students in the district's elementary schls are not at grade level for reading. that's more than double the rate of white students behind in reading. "so we want to push those top students and accelerate the bottom students within that gap. that was an interesting part of the equity summit process because every building has a different goal that's specific to their building." the district will hold equity summits like this twice each h hool year, and it's planning f f the next one to be in may or june. in a tv-9 follow-up this morning.. parents who use a child care service at a cedar rarads church may have to find another option. st. paul's united methodist
