managed care organizations, or mco's. that's because new changes mean providers have through march to sign those contracts and still get paid for services. for the muters family, choosing an mco, without knowing where her doctors will go creates care problems. 23:01 "being an older parents now and still having younger children, that is a big concern. who is going to care for them if something happens to us? who else can do this? how are we going to educate someone quickly and help them know what his needs are." medicaid beneficiaries are able to change their mco choice for any reason within 90 days of today's deadline. people are getting more time to sign up for obamacare. due to high demand, the deadline to get health insurance under the affordable care act is now 2 a-m friday.

the days leading to the original deadline. that was yesterday morning. car driving, hands up, gun shots this police dash-cam video shows the cedar rapids officer- involved shooting of kyle orth earlier this year. the shooting happened at the end of an early morning chase in which police say orth was driving recklessly. kcrg-tv9's bruce aune walks us through the chase and shooting with video from a police vehicle dash cam. it was about two a-m on march 29th when police spotted a bmw moving recklessly and speeding on a avenue northeast. when police tried to pull him over, orth drove off... that led to th pursuit. here this police squad car backs up to pull into an alley between center point road and daniels street northeast where you see the b-m-w speeding

crashes into a utility pole... you can hear police officers yelling. "hey, put your hands up. put your hands up." but the car lurches forward... right at the officers who start shooting. "gunshots" the officers pull the wounded orth from the car and take him to the ground where they cuff him. all the while orth is yelling back at police in disbelief. "why did i get shot? i didn't try to run anybody over!" orth received treatment for non-life threatening gunshot wounds. orth later admitted he was intoxicated that night. a female passenger in the car also was injured, but not seriously. kcrg-tv9's bruce aune with that report. orth accepted a plea deal earlier this month on charges of drunk driving and attempting to elude. he also pleaded no contest to interference with intent to inflict injury. a judge sentenced him to 180 days in jail and three years probation. the officers

shots were found to be justified in using deadly force. in a tv-9 follow-up this morning.. the iowa attorney general's office says a waterloo officer was justified in shooting at a man last month. the iowa division of criminal investigation says police were trying to arrest brandon seeley for meth possession. police say he led them on a high speed chase and when a waterloo officer got out of his car, seeley drove directly at him. that's when the officer shot at him. seeley drove away and officers later arrested him at his girlfriend's house. he faces drug possession, eluding and assault charges. the attorney general's office is withholding the name of the officer because of his position with the tri-county drug task force. benton county authorities have a person in custody this morning after a multi county chase. authorities tried to get to the driver a couple miles west of atkins. that was at 69th street and 30th avenue at about 12:10 this morning. that started a chase that led them into linn county.

authorities caught the driver at 18th street and 33rd avenue. no one was hurt. two 18-year-olds are facing felony charges after an armed robbery in dubuque. brandon finley and quan jackson of milwaukee are accused of robbing a man at gunpoint at his apartment. the man wasn't hurt, but police say the suspects took his wallet and cell phone. police later arrested the two on a first-degree robbery charge at a residence hall on the university of dubuque campus. the robbery happened around 1:45 yesterday morning at an apartment on 25-45 dodge street. police think a third person was likely involved. but, say the person does not pose an immediate danger to the public. a couple of key republican presidential candidates will make campaign stops in eastern iowa today. this follows the final debate of the year for the 14 gop candidates. doctor ben carson is one of those candidates visiting the state. this morning, he will stop in

event at 9. then he'll head to mason city and spencer for events later today. the latest abc news/ washington post poll shows carson in 4th place with 12 percent support. meanwhile, senator marco rubio is ahead of carson in that poll with 12 point 6 percent support. he is also in eastern iowa today. rubio will talk to voters in muscatine at 11. then he will go to a meet and greet event in knoxville. donald trump also has a visit planned this weekend. that means the top 4 republican candidates followed up their debate performance with a trip to iowa except ted cruz. carly fiorina, john kasich, and mike huckabee also plan to be here this weekend. they all have less than 3 percent support. democratic presidential frontrunner hillary clinton is critizing donald trump's plan to ban muslim visitors from the country. 1:30-1:40 "basically accusing one and half billion people of beinig terrorists, which is kind of the under current of what is

firefighter who died from an accident last friday while working on a car in his garage. sirens/horns of trucks coming into mechanicsville this long procession of fire trucks escorted cook to his funeral yesterday at the mechanicsville fire department. friends say cook had been a firefighter for three decades and was always the first to help people in the community. his family says one of his favorite sayings about life was, "it's all about creating memories." " next to his family, the next important thing was his community and the fire department. whether it was helping friends. two weeks ago someone said he stopped and helped me roof my house, he drove by and seen us out working and stopped the help." the truck that carried his casket was one he restored. more than a dozen fire departments took part in yesterday's ceremony, including cedar rapids. the eventual closure of the sheltered workshop at options of linn county has led

options for people with disabilities. a federal rule change means options will phase out the sheltered workshop program sometime next year. many of the people who worked in it have switched to a day habilitation program that includes opportunities for volunteerism. one small group recently helped repair books that police will give to kids. "and i think the skills people are using in this capacity really keep those work skills available...people do eventually want to work again and have those skills available to them.
