campaign event in coralville. the former president will speak to voters at northwest junior high school at 6:45 tonight. he's hoping to convince iowa caucus goers to vote for hillary, who is the current frontrunner in the field of democratic presidential candidates. there are just 2 and a half weeks left until the iowa caucuses. for the democratic presidential candidates, their next debate is this sunday night. hillary clinton, bernie sanders, and martin o'malley will be on the stage in charleston, south carolina, for the nbc news-youtube debate. the network says o'malley has qualififd for the debate, despite his low poll numbers. he has been averaging 4 point 6 percent in iowa and candidates needed at least 5 percent to be on stage. the gloves are off. with less than 3 eks until the iowa caucuses, g- o-p presidential candidates are going above and beyond to sway voters. in last night's g-o-p debate, the candidates turned their attention#to hillary clinton. the top 7 candidates took the mama stage, with chris christie, jeb bush, and marco rubio all claiming clinton would not make a good president.

and ted cruz - took swings at eacacother. trump is claiming cruz is not eligible for the presidency because cruz was born in canada. debate, and the candidate gained the second largest following of all the candidates. the iowa county sheriff's office says a piece of dangerous road on highway 212 may have contributed d a crash that killed a teenage mother and her son. 18-year-old bethany clark, of belle plaine, and her two-year-old son roran ... ... were traveling on highway 212, about five miles west of marengo, around 7 o'clock yesterday morning. the iowa county sheriff's office says clark lost control of the car on the frost- covered road. the car went into a ditch and caught fire. both died at t scene. the sheriff's depapament says this area is more prone to accidents because drivers tend not to notice the slight curve. according to data from the iowa department of transportation, this is the first fatal crash to happen on this curve. there have only been two other crashes here before, one in 2005 and one in 2010. neither of those were major. but the iowa county sheriff says the layeof frost most likely caused clark to crash. frost was also a factor in a two-vehicle crash that sent three people to the

fayette county. it happened just before eight yesterday morning at highway 150 and 190th street. that's just south of west union. the fayette county sheriff's office says 23 year old sara shaffer of waterloo lost control of her car and crashed into another vehicle. first responders used the jaws of life to remove the driver from that second vehicle... 46- year-old kellie blanchard of west union. they airlifted her to a hospital with serious injuries. shaffer and her passenger also went to the hospital. law enforcement agencies across eastern iowa are working together to reduce gun violence. cedar rapids police hosted a summit that included police chiefs from a half- dozen cities. the city y s seen an increase in shots fired incidents over a five-year period. in 2009, there were 17 shootings - including two homicides. that number jumped to 93 shootings in 2014, with eight homicides. kcrg-tv9's chris earl tells how that group of police chiefs and a u-s attorney hope to change things.

remains a component of everyday life in some parts of the country, even at times in eastern iowa. just last weekend, three separate shootings on the east side of cedar rapids didn't kill anyone -- but served as a reminder of the threat. " tv-9's chris earl with that story. chief trelka, from waterloo, said these law enforcement units have agreed to continue talks like this on a regular basis. a federal judge ordered the release of a police video that shows another deadly police shooting of an unarmed black teen in chicago. 17- year -old cedric chatman was suspected of car jacking and ran away from officers. that's when police shot him four times. officers say chatman was pointing a dark object at them and shot in self defense. it turned out to be a black iphone. people gathered to protest against the police. "today, we're taking back chicago. this will not

syssmic problems have got to stop." police blamed chatman's two accomplices, who were 10 blocks away, for the teen's murder. they later pleaded guilty to lesser crimes. the officers did not face criminal charges and kept their jobs. now they are facing a wrongful death lawsuit. a group of people will become americans today at the national czech and slovak museum. people will participate in a naturalization ceremony at 1:30 this afternoon. these ceremonies happen at different places around eastern iowa, but less frequently at the czech museum. the ceremonies typically include music and taking the oath of citizenship. the episcopal church is facing a suspension for its stance on same-sex marriage. iowa's bishop says this means "real pain" for many of the church's 9- thousand iowa members. in june - episcopalians across the country voted to change church law - allowing same-sex marriage. the anglican
