candidate carly fiorina will be in eastern iowa today. she's speaking at a presidential candidate forum at wartburg college. thaha will be e om 8:30 until 10 this morning. fiorina hasn't been polling well, pushing her to the undercard debate last week. democrat hillary clinton is telling voters she will improve the affordable care act. in toledo last night she also talked about making education more affordable. the former secretary of state also told supporters she'll be able to work with republican lalaakers on capitol hill. " i don't sugercoat it. it's hard but you have to find common ground with people with whom you disagree with on so many issues. that's what i've done." recently released campaign ads are targeting marco rubio saying he'sissed key votes and heariis. the gazette and kcrg-tv9 fact check team tested the claims of this pac which

has the results. ad: marco rubio was missing the ad from right to rise points out instances when marco rubio missed national security briefings for campaign events. then it adds this... "over the last three years, rubio has missed more total votes than any other senator." gov-track, a website that tracks congressiona l votes, shows rubio missed 177 votes, out of 11-hundred. that's more than 15- percent. most of those missed votes were in 2015, after rubio announced his bid for president. during last year alone, rubio missed almost one out of every three votes. data shows that's not uncommon for presidential candidates. fellow republican ted cruz missed about 24 percent of votes last year and lindsey graham, who has since dropped out of the race, missed 29 percent of votes. but rubio has missed the most over the three year period, which is why we give this ad an 'a' a pro- marco rubio pac, called conservative solutions, countered with an ad of its own making

the process secure. if something goes wrong, the parties say a separate call system will act as a backup to get results into des moines. a few presidential candidates will attend the iowa renewable fuels summit today. republicans donald trump, carly fiorina, and rick santorum plan to speak. theyy will give their opinion on renewable fuels like biodiesel and ethanol. governor terry branstad and lieutenant governor kim reynolds will also speak, as well as former governor and ag secretary tom vilsack. this summit is today at prairie meadows in altoona. today, voters in johnson county will fill a vacancy on the board of supervisors. lisa green-douglass and chris hoffman are vying for the empty seat on the five- member board. terrence neuzil left the position for a job in kalamazoo, michigan. the winner will serve the rest of neuzil's term and be up for public vote again in november. polls open at seven this morning and will close at nine tonight. the college community school district is trying to approve a

referendum... again. this s ter the voters shot down the last referendum in april, by a mere 58 votes. kcrg-tv9's forrest saunders is live at prairie view elementary school in cedar rapids. forrest, supporters of the bond got enough signatures to bring it back for a vote february 2nd. how much money is the district looking for. cole, they are askininfor 49 and a half million dollars. the reason? growth. the district says student enrollment has outgrown their current facility. this gives you an idea. in 2014, 291 students graduated. in 2018, about 410 will graduate. passage of the bond would meme the disisict's property tax rate would increase about 32 cents to $16.13 per thousand dollars of valuation. that's actually 81 cents lower than originally estimated, seeing as the board has agreed to commit 6- million in one cent sales tax funds. in the end, the new rate would

property taxes $17.50 per year for a home assessed at 100-thousand dollars. the money is going a lot of places. the big ones, more classroom space. improved safety and security. replacing obsolete mechanical and electric systems. adding more parking and public space. we'll get more into that in our next half hours. in cedar rapids, forrest saunders, kcrg-tv9 news. cedar r rids police are lookiki for someone who shot at a house. police were called to the intersection of 12th street and j avenue northeast last night for a report of gunfire. officers arrived at about 9:30 last night. they searched outside a home for any evidence and found shell casings. police say no one was hurt and they are still investigating. one manans in the hospital this morning after a crash in black hawk county. sheriff's deputies responded to the 58- hundred block of independence avenue around 9:30 last night.

oelwein rolled over into a ditch after avoiding a head on crash at the round-about. first responders took him to allen hospital, and then he was transported to u-i-h-c. the accident is under investigation. in a tv-9 follow-up this morning.. a space heater likely caused a fire that killed a mother and her three children a small town n bbne county, north of des moines. that's according to a preliminary investigation. crws responded to the fire in boxholm shshtly before 1 o'ccck sunday morning. sub-zero temperatures, caused some pumps and trucks to freeze. firefighters found the bodies of 27-year-old amber sorenson and her three kids inside the home. a massive fire destroyed a decades-old warehouse in fort dodge. it broke out shortly after noon yesterday. crews say the fire was difficult tfight because there were 6-thousand tires burning inside. one firefighter was hurt but is expected to be ok. a cedar rapids landlord trying to thaw out frozen pipes started a
