this race for the white house. at this hour, the results of the democratic caucuses in nevada are in. based on our analysis the vote, abc news is projecting hillary clinton will win that contest with more than 80% of the vote already in, clinton holding about a four-point lead. enthuse i am for the caucuses so high, the lines wrapping around this high school in henderson. hillary clinton celebrating the win. the battle neck and neck in south carolina, too. the drama still very high. republican voters at this hour, still at polling stations. 30 minutes to go. donald trump topping all the polls going in, but tonight, the urgent question who will take second and third place. we have team coverage in both races. we begin with abc chief anchor george stephanopoulos here with me. george, those democratic caucuses, you're following them all, what are you seeing?

the nomination. it's hers to lose right now. nevada did what it had to do for her. it w w the firewall after that big loss to bernie sanders in new hampshire. we have some clues as to why from voters. the voters valued experience and electability. e won 92% of the votes of those who wanted experience. 80% valuing electability. look at this number as well. those who made up their minds in the last three days, head over hearts, hillary clinton 51% to 37%. she now hehes into south carorona, big lead there, next saturday, and has a huge lead in a lot of those big super tuesday states in march. >> fire wall right there. you're also followininearly republican numbers. the exit polls telling you what so far? >> the polls are open until 7:00. one of the striking numbers, from those exit polls, a full 53% of voters in that south carolili primary feel betrayed by republican politicians. that's one of the themes we have

what would say to the bernie >> he'll make a great vice president. >> reporter: the tiebreaker a deck of card. clinton winning this one, drawing the highest card. sanders has spoken with clinton and congratulated her. in a statement, he thanks the people of nevada for the boost they have given him, saying he has the wind at his back as he heads toward super tuesday. >> mary, thank you. we turn now to south carolina. the polls still open in the republican primary there. turnout has been steady across the state all day long. and abc's tom llamas is covering this side of the storyry he joins us from trump watch party in spartanburg. how confident are they feeling in there tonight, tom? >> reporter: very confident. it was a very interesting with him. first, he tangled with the pope.

>eporter: a super pacac supporting ted cruz on the offense, sending out this robocall telling voters trump was critical of the confederate fl. >> trump talks about our flag ke it's a social disease. >> reporter: cruz in washington today for supreme court justice antonin scalia's funeral. last night telling voters to ignore any news that isn't pro cruz. >> if they're ououphone calls, you should listen to them. if they're anyone else's, hang up. >> reporter: and jeb bush fighting hard to survive in south carolina. looking forward to nevada, but not ruling out changing his plans if he has a weak finish. what's the plan going forward? >> the plan's to go to vegas around noon. >> could anything change that plan? >> we'll see. we'll see. i don't think so. >> cecilia, the rubio campaign is feeling confident. but the cruz campaign has shown they're running a very efficient campaign with a very good ground game and a super pac that's very

the edge. >> tom, thank you. as trump heads into south carolina ahead off his challengers, a win, his second victory in a row, jonathan karl joining us from washington. would this give him momentum to come out ahead on super tuesday. >> a trump victory in south carolina would be in a word, cecilia, huge. if he wins tonighgh following that landslide victory he had in new hampshire, trump would solidify himself as a front-runner. with a big lead in delegates. but sececilia could get harder for trump in the coming weeks.

party in november. and john deere profits remain on a downward spiral. we check their latest earnings report. you're watching kcrg-tv9. now, from your 24 hour news source, this is kcrg-tv9 news at 6. a gymnastics competition is drawing more than two thousand peoeoe to the coralville area this weekend. it's happening at the coralville conference center on the iowa river landing. that's where we find kcrg- tv9's sarah mccarthy. sarah, events like this may become evennigger in the future because of a planneded project there? brady, this winter invitational is in its sixth year. people from all over the midwest travel here to compete and chehe on more than 600 athletes. but the gym who hosts the meet says finding a space that works is challenging. right now, the event is too big to hahaen in most school gyms.

to need a space like carver hawkeye arena. the coralville marriott is really the only space available right now. but it's not perfect - especially if the meet continues to grow. organizers say having another option may help attract more teams to the area.
