well, chris and nicole the roads right now are pretty slick. i am . here we got a mix of rain and snow which made for the wet roads. but more snow is sticking. we are heading toward independence where we

one person is in the hospital after an early morning fire. the cedar rapids fire department responded to 702 9th street sw just before 2 a-m. fire crews said they got the flames under control as of 2:30 but were looking for hotspots. officials are uncertain what the cause is yet but have called out an investigator. we do not know the condition of the person injured at this time. today will be the biggest test for the remaining presidential candidates. it's super tuesday, meaning there are more delegates at stake today than any other single day in the primary season. taking a look at the delegate assignments so far according to bloomberg politics... for the democrats, hillary clinton leads with 448 and 358 of those are super delegates. bernie sanders has 80 with 15 super delegates. on the republican side, donald trump has 81 delegates. ted cruz and marco rubio are tied with 17. ben carson and john

in the hours leading up to today, cruz and rubio tried to make up ground behind trump. the republican frontrunner also came under fire from his own party. one g-o-p representativ e from nebraska says he hopes the election doesn't come down to trump and hillary clinton. "i am not voting for hillary clinton. given what we know about donald trump, i can't vote for him either. i took an oath to protect, defend the constitution. if those are the two major party nominees, and i hope they're not, i have to look for a third party option. " clinton focused her efforts on attacking the g-o-p and not sanders, who is still confident he can win the nomination. while iowa's caucuses were exactly one month ago, some eastern iowans are heading to the polls today for local votes. voters in ainsworth will choose a new city council member today. the mayor resigned in january -- which lead to the appointment of a city council member to that position. the polls are open from noon to 8 pm today at the ainsworth fire station. while voters in kalona will

a new community center. city leaders say the current building is run down and needs to be renovated. the $3.9 million dollar bond would cost a taxpayer with a home assessed at $100,000 dollars, an extra $92.34 per year. a new vendor is making its home at newbo city market in cedar rapids this spring. matthew 25 will set up shop in the permanent vendor section of the market. the non-profit is already preparing for the growing season by starting plants for the urban farm on the city's produce at the newbo space. they sell it for half price to income-eligible families and full price to "21:55:16 we hope it will increase the number of families we serve. that more people will be able to get access and hopefully long term maybe this will lead to us getting more people." the organization also wants this to become an educational opportunity. "21:54:00 at the urban farm we have african immigrants that

to start their own business, so this will be a place where they can sell some of their produce and really learn what it's like." the organization says it'll be inside the city market each thursday from 4 until 8 from may through november. newbo says it hopes the group will continue serving produce after that as well. it's restaurant week in cedar rapids! it kicks off during lunch today, with the theme " the hungry games" the event is a way to recognize the best restaurants this area has to offer. kcrg-tv9's brea love join us at the desk this morning. brea, the week involves a social media competition? yes, it's the competition, before the competition. foodies can dine at more than two dozen participating restaurants. they will be served special menu items, at special prices, and then vote for their favorites. and the top four, get to compete to see who is the best in cedar rapids. preparations are underway, and plates are being perfected. while this may be the third year for restaurant week, it's zepplin's

"trying to keep things fun, show a little bit of the talent that the kitchen staff has in the kitchen, and be able to give our regular costumers something new." it's using dishes like sticky beef short ribs, glazed with soy caramel to come out on top. something you wouldn't see on the normal menu. "people always like to see that little extra step and when you put a lot of different flavors onto a plate, as long as they combine to make one wonderful plate." zepplin's and 28 other participating restaurants hope those wonderful plates send them to the top chef style, dinner of champions competition on march 10th. there the best restaurant in cedar rapids will be crowned. about a call to support local. margins are very small, they don't have huge ad budgets, huge marketing budgets, so to be able to do things this engaging, this fun, that brings in the social element, that brings in the competition element, the restaurants are really excited about it." oathout says restaurant week is something very important for local food. "there's so many restaurants that are family owned, small businesses, they're supporting families, and you have a lot of these people that come in every single day and they're just pouring their hearts out, giving all of their passion and all of their soul into trying to make that business work every single day."

buildings. police think these phrases popped up sometime between february 20th and 21st. two downtown businesses were also affected, "d and d body shop" and hills bank. the police chief thinks they're all connected and security footage suggests multiple vandals. police say they don't have any suspects, but do have some leads. if you have any information you can call linn county crime stoppers. the finalists are in for march's kcrg-tv9 student of the month. our first student is jimena fierro perez. she's a 13 year old from west liberty middle school. jimena loves computer science and helped start a technology club for girls in 6th - 8th grade. she's involved in music and athletics and is working hard in school for the opportunity to go to college. next up, a senior from keota high school, grace shemanski. the 18 year old is a regular on the honor roll and is involved in numerous activities in and out of school, including 4-h, fine arts and athletics. she has also worked as an intern
