win: ne 5-10anks kaj. presidential candidates donald trump and hillary clinton proved the polls were right with big wins on super tuesday. the other candidates have not dropped out of the race -- at least not to this point. the associated press has declared hillary clinton the winner in 7 states from super tuesday results. she now has 544 delegates. a democratic candidate needs 2,383 to win. bernie sanders won in 4 states. he has 349 delegates. donald trump has taken 7 states. he now has 285 delegates, and he would need 1,237 to

texas, oklahoma, and alaska and now has 160 delegates. marco rubio won in minnesota and is at 87 delegates. john kasich and ben carson remain low in the delegate count. despite trump's continuing lead for the republican nomination, the competitors finishing behind trump are not stepping aside in the chase. the ohio governor kasich says he is confident he will win his own state. while rubio and cruz say dropping out isn't encouraged at this point. "it is my hope as republicans that we come together because if we don't and donald trump wins this nomination, i think the results for the next generation would be extraordinarily dire. " "there will never come a time in this race where our supporters are asking us to get out and rally around donald trump. what people are saying is fight as hard as you can to save the party of lincoln and reagan from a con artist who refuses to criticize the kkk. megyn kelly as a moderator. donald trump has not announced if he will participate. he boycotted the last debate kelly hosted because of their ongoing feud. one man is in the hospital this morning after a stabbing in waterloo. police were called to the 6-hundred block of west 2nd street just after 11 o'clock last night for a possible assault. once they arrived, they found out it was a stabbing. police say one person is in custody right now, but won't release that person's name. the injured man is expected to be okay. fire crews in marion are trying to figure out what caused a fire in a basement. it happened at 23-35 daleview drive around 7 o'clock yesterday evening. when crews arrived, they found the basement full of smoke. they were able to contain the fire to the room where it started and quickly put it out. no one was hurt. in a tv-9 follow-up this morning.. the iowa city city council will not give funds to a controversial piece of artwork on the ped mall. the council shot down a plan to

to the iowa city downtown district to hire a professional fundraiser for "the lens" project. the plane called for the 30-foot tall sculpture to go up in black hawk mini park, at the north end of the ped mall. last night's city council meeting went passed midnight. they denied the funding in a 5-2 vote. several people spoke in favor of the council awarding the money. nancy bird with the downtown district says this isn't the end for the sculpture. " sot: "i think what happens is that if the fundraising isn't there, the city has to figure out a way to raise money through public private partnership, and we will be there, however i think it's possible and will move forward.. " the city council also decided to push back a vote on bringing uber to iowa city to march 23rd. the city has started talking with the ride sharing service, and the two sides agree that a potential change to city code could work. many showed up in support of

"i really love what uber represents and its not just necessarily just uber although i do use their app. its really about innovation, its about progress and about supporting new ideas and welcoming them into this community." the amendment would require uber to get a business license from the city. that would allow the ride-sharing service to checks and vehicle screenings. the iowa house is considering a bill that would eliminate front license plates. the department of transportation says the change would save more than 500 thousand dollars each year. law enforcement is skeptical. they say removing the front license plate would make it harder for them to do their job. authorities use front and rear license plates for tracking vehicles in criminal investigations . they also say it helps identify people involved in amber alerts. "you take that front plate off, it makes it tough to get that identification and feedback from the public. 12:34 12:35 you've got several vehicles with similar make and model and

" the iowa automobile dealers association supports this bill, saying new cars aren't made with holes for a front license plate. the iowa d-o-t hasn't taken a nationwide, 19 states do not require a front license plate. the mount vernon city council is thinking about banning nicotine in parks and outdoor facilities. at the last council meeting, the city's parks and recreation board presented a ordinance. the coalition, "rural communities rising above the influence in linn," or r-c rail, found 200 incidents of nicotine usage in mount vernon parks in one day. the next step will be drafting an ordinance and voting on it. the city administrator says that might not happen until this summer. one woman is frustrated with a recent announcement from the food and drug administration. brittany dougan recently had surgery to get the essure birth control removed. they're tiny coils doctors put into in the fallopian tubes.

to give readers an alternative perspective? that's right. that founder, u-i junior shawn boursiquot says he felt the lack of diversity on campus was hindering his literary voice. he and a group of friends worked hard with the university to address those concerns. 31:36 "it's real, i think that's what's so appealing to me, it's real." real stories, by real students. personal stories about pain, struggle, and triumphs. 31:08 "it kind of gave me more insight to someone you think you know, which i think is powerful thing about literature, expressing in ways you can't always do." which is something he felt black students, needed. 32:20 "you're in the creative writing mecca, iowa city, but then you come here nd it doesn't feel that way for certain students." that's why he came up with the idea of a literary magazine, he worked with friends to outline and tweek it, and get the o-k. and the university backs them 100 percent. 36:41 "i think it was definitely needed. i think it was something that gives students, black students a voice that is not traditionally given to them in different literary magazines on
