committee toward the end of its meeting later this afternoon. the committee is also speaking with the managed care organizations or m-c-o's about any possible improvements. data released on friday showed those organizations all paid at least two thirds of medical claims in the month of june. amerigroup had the highest rate with 88 percent paid. united healthcare was the worst with 67 percent. that trend reversed for pharmacy claims with united healthcare paying 70 percent of claims tha was last with 57 percent of claims paid. during the summer, a lot of us get busy with vacations, family get togethers and back to school. with people being so busy, blood donation centers take a hit. the red cross says donations are critically low and hope to address that need through a blood drive today. kcrg-tv nine's brea love joins us live from the cedar rapids marriott. brea, what does the red cross want to get out the the

to decide what do with a donated house. the property is right next to the worker house and needs some improvements before the nonprofit can use it. to help pay for those improvements, the worker house held its first-ever fundraiser at quarter barrel downtown. twenty percent of the purchases made during the

worker house helps people with food and shelter. organizers say the need for shelters is big. "right now we only have one or two shelters where single women can go to, and i know that they are opening a third shelter, and once they get that one open it will relieve some of the stress, but i think that we stay at our capacity every single day. " organizers were trying to raise more than $10,000 dollars at last night's event. an already congested part of 1st avenue in cedar the city is reducing 1st avenue to one lane in each direction between 33rd and 40th streets. the construction will also affect some left turn lanes. flaggers will be out today to try and keep traffic flowing. the good news - today starts the final phase of the 1st avenue project for the rest of the year. it should be done by october, in cedar falls, the official search for a new school president begins today at the university of northern iowa. the
