north dakota to temporarily stop the pipeline. the tribe and other protestors claim it could contaminate drinking water for millions of people. protestors add the pipeline would destroy sacred native american land. texas-based dakota access is building the pipeline from north dakota to illinois, with it going through 18 counties here in iowa. the yankton sioux tribe in south dakota is also now suing federal regulators for approving permits for the pipeline the tribe filed the lawsuit yesterday against the u-s army corps of engine permits for the project. the suit says the construction on these lands would damage sites of enormous cultural importance. the fight to stop construction has drawn thousands of protesters to north dakota in recent weeks they've been gathering now at the sacred stone camp in the southern part of the state. some have donated food and volunteered to cook for the protesters. "everything back there is done with love, compassion, and caring. it gets fed to the people and that's what they produce love compassion and caring, it's all part of that

the iowa city based new pioneer co-op is helping the people protesting the bakken oil pipeline. the co-op has sent them cooking supplies and food. a spokesperson told t-v nine today the co- op feels helping the protesters is the right thing to do. "we are following environmental issues, we care about food, but the larger environment is all part of us and we are part of it, and i just can't see how they're ever going to turn off this pipeline if there's a break and it goes through the most important farmland in the world... hello? " new pionee i facebook page to share updates from the protesters. green party presidential nominee jill stein will go to north dakota to face misdemeanor charges. stein made the announcement during a campaign stop in chicago yesterday. she is charged with criminal trespass and mischief, after spray painting a message on a dakota access bulldozer. stein says she's not

his annual state of the city address. the mayor talked about the many areas of improvement in dubuque over the years last night. they include things like employment, tourism and employment. he praised developments in the millwork district and the jobs they created. throughout the speech, buol stressed the importance of continuing to build a city where people want to live and work. for helping students learn math. the white house has honored ann johnson. she teaches 2nd grade at sageville in the dubuque school district. she's 1 of about a 100 teachers across the country receiving the presidential award for excellence in mathematics and science teaching. the white house says these teachers have developed a program that subjects. they are role models for their colleagues, and an inspiration where they live.
