an hour. the first increase would happen at the beginning of next year. johnson county was the first to increase its county minimum wage. the wage there will go up to 10 dollars and 10 cents an hour on january 1st. in may, it increased to nine dollars and 15 cents an hour. five cities opted out of the increase. a seat on an honor flight costs 550 dollars. and students in central city don't want veterans to pay for it. today, central city high school and elen a fundraising effort to see how many veterans they can put on the honor flight. the eastern iowa honor flight takes veterans to washington, d-c to see the memorials dedicated to their service. the all-volunteer organization has already flown more than 2,000 veterans to the nation's capital. the central city fundraiser pins the high school against the elementary. the students that raise the most money will get to duct tape their principal to a wall for a whole class period. they will start the

"i am certain at the point they weren't thinking about their own safetey, they were thinking about everyone else. it's one thing you see with first responders is eveyrone is running away from danger, the first responders are running to it" up a local park as part of september 11th's national day of service and remembrance. they started at first presbyterian church and spread to local neighborhoods. one 11-year-old told us why he helped out. "i thought that it would be fun and plus i have to get community service hours for boy scouts. waterloo fire and rescue is remembering those who lost their lives on september 11th through a blood drive today. a blood donation center at their headquarters is open from noon to 6 tonight. everyone who attempts to donate will receive a coupon for a free haircut, courtesy of sport clips haircuts. after a summer of high tension across the nation between people and police, some in williamsburg thought it was time for people -- and law enforcement and other emergency responders -- to get to know each other. thought it coincide with september 11th. the day started with the national anthem and raising of the american flag. people got a chance to check out the vehicles of law enforcement, meet the k-9 officer and talk to members of the sheriff's office, p-d and fire department. kids got to try out the fire hose. one organizer says he hopes people will see law enforcement in better a light. what is going to happen when you report to a fire or an accident or a police event, " fingerprinting kits were also available to kids as a way to combat child abduction. kids also tried out speed radar with a baseball pitch game. the johnson county sheriff's office says a 20 year old marion man drowned this weekend in the iowa river. first responders got the call of a person in the river, just north of the benton street bridge in iowa city, about 6:30 saturday night. around 7:45, they pulled nathan he was a student at the university of northern iowa. the sheriff's office is asking for information from anyone who knows what happened, or saw twedt go into the river. if you have information, call 319-356-6020. one person is dead and another seriously injured after a crash in jackson county. the iowa state patrol is trying to figure out how 2 vehicles crashed head-on about 3:30 saturday afternoon. they were navigating a curve near the

few miles south of maquoketa. the drivers of those vehicles were the only ones involved in the crash. kristen vogt, a 26 year old from dubuque, died at the scene. responders also took a 34-year-old man from andrew to uihc with serious injuries. one cedar rapids woman is proving that age is just a number. at 102 years old, her church helped her celebrate the years she's served the cedar rapids community. but right now, here's a look at today's opening farm markets. good morning!

turned 102 years old. she's the oldest member of her church and the congregation decided to throw a party. kcrg tv9's phil reed asked her for her secret to a long and happy life. members of noelridge church wait in line to greet hug, and a picture. they served cake and coffee during a birthday bash for the church's oldest member. "well it's always a big day when we have something like this. and my church family means a great deal to me." johnston has lived in iowa her whole life. she was born in keokuk county, and moved to cedar rapids in 1967 after her husband died. "to get a job. i knew i was going to have to build up my social security. and there weren't that many jobs available. " she says she eventually found a job at rockwell

september 11th memorial ceremony turned out to be pneumonia, according to her doctor. as abc's lana zak reports, the incident comes as rival donald trump has attempted to call clinton's health into question, claiming that she "lacks the mental and physical stamina to take on isis." this video is igniting calls for the presidential candidates to release more comprehensive health records.... as you can see here, hillary
