those are some of our top stories, on this tuesday, september 13th. good morning, everyone. we're going to start this half hour, with hillary clinton. sidelined by pneumonia. but planning to return to the campaign trail, we're told in the next couple of days. >> clinton is resting taking her doctor's advice, that she initially ignored. she acknowledged that she felt dizzy and lost her balance on sunday. but said she felt better immediately and insists she never fell unconscious. >> donald trump refrained from attacking clinton over her health. but he tore into her on another issue. it's "your voice," your vote," with kenneth moton. >> reporter: a september surprise in the race for president. hillary clinton off the trail, recovering from pneumonia american rival, donald trump on the trail and on the attack. >> never in history, has a major party presidential candidate so viciously demonized

>> reporter: trump, at a north carolina rally, seizing on clinton's comments at a fund-raiser friday night, calling half of his supporters a basket full of deplorables. >> racist, sexist, homophobic, xenophobic, islamphobic. >> reporter: clinton says she regretted calling half of trump's supporters deplorable. trump also weighed in on clinton's sunday health scare. >> it was quite sad, to be honest with you. i hope she gets well soon. no satisfaction whatsoever. >> reporter: video captured the democratic nominee nearly collapsing outside of the 9/11 memorial in new york. clinton's campaign first said she was overheated and dehydrated. and revealed she was diagnosed with pneumonia friday. clinton told cnn by phone, she just didn't think the pneumonia diagnosis was a big deal. >> it's that kind of thing, if it happens to you, and you're a busy, active person, you keep moving forward. >> reporter: bill clinton weighed in on the health scare

>> rarely, but on more than one occasion, over the last many, many years, the same thing happened to her when she got dehydrated. >> reporter: clinton's campaign will be releasing additional medical records this week and called on trump to do the same. trump now said he will do just that and will also reveal the results of a physical this week. trump's focus will be daytime television when he appears on a talk show tomorrow, diane and kendis. >>en as trump came to the defense of his supporters, a scuffle broke out at his rally in north carolina. a man in the crowd, grabbed a protesters by the neck and punched him as he was being escorted out by security. and the man slapped a woman who was being led out of the arena. but the supporter was not ejected. a house republican has issued a subpoena to a high-ranking fbi official to

the clinton e-mail investigation. republicans have challenged the fbi not to challenge clinton over the use of a private e-mail server. democrats say they're just rying to undermine clinton's presidential bid. a vigil was held last night in memphis for the victims of a house fire that has left the city in mourning for nine victims. four adults and three children died after an electrical malfunction in an air conditioner, sparked the fire. one child survived. but he is in critical condition on life support. firefighters did find a smoke detector. and believe it was working. they're going door-to-door, in memphis, giving out free smoke detectors. police in florida are looking for an arson suspect, after a fire in a mosque in ft. pierce. the mosque was once attended by a man who killed 49 people in june. here's abc's gio benitez with more. >> reporter: 911 calls coming in. it's just after midnight. >> there goes the roof. >> don't go near it. okay? >> flames were going up like crazy.

the flames for almost five hours. the islamic center of ft. pierce, florida, was badly damaged. the same one attended by omar mateen, the man responsible for the june rampage at the pulse nightclub in orlando, that killed 49 people. surveillance cameras picking up a man arriving on a motorcycle. minutes later, he is running from the scene. flames from the inferno, lighting up the night. >> while the male was leaving, the male was shaking his hand. it is possible that the male >> reporter: his father attends services here, too. supporters say the worshipers have been harassed since the massacre. the fire gutting the mask on the 15-year anniversary of 9/11 and at the start of one of islam's holiest holidays. >> imagine waking up in the morning, wanting to two to your church on christmas day, only to find it burnt. >> reporter: now, authorities tell abc news they are investigating this as a hate

in northern california, the willard fire is about 10% contained. 500 structures are threatened by the fire. burning near susanville. hundreds were evacuated as a precaution. the cause of the fire is under investigation. in illinois, a massive fire in chicago's east garfield park neighborhood, destroyed a strip mall. 150 firefighters responded to that scene. two suffered minor injuries crews are still working to put out some hot spots overnight. the cause is under investigation. wells fargo is facing new outrage over the huge bonus being paid to an executive. carrie tolstedt was in charge of the unit where employees allegedly opened 200 unauthorized customer accounts. the bank is paying in fines. but tolstedt is retiring with almost that much. a $125 million payday. her retirement was announced before the scandal was revealed. apparently, there's evidence the sugar industry has been

policy in this country for about half a century. newly discovered documents indicate that a group paid researchers to minimize the link between sugar and heart health, and instead, blamed saturated fat. researchers were not required to disclose who was funding the research. 1967 harvard findings have guided u.s. dietary guidelines since then. most parents are giving their kids the wrong amount of medicines. the measurements may be different than the markings on the cup. most of the time, parents are giving their kids more, sometimes much more, medicine than they should. the study recommends oral syringes instead. new york's finest, coming to the aid of a woman who had her purse stolen. take a look. surveillance video showing the woman is sitting outside in

hitting her head, suffering concussion and a blood clot. but her aides downplayed the severity of the injury. it wasn't until journalists spotted her special glasses for double vision that it became clear just how serious that injury was. in 2014, clinton told diane sawyer there was nothing to worry about. >> no lingering effects? >> no lingering effects. nope. >> reporter: clinton was asked why she didn't disclose her pneumonia sooner. >> i didn't think it was going to be that big of a deal. it's that kind of thing, if it happens to you and you're a busy, active person, you keep moving forward. and i think it's fair to say, anderson, that people know more about me than almost anyone in public life. >> reporter: neither candidate has released full medical records. but clinton has provided more information. a two-page letter from her doctor in 2015, declaring her in excellent physical condition. her current medical conditions

seasonal pollen allergies. trump, who would be the oldest to take office, he would release detailed health records soon. >> reporter: you're 70. she's 68. do you think the american people deserve to know more about your medical history? >> sure, i do. but i would love to give specifics, as far as i'm concerned. if she wants to do it, i would to it 100%. >> reporter: why not go first? >> i might do that. i think i will do that. >> reporter: to date, all he released is this four-paragraph statement from his d declaring that trump will be the healthiest individual ever elected to the presidency. that doctor later saying he wrote in a rush with trump's car waiting outside. >> five minutes. right at this desk and write that letter while the driver waited for it. >> reporter: trump announcing he will release more information this week. we know that several of hillary clinton's aides in her brooklyn headquarters became sick in recent weeks, including her campaign manager. no word on whether that is connected to the same pneumonia that hillary clinton has been

get this, donald trump's public reaction to clinton's health scare has been subdued. after slamming clinton's health and stamina for weeks, trump took the high road, saying he hopes she gets well soon. and campaign surrogates were ordered to keep quiet about the issue. but trump couldn't resist raising a few more questions. >> they say pneumonia on friday. but she was coughing badly a week ago and even before that, if you remember. it's interesting to see what is going on. >> trump was not holding back, as he defended his supporters. he is demanding that clinton retract her comments, labeling some of them as deplorables. he is accusing clinton of attacking and demonizing the american voter. breaking overnight, the u.s. has shown a major show of force

the military sent two supersonic bombers across south korea. the flight was in response to north korea's latest nuclear test. there was a similar flyover with a b-2 after a january test. as the cease-fire in syria enters a second day, syrian rebels are criticizing a truce plan. 21 groups are calling the agreement unjust. and saying the international community is not serious about ending the fighting. the united states has confirmed the cease-fire does not include provisions for u.s. and russian-approved air strikes. firefighters in chicago are city's west side. the fire broke out at 7:00 in the evening, and quickly spread. two firefighters suffered heat exhaustion. a witness claims to have overheard a man threatening to burn down a store in that area. a manhunt is under way in florida, for a suspect who started a fire after an attack on a mosque, in ft. pierce. it is the same mosque attended by the orlando nightclub

the sheriff's department released surveillance video of the suspect, who is later seen running away. >> he was holding a bottle of some sort of fluid. and what appeared to be some papers, or something like that. shortly after the individual approached the building, an immediate, very large flash was observed, in the video footage. >> federal investigators are looking to the fire as a possible hate crime. muslim leaders say it was the latest in an escal of harassment. a preliminary investigation is blaming metal fatigue for an alarming air incident last month. a fan blade broke off a southwest 737, with pieces hitting the fuselage and leaving a hole in its outer skin. the plane lost pressure and had to make an emergency landing in pensacola, florida. luckily, there were no injuries. some highway systems in the u.s., including in atlanta and the cincinnati area, resemble spaghetti.
